General Software Discussion / advanced pdf edit software
« on: July 27, 2009, 09:19 PM »
hello

I try to add text forms in a pdf, but in all the software I have tried, you have to drag the text rectangular to fix a space and make it text form

isn't there any software that will automaticaly create the appropriate rectangular when you click inside an area that is surrounded by lines?

also, isn't there any software that will enable you specify precisely the dimensions of the text form? (how many inches, in which exact position etc)

last, I would like to create a text form of specific width, height, lenght and duplicate it and paste it in various positions inside a pdf

do you know any pdf software that can do these?

thanks

« on: July 18, 2009, 05:03 PM »
all the products you mentioned cannot convert special characters like spanish tilda, stress etc

as for the xpdf: good, but there are some issues, for example:

1) I get this character:
¤
what is this???

2) it cannot remove/ignore the headers and footers

3) it cannot save the bold characters, the index characters etc

4) last, how do I make it convert all my a.pdf, b.pdf etc files at once? I type c:\pdf\*.pdf and it doesn't do anything (do I have to convert one by one?)

thanks

General Software Discussion / extract text from pdf
« on: July 16, 2009, 11:14 AM »
hello

can you help me please extract the text from this pdf file http://stashbox.org/571279/mydocument.pdf
1) I would like each line to appear in one line (by line, I mean the text between "begining of line symbol"  and "end of line symbol")
for some reason all the pdf editor software I tried they cannot find correctly where the line should end, so they break the lines
2) I don't want the columns to appear (no pdf editor has the option to ignore the columns) nore the page numbers at the end of the pages, etc neither those arrows at the begining of each line
3) all the other special characters of this pdf can be typed in a rich text file
for some reason all the pdf editor software I tried cannot reproduce them accurately, for example index letters etc
also, the spanish characters cannot be recognized and reproduced well (á, é, í, etc)

I just want the text (but accurately), not the page appearance

can anyone help me please?

thanks

General Software Discussion / Text Form Fields in MS Office
« on: July 02, 2009, 09:33 AM »
hello

here http://office.micros.../HP051899431033.aspx
it says to use the Forms toolbar to insert fields in a form

I wonder, since all commands are supposedly included in menus, which menu does this function?

thanks

hello

in MS Word, in order to align decimal numbers according to their decimal point, we need to first set a decimal tab stop and then go to that point via TAB key and start typing, and the alignment will be on the fly as we write

however I need to do that type of alignment in an already typed list of decimal numbers

how can I do that?

also, in the line tab stop, how can I adjust the distance between the line and the text? and how can I remove that line? it is still there even if I choose to remove all tab stops

thanks

thanks for your replies

why letter a is 01000001? why a letter or generaly character is represented by 8 bits?
since I suppose the total number of possible characters is less than 99,999,999, so why not representing letters/characters as 4 bits, or 6 bits, etc

hello I have some questions about basic IT science

1) I know that the K before a metric unit means x1,000 (eg kcal means kilo calories, which is 1,000 calories), but why 1KB is 1,024 bytes and not 1,000 bytes?

2) since 1KB is 1,024 bytes, 1Kb in how many bits is equivalent to? 1,024 bits or 1,000 bits or something else?

3) a character (letter or digit) stored, is 1 bit or 1 byte?

4) I read "Some sources define a kilobit to mean 1,024 (that is, 210) bits", what the part "(that is, 210)" mean actually? I mean, how they come up with 210???

5) since data is stored in clusters (of magnetic media), why there are bad sectors? I mean, how does a whole sector go bad and not just a cluster?

6) why the common area of a track and TWO sectors is called cluster, but there is no definition for the common area of a track and ONE sector, which is smaller area and thus it is more accurate be used as a unit or area?

7) when do we choose to use bit and when byte (as metric units)? in which occasions?

8) what type of information can registers of CPU hold? what kind of functions can ALU of CPU perform?

thanks!

General Software Discussion / easy saving text
« on: June 23, 2009, 07:19 PM »
hello

I come across various words and phrases on the net that I want to save them in a txt file

is there a way to do this with one click? highlight/select a word/phrase and hit a hotkey and to automatically save it in a predefined txt file (in one row and hitting "ENTER" after that, so that the words/phrases will be saved as lists)

thanks

General Software Discussion / Re: monitor ink usage
« on: May 18, 2009, 03:31 PM »
Sorry, don't have a solution.

But when I saw the thread title I thought 'Huh? My monitor doesn't use ink.'

It's been a long day  :-[

you probably will in the future  :)

but, anyway, there are some software out there that do more or less this job, I wonder if someone has experience on their accuracy and any specific recommendation, or all are for enterprise-size printing needs

General Software Discussion / accountancy software
« on: May 13, 2009, 04:58 PM »
hello

I need a software that can transform economic actions into diary entries, for example:

economic action: sell something to a customer or buy from a supplier etc
the software must find and calculate the changes in each account (suppliers, customers, cash, etc) and display them as diary entries, with Double entry bookkeeping system

in other words I need a diary builder (not sic)

anyone knows a software that can do this?

thanks

1623
yes, thanks anyway  :)

1624
play the file from the cache with this
it will play the sound track

http://www.bytescout...wnload_freeware.html

Movies Extractor Scout Lite

works well, it saved an swf file from the cache of firefox that has only the audio, that I suppose is has been saved "losslessly"
now, I can extract the audio to an mp3 or convert it to mp3

thanks!

1625
can you paste the link of the swf that contains the music please ? that can be played in a video player afterwards
because ripping the music will loose quality I think (that would be the last option)

thanks
