So how does this work again?  I forget.  Will the product license come in an e-mail, or am I supposed to get it online, or what?
Thanks,

Thanks for the prize!
(I replied via e-mail first, but for some reason it doesn't show up here.)

I can't imagine needing any more functionality than what the Free version of Net Snippets gives me.  I would recommend that anyone at least try it before they put down money for anything else.

For those of you who's keen on Netsnippets, you can get a much cheaper price if you go to :

http://www.netsnippe....com/myie2/order.asp
Just a heads up, this discount is only available for maxtron browser exclusivelly.

Actually, I'm using the FREE version of Net Snippets, and I find it quite satisfactory.

Yes I like NetSnippets too, but don't forget Surfulator which does pretty much the same job, is cheaper and there is a discount available (at least I think it is still going) to DC memebers.

Thanks to this thread I decided to try out "Net Snippets"
http://www.netsnippets.com/
and I love it!  I can not only store notes and snippets, but I can also drag-and-drop anything from Outlook or Word or any other program that supports the drag-and-drop feature.  I really recommend it highly.

I just downloaded "mouseless browsing."  Thank you for the suggestion.  I had no idea such things were available.  So far I think I like it, but of course I'm still getting used to it.

Hmm..I just clicked on my signature link and it worked.  If you wouldn't mind trying it again, please do, and then let me know if it still doesn't work for you?

Thanks!

You're welcome, Betsy - glad my advice helped.

(By the way, the link in your signature doesn't work...)

Well, so far so good.  I've been surfing, and I haven't had a single popup.

It was easy to tell with some of the adware, just by looking at the names that Spy Sweeper listed.  They matched the names of the popups that kept coming up.

we've discussed in this forum how careful you have to be to insure that stuff these programs "find" are really the bad things they say they are.

these programs tend to flag stuff that is good and mistake it for something different which is similar -
just be careful what you let it delete until you are SURE it is in fact the bad thing that the program says it is -
sometimes a similar name can confuse it and you end up deleting something important and harmless.

Well, I just ran Spy Sweeper, and it found 18 things that the Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D missed (I ran those two right before running Spy Sweeper.)  I'm glad it found them, but I'm totally bummed because I just wasted $30 getting the full version of Ad Aware.  I doubt I have a ghost of a prayer of getting any refunds on that....

Thanks again to the person who recommended Spy Sweeper.  You may have saved my sanity, if in fact this eliminates my problem!

I'm gonna go do some surfing and see how it goes.

Betsy, I'm a little worried that you might have more of a problem than you realise - popups are one symptom of various adware and spyware infestations.  I think it might be worth your while to download a trial version of SpySweeper or something like that and run a test.  I read your list of security apps, but I have had experience of each of these being fallible, so I think it could be worth testing with another reputable scanner.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I figured it was something that my apps were missing, but I had tried so many...I didn't know what to try next.  I'm downloading the SpySweeper trial from Snapfiles now.
Can anyone tell me if it's ok to keep multiple apps of this sort running at once?  Can they interfere with one another?

Yes, I double-checked, and I have had popup-blocker turned on.  I hope that, when I get AdMuncher, it really does fix everything.

Am I going to cause problems by having multiple pop-up/ad/flash blockers running all at once?

coincidentally, betsy just won a copy of admuncher in the nov drawing, so that might solver her problems also.

I'm also still going nuts with popups.  One reason I quit using IE was because of all the popups.  I have Ad-Aware, Ad-Watch, Spybot S&D, Adblock, Noscript, and Flashblock, but I still get lots of popups.  Can anyone suggest anything that will really, truly, stop those nasty things?
(I was even desperate enough to check for a rootkit, but there wasn't one.)

Thanks in advance,

Hi all,
I've just switched over from IE to Firefox 1.5, and I like it.  Does anyone here write stuff specifically for Firefox?  If not, is there a site you recommend (besides Mozdev)?
I'm hoping to find an app that will cause Firefox to remember the text size for each site I visit.  I am getting tired of having to increase the text size of my homepage every time I visit it.
Thanks,

Thanks for dropping by my site!

Actually, according to my publisher, the online stores are wrong when they say they have it available.  I wrote to amazon.com and asked them about this, but so far I haven't gotten any definitive answer.

That's a good suggestion about changing my links.  I had intended to do that, but hadn't gotten around to it, and then I forgot.  The story of my life.... :)

You're right, there's no cost up front.  And if my book sells, everything will be great.  Unfortunately, PA doesn't promote books at all, beyond the very basics (sending book announcements to a list of friends and relatives that you provide, sending info out to libraries, etc.)  If you want your book to sell beyond just your immediate circle of friends and relatives, you have to do your own marketing.  That's where things can get expensive. Brick-and-mortar bookstores won't usually stock PA's books because of quality issues (PA will tell you that brick-and-mortar stores order their books all the time, but that's a different thing from stocking them.  If a patron goes to a physical store and requests a book, the store will order it for them.  But you don't get many sales that way, compared to what you would get if the book was on a shelf).
My hope is that my book is good enough to get word-of mouth recommendations on top of the publicizing that I'm doing for myself, and that it can succeed.  I'm not looking to be the next Oprah book of the month, but I certainly hope my book will be well received.
I put some excerpts on my website, along with some other samples of my writing style, to help people decide if they think my book is worth buying.  So far the feedback I've gotten has all been very positive, so I have hope!

Well, I appreciate your interest.  PublishAmerica will publish anything, regardless of quality.  (They claim this isn't true, but trust me, it is.)  This is a mixed blessing.  It's good because it guarantees you can get published.  It's bad because everyone "in the know" is suspicious of anything published by PublishAmerica.  I happen to feel that my writing is pretty darn good, and a whole lot better than a lot of what PA has published.  I'm glad that PA gave me this opportunity to be published, but I wish they were a lot more choosy.
They do offer "editing" services, but in my experience (and a lot of other people's), the "editors" do nothing but format the author's text to PA's specifications.  They do NOT catch errors, and they often insert errors.  (I wrote out a list of errors that they had added to my manuscript, and it totaled quite a few typed pages.)
If you want to know what other people are saying, just look up PublishAmerica on Google.  You'll see lots of people that absolutely hate PA and call it a scam.  Others say it's ok.  I'll have more firm opinions after my book has been out for a while.  The problems I listed above may be surmountable for a good author.  If I can surmount them, then I will say this whole experience was definitely worth it.  Some of the other problems that I've read about may be tougher to deal with.  Time will tell.
Like I said, I'll be happy to answer anyone's questions to the best of my abilities.

Yes, someone did ask me to come to the "living room" and talk about my experiences being published through PublishAmerica.  I will be glad to answer anyone's questions to the best of my ability.  My book doesn't officially come out until December 26th.  There are aspects of PublishAmerica that I haven't dealt with yet because my book isn't out yet.  But I am aware of some issues that have been discussed in other forums.  I'll try to be as fair and balanced as I can be, if anyone's interested.

Whether you're interested in PublishAmerica or not, I'd be delighted if you'd drop by my website!

Got it, and it works great!  This is really cool stuff!
My own website is my homepage, which means that every time I launch IE, it creates a hit on my site counter.  This is artificially inflating my site visit count.  Now I can just use FaRR to go straight to the sites I want, without visiting my homepage first.  Awesome!

I went to the link you posted, but I got one of those "This page cannot be displayed" messages.  I tried several times with the same result.

I'm wondering if FaRR can find and open URLs.  I didn't see anything in the help menu which explained how.
BTW, I'm new here, and I really like the software I've downloaded so far (FaRR, TicTocTitle).  This looks like a great group.
