Hello

I see on cpubenchmark.net that AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS ranks almost 50% higher than Intel i7 1260P.

I am between those two options with the Intel clearly being preferred due to DDR5 support.

But is the Ryzen 5900HS really that superior? If yes, then I suppose its combination with LPDDR4X would be better than 1260P with DDR5?
(considering that DDR4X is 4200MHz and DDR5 would be 4800MHz or max 5200MHz)

Any opinions?

Thanks!

Mmm, basically the window of the app is a SunAwtFrame and it has a button that when I click it, a file is generated/extracted and downloaded. I want to know the url of that file. Unfortunately, Excel does not seem to store it and AutoIt Info tool does not provide any hint.

Thanks but that I am quite limited on what I can install so I cannot really use anything so invasive as a driver (I remember installing WinpCap more than 15 years ago and it was like a proper driver).

A workaround would be great  :-\

UPDATE: digged this https://www.membrane-soa.org/ looks promising but how can it really work without messing with the network adapter? it seems like a proxy which sounds very interesting!

Hello!

I am returning a faulty laptop purchase but in the meantime I have saved passwords etc, how can I purge it?

Asus Zenbook if it rings a bell (pity it could be a great laptop :D)

Thanks!

Hello

I have a java applet jnlp file that downloads some files. Is it possible to see the underlying download link when I download these files?
Ideally the whole HTTPS request?

I checked pktmon but it seems it does not do that out of the box.

Is there a free solution preferably native to Win?

Thanks!

Living Room / Re: Grabbing files from authenticated website
« on: September 23, 2021, 03:02 PM »
Hi!

Unfortunately it's a proprietary site and I cannot tell it.

It is a form authentication website which has an additional step of authentication so it is really really hard to automate it.

Instead, I am just looking to download specific urls every 30 min through the IE/Edge so that the session does not expire.

What would be the best way to do that? I tried Powershell, Windows Task Scheduler, Excel Data Connections but non really worked due to downloading either nothing or the login page.

General Software Discussion / Powershell Invoke-WebRequest
« on: September 23, 2021, 11:32 AM »
Hello!

I am not very familiar with the http terminology, what certificate, authentication, method, session, etc are.

I think in many cases, when you login to a website via a form, it creates a cookie based on which you keep your access to the site.

Which of the below (or other?) parameters should I need to specify to make PowerShell Invoke-WebRequest to behave like IE/Edge, i.e. to check and use whatever cookies and authentication has already taken place via the browser?

      [-WebSession <WebRequestSession>]
      [-SessionVariable <String>]
      [-AllowUnencryptedAuthentication]
      [-Authentication <WebAuthenticationType>]
      [-Credential <PSCredential>]
      [-UseDefaultCredentials]
      [-CertificateThumbprint <String>]
      [-Certificate <X509Certificate>]
      [-SkipCertificateCheck]
      [-SslProtocol <WebSslProtocol>]
      [-Token <SecureString>]
      [-Method <WebRequestMethod>]
      [-PreserveAuthorizationOnRedirect]
      [-SkipHeaderValidation]

Thanks!

Living Room / Grabbing files from authenticated website
« on: September 23, 2021, 05:18 AM »
Hello

I want to grab xls files via specific links through a website that has a form authentication. Because it has an additional sms authentication step, it will not be possible to fully automate a live connection.

The session is set at 60 minutes so I am thinking if I ping/query the website every 30min, the cookie will renew/refresh.

However, this pinging will need to come from a 24/7 server and not my laptop as I cannot have it on all the time.

Is there any free solution for this?

I was thinking to create a Sharepoint Flow where it will download the xls every 30 min refreshing the cookie/auth/sessionID each time. I was hoping that I can somehow login manually for the first time via Sharepoint and then since the flow will be scheduled every 30, it will run forever refreshing the session.

Or do you have any other idea?
I was checking some of the free Azure services if they are suitable but no luck.

Thanks!

Living Room / Wireless earphones switchable across devices
« on: September 15, 2021, 06:33 AM »
Hello!

I would like some wireless earphones which can allow me to switch devices and make calls/meetings with my work laptop, my personal laptop, my phone etc without having to plug/unplug them to each device.

I would like them to have:
1) longest battery (ideally at least a week before having to recharge)
2) earpieces (no over-ear) but also not those who are inserted into the canal
3) easy way to switch between devices safely (I would not want my workplace to hear my personal calls)
4) long range so that I can go to the kitchen while my laptop/phone is in the bedroom

Of course I do not expect anyone to conduct a search for me, just wondering if anyone has already done some market research and can share some insight?

Thanks!

Living Room / Problem with Win Remote Connection
« on: August 30, 2021, 04:40 PM »
Hello!

I want to remote connect to a Windows PC but it's language is not English and I am struggling to enable Remote Connection on it and find its connection address/name.

Is there a cmd command that can enable Remote Connection and another that can show me which is the address/name to connect to?

If not, I will have to go ask the physical user to navigate through the Control Panel but I am struggling because it's not in English.

Thanks!

Living Room / "Open in app" in Teams
« on: March 26, 2021, 04:21 PM »
Hello

If two different people open an excel file in Teams via the 'open in app' button, and edit it, will the changes be merged and saved in the Teams file?

What if the changes are contradicting? Or what if one makes changes and saves them and the other has the file still opened and makes other changes and then saves them? Will everything be merged into the saved document?

Thanks!

Can someone suggest please a cheap ready to use solution?

E.g.:
I can buy a cheap wifi portable router or access point to use it as dedicated to interconnect my laptops.
I can then use a portable free for commercial use software to control my laptops from my main laptop.

Can you suggest a setup?

Ideally, I would like to have my laptops' lids closed and still fully operate them (e.g. video, audio, navigation etc), would that be possible?

Because I have limited space to have all laptops open and also I cannot install proprietary things in the laptops.

64
Please try to explain how or where you are going to connect a kvm switch here?

KVM switches have HDMI and USB input ports and HDMI and USB output ports.

I will connect my laptops to the input ports.

The output ports can be connected to a monitor and a keyboard but ideally, I would like to connect them to my laptop.

65
I am a bit disappointed that no one suggested a KVM switch.

I think this is the cheapest and easiest solution with almost no latency. I am not sure why no one knew about that.

The local network solution is very unattractive. Too complex, requires an expensive router etc.

From little research, I think KVM switches basically do exactly what I want and much cheaper (some can cost $15).

Any comment?

66
Thanks but I was thinking a direct connection via a cable instead of a connection over the wifi. I assume the wifi connection will have lags? I have terrible experience with remote desktop sofware, it is very laggy.

Hello!

I have two laptops which I want to fully operate from one screen and this screen needs to be the screen of one of these laptops.

Is that possible?

Thanks!

68
My internet is very slow where I am but I have two wifi connections, one in my flat and another one in my other flat below.

I want to combine those when I am working on my laptop.

Is there an easy way to do that?

69
Thanks but isn't it possible with one of these usb wifi adapters? I was hoping to plug one of these in my laptop and then use a software to channel the multiple connections from Chrome, etc to both of the wifi connections!

70
Hello

Does the right software and hardware exist to use two wifi connections simultaneously?

My laptop will need to dynamically use the two wifi connections for each thread.

Thanks!

Living Room / Is is possible to save media from multiple tabs?
« on: December 22, 2020, 06:43 AM »
Hello!

I want to save media/videos/streams from several webpages.

Is there a solution that can do that with one click? Instead of having to go through each tab and click to download/extract the media file?

Or can you suggest a workaround? E.g. I was thinking to mass download the page source of all these opened tabs and append them and then run the extension in the resulting mass webpage source or something.

Thanks!

Living Room / How can I extract all the links from all tabs?
« on: December 22, 2020, 06:33 AM »
Hello!

How can I extract all the links from all tabs?

I can use Chrome or Firefox or other browser but I need the solution to be robust and extract all the links accurately from all opened tabs.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Living Room / Accessing my laptop from anywhere
« on: December 09, 2020, 05:59 AM »
Hello

I have several business laptops and I want to be able to access my private laptop from them so that I don't have to carry many laptops.

I am looking for a way to login to a website and be able to access all my files and perform any actions there (e.g. editing and saving files, bookmarking websites, running programs) which will then reflect locally on my personal laptop.

Is this possible? I do not mind having my laptop permanently on but it would be great if it can awake when needed.

Thanks!

Hello!

Do you know any reliable notifier with web interface?

I am looking to set notifications of events in a website and these will translate into alarms in my android phone.

Is that possible?

Thanks!

PS: Google Calendar is not very good, for some reason I do not hear any alarms

Living Room / How to fix messed up Google Accounts on an Android phone
« on: September 22, 2020, 03:13 PM »
Hello

I have set up two accounts in an android phone and some stuff are stored under one account and some other under the other.

E.g. the Google Pay stuff, the Contacts etc are all stored in one or the other account.

Is there a way to:

1) Move everything to one account
2) Delete everything from the other account

Thanks!
