What happens when the user forgets their password?-JavaJones (February 17, 2011, 02:35 PM)
it shows how long it took the DC server to create and serve a page. That will normally be < 1second. If that is short and it took a long time for the page to load in your browser anyway, then you know the problem is not on our server but on the wider network. That probably doesn't include the load-time of any graphics on the page, like embedded images and user-avatars. I get page times often between 0.02s and 0.04s, but the entire page can take up to 10 seconds to load. Mostly depending on the amount of graphics, IMHO.-mouser (February 17, 2011, 08:25 AM)
It takes longer to start up from Hibernate on my netbook than doing a fresh boot. :-/Still glad I didn't get one of those It's totally not worth the annoyance.-Deozaan (February 16, 2011, 12:01 AM)
Okay, so I finally got some specs to compare to. I ended up building my sister a better machine for about $300 less than what the other person was trying to sell her.Wanna share those final specs?-Deozaan (February 15, 2011, 11:29 PM)
It looks like at first glance that that tool will require some serious configuration to convert an xml file to a nice output.
Sure would be nice to have something automated that maybe could read an xml file and make some reasonable assumptions in order to generate a nice looking layout.. or maybe use a kind of gui tool to let you configure the arrangements of fields for pretty printing..-mouser (February 15, 2011, 07:17 PM)
I'm working with an SQL database ...What database platform (brand) are you working with?-superboyac (February 15, 2011, 11:23 AM)
prev+next mod -- installed.Ah, that's nice, and quick , thanks!-mouser (February 14, 2011, 05:40 PM)
Oh yes, that would make life much more enjoyable when browsing DC on a smartphone. The page numbers are really small when you try to hit them with your finger on the touchscreen

What if the existing donations system was leveraged to work both ways. So that donations between members are split (say 50/50) with the DC. So if say I gave 40Hz a $10 donation, he would actually get $5 and the other $5 would go to DC.
Granted it would have to be time limited and made very (very) clear as to why/what was happening. But it could be an interesting way of greasing all the wheels at one time (so-to-speak).-Stoic Joker (February 14, 2011, 09:39 AM)
It would just be a mug available for purchase at that very high markup, so people who wanted to "donate" by buying it could. Just another funny way to donate.-mouser (February 14, 2011, 09:17 AM)
Perhaps for the fundraiser we could have a special mug or tshirt for those lucky and generous enough to be able to afford a large donation, that shows Cody's banker-looking Uncle (never before seen on a DC mug) sitting on top of a huge pile of his gold coins, thumbing through his bank book.
