... but can I still get a badge for giving a buck?

Ah, you want an extra badge :) apparently the NANY badge you currently have isn't enough :o

mouser could introduce a new badge like the current NANY badge: Counting the number of fund-raisers you participated in?
That would require this event to become at least yearly, ofcourse

Hmmmmmmmm, I guess MS is locked into "Internet Explorer" otherwise with the "cloud push" in all the ads I don't know why they don't come out with a browser named "Cloud."  It seems inevitable.

Didn't that happen today? IE 9.0 RC (Release: Cloud)

Fired up a VMWare session with Windows XP in it and tested your scenario. That helpctr thingy is just a little slow to initialize ;)
Used -xd 2000 and all was pasted fine. but you might need to tweak that experimentally.

Without further delays: Another update WinSendKeys 3.0.1

Latest release & download moved to separate thread

The readme has this changelog since 3.0:
; 2011-02-11, version 3.0.1
; + Added -xd delay option to wait after running the -x executable_filepath. It already has the delay of -t (100 msec), and this is added when specified. Experiment with the required delay (milliseconds).
;   as additionally requested by kikon in this thread: https://www.donation...ndex.php?topic=25553
; + This delay can be preset in the optional inifile, (see version 2.5 changelog)
;   Variable:
;   exedelay=0
; ! Updated helpmessage, fixed some readme typos

As usual, I updated the readme, compiled the AutoIt3 source into an exe, and put it all in a zipfile, attached to this post.

Unfortunately, standby mode has never been 100% stable for me, regardless of hardware or operating systems ...

Standby and Hibernate modes have been stable on my Toshiba and ASUS laptops (both Intel T6400 CPU's) running Windows 7 x64, and an MSI mainboard with Intel E8500 CPU and NVidia graphics running Vista x86. Earlier hardware (desktop systems) and OS versions nearly ever would work (a variety of Intel and AMD CPU's on several types and brands of mainboards, running from Windows 95 to XP).
So it's indeed both a hardware/BIOS and OS related issue. It's mandatory you have the latest WHQL-certified video drivers installed, next to all Windows updates, naturally.

3380
... Got it all set, but... I can't print! ...

Had exactly the same experience! Thought it was because I'm on Win7 x64, so I postponed further testing until they figure it out.

3381
@bob99: 2 possible slightly different causes:
- You could have other software that monitors the PrintScreen key, and sends a 'boop' sound because it detected another hook
- Your BIOS can also hook that key and 'boops' at you when the PrtScr button is pressed

3382
Fine idea!

Could we pull together enough DC coders to do a Coding-Snack-A-Day throughout all of march?

I'd be willing (and hopefully: able 8)) to help out there

DVD?

LOL ;D

3384
Oh, I tested -x using Notepad, as I don't have the software you're using.

3385
thank you Ath, but -x doesn't work yet. I used in various way, doesn't work :(
d:\run\WinSendKeys\WinSendKeys.exe -x C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\helpctr.exe -c

helpctr.exe just started and nothing is pasted.

Does it react to input directly after starting, or does it need some time to initialize before the paste/send action is accepted? That's currently not accounted for.
And is the focus initially in the correct (input)control? Maybe you'd need a bit of the MouseStroke options to guide the focus into the right place. Details for that are in the readme. (Handling-order is 1) Commandline parameters, 2) -f strokesfile, 3) -c clipboard contents).

3386
Dunno how official it is, but this page ha sat least an understandable opinion,

It's unclear whether Google "will do well to expand its business", but Chrome seems to be a part of a strategic initiative to make Google more visible on the desktop, a mix between Google Toolbar, Google Desktop and Gears that turned into a browser and that needs a critical mass to be taken seriously.

And then there's the official '10 things' philosophy (last revised sept. 2009): http://www.google.co...orate/tenthings.html
But you might want to take these with a few grains of salt...

3387
But what exactly is it they're storing that actually needs a database? Favorites? Cookies? Browsing history?
Correct, they build a search index as big as all words that where on all pages you viewed. But then they don't know how to find anything back in that pile... sort of. (not true)

Just open a new tab in FF, and start typing (in the 'address' field, not the search field) some words that where in URL's or pages you visited recently with FF. The suggestions are always pretty good, and saved my ass a few times, because I couldn't remember what site some info was on, but FF could!

Usually the SE phones are of quite good quality, but the featureset is not what I require from a smartphone.
Don't expect to be able to comfortably browse any standard website on that (tiny and low-res) screen though. If only being used for tethering, then it could be enough.

If you can get it for a reasonable (= low) price and on a carrier that has good coverage and a cheap data plan in your area, then I'd go for it.

...time to hack up a script doing nefarious things in the personal testing forum.
But afaics that doesn't count into your Posts...

Yet another update, and I've named it WinSendKeys 3.0 :-*

Latest release & download moved to separate thread

The excerpt from the changelog since 2.6, included in the source:
; 2011-02-09, version 3.0
; + Added -x executable_filepath option to start if WindowName is not found or executable filename is not found running
; + Added -xp executable_parameters option to specify parameters to executable_filepath

As usual, I updated the readme, compiled the AutoIt3 source into an exe, and pushed it all together in a zipfile, attached to this post.

I need phone's file manager and PC connection software to connect my laptop/PC to internet. Is it possible using blackberry ?

Not sure, don't own a BB, but could be tricky.
Android 2.2 does that, and WiFi tethering, out of the box though, so...

I'm not sure android phones are good for PC-internet use, most of the Samsung models are touchscreen, so..  :/

I'm using a Motorola Milestone (the Euro/GSM-version of the Droid) that has a real keyboard. It's also very usable as a touch-phone (without sliding it open). The internet speed is only depending on your 3G speed at that location. (But I'm still on Android 2.1, so no WiFi tethering yet)
Afaik the Droid2/Milestone2 has an even better keyboard (less 'tiles' layout, more 'brick wall' key placement), and the HTC Desire Z also has a real keyboard. There are also some LG models with actual keyboards, but I'm not too enthusiastic about LG phones

I was first going to write:
If you're a techie, or just want to be able to do anything with the phone: Get an Android phone in your price-range.
If you need a penis-enlargement/boob-job*: Get an iPhone.

But then I saw the requirement of not having a touch-screen (:o), so the only viable alternative was a BB.

*: Discard depending on sex

3393
I'll think about it for a bit, and write here what I decide.

Ok, I'll add a "-x" option, if it pleases you, that's fine (and fun) for me 8)

Living Room / Re: CPU Question: More Mhz per core or more cores?
« on: February 09, 2011, 01:37 PM »
Even a Quad-core is way overkill for that task, so I'd suggest to grab a high-MHz Intel Core i5-760 or i5-2400 processor, 4 or 8 GB Ram, Windows 7 x64, 1 TB 7200 rpm harddisk and a fine Videocard, using DVI or hdmi connection to a 24" LCD/LED monitor.

Get a Blackberry Curve or Bold, no touch-screen, a descent keyboard, good 3G connections, stable hardware, lots of extra apps and other goodies.

3396
?  What's a ramdisk?

And the price is even better :)

the language used almost makes it seem like a scam site.

Isn't that true for all those sites screaming all the big marketing mumbo-jumbo :tellme:

3399
I thought about that when working on this extension, but could not make a decision whether to add that as a feature or not. It's quite a different feature, as the executable of the file to load usually doesn't have much relation with the title of an active window. It would most likely require an extra commandline parameter. And while that's not really bad, it's imho a bit off of the original idea.

I'll think about it for a bit, and write here what I decide.

Living Room / Re: which is more important, system ram or video ram?
« on: February 08, 2011, 03:17 AM »
Going for that amount of RAM warrants looking for a descent mainboard first. One that supports this memory, and some extra if you might later need it. These boards support VMX in all cases, and the high-end CPU's supported also do.
Maybe you should go for a server mainboard, it can be had with multiple CPU sockets, so if a quad-core isn't enough for running all your VM's, you can add a couple more. Hm, then go straight for a XEON system, of the latest X56xx series, it really has superior VM performance, and is available on systems with lots of memory. But I'm not sure anything but Server OS's (Windows Server, VMWare ESX, Linux's) can boot from that board and what storage should be connected.

Oefff, I got a little excited :-[, but it was fun :D
