Just thought of a further issue, which complicates things. Twitter shortens a hyperlink, and the shorter url constitutes the character count. So, where a link might be 16 characters, say, the shortened version (which you do not see until you publish) might only count 8 towards the 280 limit. I think this may be an insurmountable issue!

One issue is that a writer may not know when s/he begins how many tweets will be in the thread. It's a work in progress. So they might opt for any of the following, at the beginning or end of each tweet:

- "1/20" (where they go back and adjust the numbering before publishing)
- "1/x" (where they may, in the final tweet, write something like "19/19", if there are 19 tweets)
- "1 " or "1. " or "1/ " at the beginning or end of a tweet.

Additionally, some writers like to mark their final tweet with "ENDS" or "end/" or even "fin" (for finish).

I suspect it would be impossible to cater for all options, but it might be good to know the diversity around.

Extra lines or not?: could there we an option to choose? (People's styles vary hugely.)

Spaces and paragraph breaks: all count towards the 280 characters.

Good idea, and thanks. Just bear in mind that those who do Twitter threads:

- may want to start or end a given tweet with '...' or '1/10' or '1/x' to indicate that something further is happening
- prefer not to end a tweet mid-word, but rather in a place which beckons the reader on to the next tweet.

So there needs, I think, to be the possibility of the writer choosing where and how to break to the next chunk of writing. Automating it too much is unlikely to give adequate flexibility.

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1348964732104007680.html is probably the biggest Twitter thread out there, currently, and I note that a writer:

- may start his tweet with numerals, or put them at the end of each tweet. or three dots, etc
- may want to use Twitter emojis.

https://getchirrapp.com/ has tried to enable the creation of Twitter feeds, but somehow I have never got on with it.

Could it be made Twitter-thread-generation-friendly? That would be very good!

In other words:

- set 280 characters, and type until text goes red
- delete characters to within 280 limit at a sensible point
- make a break to the next tweet in the thread (three dashes on a new line, or something)
- start typing the next tweet in the thread
- rinse and repeat until end of thread is reached.

Something like...

aaaaaaaaaaa [goes red at 281]

---

bbbbbbbbbb [goes red at 281]

---

etc...

@KodeZwerg, a great little app. Thanks! [This is posted in the right forum page this time!]

On Windows 10 Pro, I use an external monitor as my main monitor, with display 2 (external monitor) and laptop monitor (display 1) linked so as to extend . Thus I can move stuff from one monitor to the other by drag-and drop.

When I use RaptureReplica on either monitor, the area grabbed does not stop when I release the left mouse button. The grabbed area extends itself to cover that vertical portion grabbed, but horizontally across both screens.

Grabbing a small portion of the laptop monitor ( is what I grabbed) gives rise to a much wider grab (). (The external monitor part of the actual grab is part of the DC page, which I had open on the external monitor at the time.)

I hope I have explained this okay?

Could you find a way to limit the grab to whichever are of the one screen on which I use the mouse for that purpose?

I'm going to find this really useful, nkormanik.

My first use of this shows the following behavior [Ungoogled Chromium, via BrokenURL as default 'browser', set to always open URLister external links in Ungoogled Chromium]. (I hope these are constructive comments!)

1. Each link is opened in a new tab. Ideally, I would prefer the first link to open in a new tab, and then the 2nd and onwards in that same tab as the first. Is there a Chrome setting that might control this? Or is this current behavior part of the 'design'?

2. Is there a way of making the list of links persist over closing and re-opening the GUI, or at least to have that option for often-used URLs? (I can store the list and reload, but it's one extra step.)

Thank you so much for this. See bold below for one unresolved issue.

 Just for clarity:

1) Set up a new custom alias.

2) Call it "dir" [no quote marks].

3) Put in the Results box [without the quote marks]: "Open Street Map - To: $$1 From: $$2 | https://www.openstre...p.org/directions?to=$$1&from=$$2".

3) Put in the Regular Expression Pattern box [no quotes]: "^dir (.*) (.*)$".

4) Form of search =: dir [destination] [from]

See the clip attached.

There is one issue: this formulation doesn't cope with places with more than one word as a name (like New York, for example). Is there a solution to that, do you think?

I use the FARR Google Maps alias(es) really quite often, but prefer generally to keep away from Google wherever possible.

It would be wonderful if there could be an alias (maps and directions) which harnessed Openstreetmap, instead of Google.

I have no idea where to start on that, so am just throwing it out for anyone who can, to consider!

Is there any way to render a list of my aliases into a .txt or .rtf file, together with shortcuts for each, so that I have a ready reference of the many I have created, and do not have to scan laboriously through myaliases.alias when I forget how to access one?

Recently, my FARR aliases for restart Windows 10 (v. 1809) and shutdown Windows 10 have stopped working, bringing up a CMD black screen which then closes. I'm having to do it through W10 settings.

Has something changed? Am I doing something wrong?

The relevant entries are:-

Restart
Restart | C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /t 0

Shutdown
Shutdown | C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
