I am going to contact the developers of the shareware programs mentioned in this thread to see if they are willing to provide us with discounts/giveaways.  I'll post here if I get any takers.

Yay!

I am not going to even try to build anything (I still have nightmares about trying to make levels for Doom).  I can't wait to play the levels that the community puts out there.

There have already been some mind-benders created before the official tools even hit, so I am expecting greatness :)

No name ideas, but I got a little guy who can test it for you.

Like I said, I ran FF is safe mode with all addons disabled and I am still getting it.

Weird.

Using Firefox 4.0.1.

I just started FF in safe mode with all addons disabled and I am still seeing it.

Looks fine in Opera and IE.

Just noticed this issue showing up.  Some topics are not being separated from adjacent topics with horizontal lines.

It was on my unread since last visit display:

And then it showed up here in the DC Website Help forum:

Liquid Story Binder has a permanent discount available at BitsDuJour for 44% off making it $25.95 USD.  Here is the link for you: http://www.bitsdujou...liquid-story-binder/

The company's way of doing business is also commendable.  First off, they give you a 30 day shareware trial that only counts days that you actually use the program on.  Next, they offer a 30 day, unconditional money back guarantee after you purchase.  Finally, they do not charge for any upgrades or updates, and clearly state that the license you buy is a lifetime license.

I have experience using the money back guarantee, and they issued my refund in less than 12 hours after I emailed them on a weekend.  Now, I did not take advantage of the refund because it was a bad program by any means.  I just found it to be overkill for my limited needs, and I realized that another program I already owned could do the small amount of organization I wanted.  If I were embarking on a large writing project that would allow me to take advantage of the extra features of LSB, I would not hesitate to buy a license again in the future.

Thanks for the question.

I made some edits to hopefully clarify the reasons for my poll.

If you make monetary donations to charity, please consider voting.  If you are so inclined, share more specific information in a post (though please don't feel compelled to go into detail if you would prefer not to).  I am simply curious as to the habits of the users here on DonationCoder.  The nature of this website attracts individuals who are willing to share their monetary resources with others, so I am interested in how that extends beyond what we do here on DC.

The extent to which I might ever use the data from this poll would be a future blog post that would read something like, "Of the people who voted in a poll I ran on a popular website's message board, 50% indicated that they donated when a specific need such as an earthquake arose."  Nothing more specific than that, and I promise not to specifically refer to any posted responses unless I have directly contacted the individual and received permission to do so.  I doubt any need to be specific unless someone shares something really interesting about their poll response.  That being said, I am not planning any particular blog post at this time.

I recognize that this is an informal poll and would carry no weight as part of a larger study or academic research.

And, while I fully support everything that DonationCoder.com does, I am not talking about those kinds of donations here :).

I know it sucks that you can't access anything right now, but the fact that you can't actually points to LastPass doing its job.  There is a chance, however slim that may be, that your encrypted password was accessed by a third party.  You are trying to log in from an ip address outside of your home isp's block.  From their end, you could very well be one of the hackers.

I'd take inconvenience over lax security.

Don't know how I feel about this one.  I do think they are taking the right steps, and they even admitted that they are taking the paranoid course of action.  Then again, it's not like they notified their users, as I only found out about this from reading this thread.

I started using LastPass when Roboform reneged on their lifetime update policy.

I tried KeePass, but it kept autofilling the wrong fields in Firefox.

More than once, I accidentally changed my wifi wpa keys because of it, and websites were constantly giving me errors after I filled in forms.

So now I am with LastPass.  My LastPass key is 32 psuedorandom characters that include uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.  I have my LastPass key stored in a KeyPass database that is protected with an 18 character key that I generated using the first letters of a specific sentence on a specific dvd that was sitting on my desk with uppercase and lowecase letters as indicated in the sentence and random punctuation thrown in.

I am pretty sure my LastPass is pretty well out of reach of brute force cracking at this time.

I just discovered that my folder aliases all now resolve to C:\Documents and Settings\[path]
Thus, for example, if I enter Art as a lister path, and Art is aliased as G:\Art
DOpus 10 thinks that it means
C:\Documents and Settings\Godfrey\Art
not G:\Art
-cranioscopical (May 04, 2011, 02:57 AM)

I never use aliases, but I tested the following, and it works if I type /umusic into the location bar.  Note the forward slash instead of a backslash

Aliases
umusic   M:\Media\Unsorted Music

In my case there was some issues to with changing the gui colors as I like it, and some revised toolbars, but nothing really major.
Now if the foldertabs could be silver on black it'd be back to normal.

Will this part of Preferences do the colors you want?

I figure I spend more time with my file manager than any other program, so I'm willing to pay for the best.  I've had a few annoyances here and there with past versions of DO that I had to fix through external programs, autohotkey scripts, and the like that DO10 seemed to fix.

I wish it was cheaper, but I'm happy with the upgrade.

The license does not specify that the primary computer cannot be a laptop.  All it says is that you can install it on one computer and a personal laptop for Home/SOHO use.  So the first computer is a laptop, and the second computer is a laptop.

I just purchased the upgrade, and after registering the program, the License Manager states "This certificate is valid for installation on a single computer (plus one personal laptop for HOME/SOHO users only)."

I don't know if past versions allowed installation on a laptop with a normal license, but I don't recall ever seeing that.

Not on the list, but the book I always recommend to SF fans is Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.  In case you didn't know, it is considered the first SF novel by many.  It's one of my all-time favs.

my version 9 key (from the Bits du Jour offer 28FEB/01MAR 2011)
is not accepted by version 10.

Did you go here http://www.gpsoft.co...DScripts/upgrade.asp and enter your license?  I think it will give  you a v10 key for free if you purchased after Dec 2010.

Ugh.  Why now?  Gotta spend some time deciding what's new and if any of it is really worth the upgrade cost.

*sigh*

After dumping RoboForm, I also ended up with Lastpass.

I tried using KeePass, but I got annoyed with it filling the wrong forms.  At one point, it accidentally reset the WPA password on my router when it decided to fill a form incorrectly.  I was trying to change another field on the page, and I had a hell of a time figuring out why my wife's laptop stopped connecting.

So I switched to Lastpass.  I don't like storing my passwords on their servers, but after doing a lot of research, it seems that the strength of the password one uses for Lastpass is the weakest link in their system.

So, my password for Lastpass is 48 random characters long (lower case, upper case, numbers, and symbols).  I have a local Keepass database protected with a similarly long and mixed password that I have memorized that only contains my Lastpass password.

The password I use for KeyPass is derived from the description on the back of a specific DVD that happened to be on my desk when I was creating it.  I shifted my hands a particular direction from "home row" before typing the first characters of each word, capitalizing when indicated by the source.

When I open my browser, I have to get my password from KeePass to be able to log into LastPass.

Overkill?  Maybe.  But I feel confident that I'm safe until someone figures out how to break AES in some way other than brute force.

You probably know this already: as noted by cthorpe on Bits du Jour's recent offer on RoboForm Pro v7, RoboForm 6 doesn't work with Firefox 4.

Yup.  And the company's response is that FF4 came out after RF7.  Somehow that makes it ok to refuse to fix v6 to be compatible and require a paid upgrade to v7 to be able to continue using a program that used to promise free upgrades.

Wow, that was a long sentence.  The long and short of it is that Roboform will never see another cent from me.

Nothing[/i] happy about the events of the weekend? Are you serious?

Christianity is meaningless without the events of that weekend.

Exactly.  It's not like Christians go around wishing each other a Happy Good Friday (Good Friday being the day Jesus was crucified).  Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus.  I don't see how that would not be happy for a believer.

Oh!  And what was that story about the guy who had a friend who was like really gifted in certain ways, or something like that?  ****, that's the worst possible explanation ever!  But I remember one scene: the friends go to a swimming pool, and the guy swims and breaks the record, but nobody other than the friend witnesses it.  Then there was a scene with the guy falling out of a tree and breaking his arm or something.  What was that book?

The book you are talking about is called A Separate Peace by John Knowles.  It's a great book.

I feel rather out of place in this thread...
