General Software Discussion / Re: Slash your windows boot time

As they are only Soluto referencing Assembly-cache installed assemblies, just throw them out. They should really be uninstaller properly, for that you have to know the original names of the dll's (that's shown) and use gacutil -u on each of them, as documented here

But I'd send an e-mail to the Soluto guys and dolls, to warn them that their uninstaller doesn't remove all pieces of their software, as a proper uninstaller should :o

...auto-download during installation. Harmless details like that can make some people go crazy in a non-productive way ;)

As unfortunate as that (user)behavior may be, the JottiQ installer really throws a big Yes/No messagebox, listing all prerequisites and their sizes, at the user if (any of) the pre-reqs need to be downloaded and installed.

It might be a good practice to pre-announce that with the download-link (but not offer any links), so a really paranoid user can download these pre-reqs himself from the source he wants/trusts.
This installer downloads the proper web-installers from Microsoft and installs the frameworks, including their proper language-packs, as and if required by the OS at hand. 8)

Undesirable workaround hidden here...
If it gets really problematic, I could add a feature to select something like changing the Yes/No to Yes/No/Cancel, to either Yes:download & install, No:skip the pre-reqs & continue or Cancel:halt the complete installer, but that could  lead to a non-working installation of JottiQ (or anything else that uses the script-parts I used) and would not really be desirable, IMHO.

A "NANY" installer would be interesting. Something to install all NANY software.

But that's probably a bad idea unless people all create an installer that installs to */NANY 2011/author/program name.
Hm, that's actually quite a Good Idea (tm), I really feel for a pledge for NANY 2012 on this one :-*

Hm, missed this pledge and it's interim releases, just found out now you've released, sorry.

Seems to work alright, but a few 'nice to have's':
- For a newby user it's a but confusing how to add a new url, some hint or menuitem would come in handy
- Drag and drop for url's would be nice
- Can the captured data be reset in some way, without losing all url's
- The initial interval is quite aggressive, a bit more conservative, like 60 sec., would probably back-off the malware scanners' warnings
- I like charts, but they really miss a time-line

Just installed it, and it has really gotten better! The extra features just make the difference, and the UI improved by applying 'Less is more'.

And thanks for the credits 8) it was a nice job to do.
