@Contro:
Ok, I'll ask the 'big' question once, and please don't repeat the confusing flurry mesh of info you gave above: What goes into this black box, and what is the expected output? (IOW, what is it to be used for)

1 google search gave me enough information to find this makeuseof page (select Not Now in the red page-blocker when using a decent browser with an ad-blocker), providing not 1, but 3 step-by-step procedures to accomplish what you ask. With the standard product, so no utilities needed, only a rather simple skill: google

As you forgot to mention what Excel version you are using, I assume you have a decently modern version that has a ribbon (Excel 2007 or newer).

Some well meant advice:
You really, really, really!, shouldn't be using IE for actively browsing the interwebz. And if it has to be IE (usually because someone 'forgot' to phase-out ActiveX), then don't use anything older than IE 11.
On top of that: You really, really, really!, shouldn't be using Windows XP for actively browsing the interwebz. You'd better install some Linux distro in a VM to browse the interwebz.

OT: Please don't shout here, we're quiet people, most of the time.

Check for another application that takes hold of the PrtScr key, most notorious is MS OneDrive that often has this enabled by default. Stopping/starting Screenshot Captor just brings it to the top of the chain, so it will work for the rest of the (Windows) session.

It's been a while (~25+ years) since I used make for my Clipper (a dBase 3 compiler with many additional features) builds, so it's nice to see such a set of useful stuff. Thnx.

I'll attach the download here so you can try it, it's rather old (2009, that's not a typo), but it's the latest available. Please run some AV across it before actually trying it, just to be sure.

Living Room / Re: Connector SAS
« on: January 29, 2020, 01:04 AM »
Though SAS and SATA connections are quite alike, they aren't interchangeable. SAS drives are mostly used in servers and are usually much too expensive to be used in desktop systems.

OTOH, if you already own a SAS drive you can buy a PCI interface for your desktop system to connect that drive. Speed is usually similar to SATA, when used in a desktop system.

What about the standard Win10 toolbars?
Right-click on the taskbar, open Toolbars and select Desktop (like I did), or add a new toolbar, pointing to a folder where you create links to your files/applications as desired. Multiple toolbars can be defined.

Example of my (partial) Desktop toolbar:

The advantage of TrueLaunchBar (shareware) is that the menu pops out on mouse-hover, where the Windows toolbars need a mouse-click to open.

Well, it's not exactly the same, but you could have a look at 7+ Taskbar Tweaker

7 Stacks was last updated in 2011, so I have my doubts it will ever be updated again...

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Another configuration screen issue
« on: January 25, 2020, 04:41 AM »
You should be able to drag the right side of the setting panel to the left with the mouse:

Screenshot - 25-01-2020 , 11_36_16.png

(The drag handle moved a bit to the right when taking the screenshot...)
Just move the mouse over the separating line in the middle until it changes into a left-right drag handle, then click and drag to the left, (that might take some precision-mousing on your high-res monitor though :tellme:)

You can try several things:
  • Turn off check for update option in settings
  • Update your graphical drivers
  • Consider using a different editor

212
Have you tried playing with the Compatibility/High DPI settings per application? It's in the <Right-Click-icon>/Properties pages of the application.

And some applications support Ctrl-scroll-wheel-scrolling for scaling only their window/font.

Developer's Corner / Re: Any coders here on patreon?

If you're a programmer who hangs out here and you have a patreon account
It could be nice to have a Patreon icon that could be configured in the profile to point to the Patreon page, and displayed on the left with the other account icons... :-[

I do like the basic (pun intended) idea you are proposing, but for platform-independence I always choose Java. The required runtime is available for a gazillion different OS's. And Java is very well known programming language across the industry, so anyone else after me can pick up maintenance/extension at will, without having to learn this new, esoteric, programming language, install required tools, runtimes, etc... :o

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Possible suggestion -- variables in clips
« on: January 13, 2020, 02:07 PM »
You could use a custom date ('R - Time/Date TextClips' from the Quick menu of CHS, the extra format can be set on the 'Quick Paste Pop-up Menu' page in the settings), adding one in your desired format, lastpost%y%m%d would be the closest to your proposal I can think of, or replace %y with %Y for a 4 digit year.

I prefer the free, manufacturer supplied, Brother iPrint & Scan solution, available for my Brother Multifunction machine (not a very sophisticated model, but it works good enough for the minimal use here), providing access to both the print and scan features of that Multifunction. It is only usable from the local network though, but that's all I need (or want, for that matter).
Works equally well across Windows, Android and iOS.

In the 'nice numbers' category (and because I just missed the palindrome count 552255, yesterday )

For those that missed it...

  • On the settings pages, one button has the caption 'Edit focused' and another 'Remove selected'. IMHO, 'focused' should be replaced by 'selected', as focused is a seldom used term in this context.

Hmm, not 'fixed'. You can select more than one row in the ListView and then remove them in one go. With edit you can only do that for one row at a time (the last clicked row, which has the focus...). IMHO there need to be a distinction. Suggestions are welcome for other wording.
Well, 'Edit' actually works on the last selected item only, thus can be confusing to users (as the focused item isn't recognizable from other selected items). So an alternative solution could be to only enable that button when exactly 1 item is selected, less confusion, and 'selected' is correct.
Another solution could be to edit the selected items in succession (but I doubt if that would really be useful/helpful or less confusing).

the name of this app is it's hard to remember and pronounce
Well, SIMON then? (Shortcut In Menu Or Not) :P

Bugreport:

  • Besides .exe files, also .e and .ex extensions are found, and, after adding com to the list of extensions, also .c (and probably .co) files are listed. I'd expect these extensions to match exactly, and .e or .ex files are not executable files, AFAICS.
  • On the settings pages, one button has the caption 'Edit focused' and another 'Remove selected'. IMHO, 'focused' should be replaced by 'selected', as focused is a seldom used term in this context.
