Hello again Pareidol! Are they always the same files/directories?

Yes, atm. But I can not say how my workflows might change in the future. Best would be (as far as I can imagine) if it would be possible to call a program from a batch and put source and destination path as argument in it.

I have recurring tasks of moving and copying files from one path to another.
I would like to have a desktop shortcut (maybe even put it in the Windows task planner), where you just double click and the files are getting moved/copied.
I know, this can be done with a batch and robocopy, but i would like to have a progressbar and propper errorhandling.
Something like TeraCopy (there are many more programms that can copy/move files), but with the ability to call it from a file/batch/link, whatever.

Great,
now it works as expected.
I'll defenitely work with it the next time.
Maybe there are some minor improvements, but for now I'm happy.

Many thanks.

Ok,
maybe then I still get your suggested workflow not right.

My need for this tool:
- I often have to use an accounting tool for different projects
- The projects often change
- The projects have cryptic names
- When I need to enter something for one of the projects, I want to open the list with the projects "ah ok, this time it's the project with the red t-shirt" select the "red t-shirt project" and in my accounting programm the cryptic name will be entered.

Might be a bit complicated or not as easy as i imagine.
Could be a workarround if there is nothing else, but I'm looking forward for publicdomains release ;)

You could kind of also use mouser's FARR for that.
1. Create an alias with keyword value pairs in this format
keyword | paste value
abc | paste 123
golf | paste don't forget to play golf
2. Set a regex pattern for the alias. For example
^zz$
3. Set up a special hotkey in FARR to open FARR and trigger the alias (which then shows the list of keys). Under "Text for search edit box" add "zz" (the string that will trigger the alias).

But then you need to remember the keyword that will be replaced, am I right?
So you enter "abc" and it will be replaced by "paste 123"

the DC community rocks!

You are right, the community rocks. I think I read the complete forum with all entries, stored a million links with tools to test  :D

P.S.: I dindn't get mail notofications about the replys in my other request, so I hadn't answered yet.

Thanks for all your ideas, sadly no one fits what I need.
But maybe my explanation was not clearly enough.
I made a quick mockup.

There should be a settingsdialogue where you set the alias that should be shown, and the text that should then be sent.
When you press anywhere the hotkey, a list popps up near your cursor, there you can select one entry, that sends then the text "behind", and the list disappears.
You should have the option to change the hotkey and export and import the list.

P.S.: I didn't got mail notifications, so I nearly forgot my request.

I thought this other request was forgotten in the abyss of the internet.

For the "file move" we have a sollution for now, I think in the interest of everyone, it is better to go on with the other one which has no sollution so far (maybe also anybody knows a sollution for that as well).

Maybe in future you have some spare time for the open source file move (that the github page doesn't stay so abandoned)  ;)

This tool looks good (so far).
For my taste it wouldn't need the other functions, I like tools that have one function and that function works great.
And I even would like to have the "move to" action diret accessible with no "sub menu", but those are luxury problems.

Maybe Publicdomain is still interrested to create an open-source sollution, I would like it  ;)

Great!
Works like a charm, so far.
I'm using Win11.

...Let me ponder a bit about the best way to go for us to tackle this after "Copy image" menu

Sure, no hassle  ;)
I often come up with such ideas. I can do a little bit of coding (mainly AHK and C#) but often it's just too big for me.
Great that you grabbed directly both of my ideas

If they are done I have another great Idea on my sketchbook, that waits for a coder  :D

Repo @ https://github.com/p...cdomain/move-to-menu

I assume the main use will be move to but maybe keep in mind also add the possibility for a copy to menu.

Another idea to improve the windows context menu.

From time to time I sort my "Downloads" folder or any other folder and the stuff needs to go to specific folders.
It would be nice to have a context entry "move to" and then select a predefined target folder from a list.

I found a good start for that in another forum tenforums
But there they have some minor issues (some say it just works for files and not for folders, others say it doesn't move a complete folder, just the contents.
And it would be nice to easily add and remove that menu entry and have a gui with folder selector for the target, set a nicname for the target and add separators.

Similar to that example picture:

I assume it's a Phyton script, with no compiled exe.

Post New Requests Here / IDEA: Copy picture to clipboard
« on: January 17, 2022, 09:01 AM »
Often I want to copy an image to the clipboard, that I can insert it into Outlook (or other programms).
But when I use
strg + c
then I get the image as attachment and not as Image in my text.

The only sollution for me, so far, is that I open the image with the image editor from screenpresso (my screenshot tool) and there is a function "copy to clipboard" and then it works.

I would like to have another "function" in my windows context menu, beneath: cut, copy, paste. Maybe copy to clipboard or so.
It would be great if it would be that simple like "Enfolder from publicdomain", to add and remove that function from the windows context menu.

Hi,
Im searching for an application, that shows up with a shortcut and then let me choose one of many prestored textblocks from a database (maybe with a short name, and the text that will be inserted, eg: Signature: Average Joe, Phone:+1234567) and automatically inserts it, wehere my cursor currently is.

Background:
In my daily live I have to work with several tools, documents, e.g., where I often have to enter the same strings, over and over again, after some weeks these texts may change.
Until now, I store them in a notepad, and copy them, but it's very anoying with all those clicks.

Anybody knows such tool?

Android Apps / Which Android Emulator
« on: May 07, 2021, 02:27 AM »
Which Android Emulator do you use?
All I found are complicated to install or do not work as expected.
Yours look very clean and without adds.

Could you suggest your emulator? Then we could try your Apps on PC as well.
