N.A.N.Y. 2010 / Re: NANY 2010 Release: ClipTrap
« on: March 24, 2016, 11:35 AM »
It seems to me I've found my clipboard manager.
Your clipboard manager has all what I need:
- simple
- button to stop/start monitoring
- on top!

But why do I need to copy a line before being enable to copy it to the clipboard?
Why didn't you just make every line (every single clip) clickable?

ps: I confirm that it is wind10 compatible.

Very nice idea!
A very useful software.

Just a question:

I'm not enable to add this item:
Current Workday (8.00 - 20.00)
(repeating it every day)
After clicking on Apply and Accept, it returns to 0.00 - 0.00 again.

Isn't it possible to add such an item?

I have not enabled the Quick Capture Bar.  :)
Maybe your pc is faster than mine.

Btw, tried to restore the prefs (deleted the .ini file).
0.39-0.45 in tray
48-49 % saving the file

Screenshot Captor / CPU use
« on: September 29, 2013, 10:57 AM »
I noted today that screenshot captor has a continuously cpu usage in idle
state of 0,43-0,48% (till 48-49% to save a screenshot).

What does it do in idle state?

Screenshot Captor / Re: Esc Key
« on: September 15, 2013, 04:09 AM »
Yes you're right, it gives a windows error sound but it interrupts the screenshot.

Today I was a bit more conscious to try to see when I used the Escape Key when it didn't work.
I found it out.

I selected the region but the region was not correct, so I used immediately the Escape key after I released the left button, but it didn't react.
This morning I had the same thing again.

using the normal selected region capture mode, with the full screen size crosshairs, or using redbox mode?

The normal region capture mode :)

which kind of screenshot?

Capture selected region.

Thank you Mouser for the new update.  :)

I just want to write you that the <ESC> key doesn't work as it has to be (I suppose):

When I click <ESC> after having invoked a screenshot capture shortcut, the screenshot is not interrupted.
Is that a bug, or did I do something wrong?

Screenshot Captor / Re: The Great Screenshot Captor Ruler Debate Thread
« on: September 11, 2013, 01:33 AM »
I think rulers can have an importance but not only in a screenshot program but in all programs.
That's why I prefer to have an independent ruler on my pc. Most rulers don't even need to be installed so I don't see why it has to be included in a screenshot software.
Btw, I almost never user my ruler. Sometimes to measure the desktop or a width of a window.

What I think is the most important thing to adapt in Screenshot captor is the preferences menu.
There are too much features, to difficult to find.
I don't see any logic in the sorting of the different features.
I note that always when I need something to change I have to search minutes to find it, or worse, what happens mostly, I do a search online.
This morning I wanted to turn off the sound after capturing.
Couldn't find it immediately.

There is p.e. 2 x a post capture option:
In basic and advanced features.
Why not remove the word basic and advanced and put them all (in a simple way) in Post Capture?

There are also features in preferences, right aligned p.e. in Window capturing 1.
Is that an error?
Btw why Window Capturing 1 and 2?
Post Capture basic and advanced, Window Capturing 1 and 2.
Its all too confusing.

And I think it would be better to remove the word options in most off the words
at the left side in preferences.
p.e. scanner options --> scanner

There is also too much description text in all windows i.m.o.

Sorry, may'be other people see it different or maybe I'm looking too much at this kind of things
because we had years ago a software company who helped companies to make their websites more accessible (usability).

Thanks for your reply.

I already had the beta installed  :)

I would like to avoid the post-capture dialog at all.

Is there a way to go from a screenshot capture directly to the "save copy of image as" window, without going through the post-capture popup dialog?

Screenshot Captor / Open folder after save as.
« on: June 26, 2013, 03:12 AM »
After a "save as", screenshot captor opens the folder where I saved my file.
I always immediately close this folder.

A few times I tried to find out how to avoid opening this folder.
I couldn't find it.
Today I read 2 times all features in preferences and finally I found it in
More interface options: Open folder after save as.
It was enabled. I had to disable it.

Is it not an option to place in:
Post-capture options?

Was that a standard Command Prompt window or a different command processor, like 4Dos and it's cousins? And with or w/o Administrator privileges?

A command prompt window with Administrator privileges (start-->run-->cmd)

Yes I find it confusing also. Why not putting the DEL key command behind the red x icon?

Another confusing one is that "arrange items in the window by" doesn't work.
The one in the view menu (sort by..) does.

BTW..
Yesterday I had my first scrolling capture image that didn't work in SC.
When I started using SC I noted that many scrolling captures didn't work in Faststone Capt. but did in SC, yesterday I had the inverse: it did work in Faststone Capt. but not in SC. I could not find the correct capture in SC. (it was a dos window: SC captured it 2 times and placed them (as looking in a vertical mirror) side by side)

I'm using SC now for 3 weeks almost every day.

I noted that when I did a lot of capturing at the same time, the way of working with the editor and moving the screenshots all together afterwards to the right directory is a nice way of working. (the only little thing I found a bit disturbing is that the name is not selected after making a screenshot. After making a screenshot, the mouse is in the name field but the name is not selected. It was also impossible to delete more then one screenshot. I could select them all but when I clicked on the Red X only 1 screenshot was deleted)
However these are just little things.

When I had to do only one screenshot I found the editor disturbing.
I wanted to go immediate to the "save as" window, (where I can give the right name and extension to it). no popups.

What I wished also is that I could use my images directory as screenshot folder and that I could use a filter to see only certain files in SC explorer.
P.e. view only the screenshots I've taken with Screenshot Captor.
or view only the jpg files starting with "s". etc
I have too much images in my image directory (it slows down SC) and I don't want to see them all in the SC explorer. I don't want to see PDF and ZIP files as well.
That's why I used the temporary screenshot folder and had to move all screenshots afterwards to the final image folder.
Its one step more as needed.

I made also a few more scrolling captures.
It works fantastic. I like it every time I use it, more and more :)

Hope you appraise my comments and I hope you can do something with it.
I wish you and all other readers a happy day!
R.

I'm very very happy with the power of this great scrolling functionality. I do a lot of scrolling capture and noted in the past (using other software) that most software did not handle the scrolling capture very well. Almost no software does a correct scrolling capture in mozilla browsers. I often tried various software for a single scrolling capture screenshot to find out which one had the best output.
Now with these new functionality I have to say that I never used an other software for scrolling capture any more. SC has all in it.

Personally I don't have problems to pass every time the scrolling capture options but maybe there is a way to have two kinds of scrolling capture: Maybe mouser can separate them in automatic way / manual way. I don't know.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Screenshot lighting
« on: September 24, 2012, 12:56 PM »
Thank you Mouser. Happy to read that there is no difference between screenshots.

I suppose that I viewed both screenshots at 100% zoom, because they were very small
but I'm not 100% sure. I will keep an eye on it.

I disabled the smoothing. I don't see the light centered in the screenshot I saw a few days ago.

I'm happy to read your answer :)

A few days ago, I looked at the differences in screenshots after having saved the file.
Can it be that the differences are made during the saving method?

Thanks as always for your great support.

I tried a new way of working as you've intended with screenshot captor:
Putting all my screenshots in the temp folder and move it to the directory I want.
Its a different way of working but it has advantages also.

During my work with screenshots I noted that the screenshots I've taken were darker then the screenshots with faststone.
I tried to make them lighter with the tool "enhance and adjust colors, contrast etc."
First thing I noted is that this window (the enhance and adjust colors window) was not in english (my screenshotcaptor language) but in the language of my regional settings.

Then after using the tool to make my screenshots lighter I noted that the screenshots were becoming lighter mostly in the center of the screenshot and a bit less around.
I noted that seem thing also in the screenshot self (more light in the center of the image then at the sides of the image).

Faststone capture did not have these light bubbles in the center of the image.
Can you try to resolve this problem?

Great answers. Thank you very much.
Would you please consider also to drag and drop to the image display window in the editor?
That's where I intuitively
dragged the images from my file manager (total commander).
Most other software let you drag in the central window.

Thank you for your the rest of your answers.

tomos,

I would like to open a file without the thumbnail panel.
btw I can't make it work as well with the thumbnail panel dragging to the panel as you told me to do.

found it: screenshot panel check box :)

---------

I tried to drag and drop an image file in the SC editor (without the screenshot panel)
That doesn't work??

how do I open an image in the editor without the screenshot panel?

---------

Tried with the screenshot panel to see all files (only the file names).
How do I avoid all the PDF and ZIP files in the list?
Can I filter what I want to see and not want to see?

---------

I tried to adapt the files in the screenshot panel to:
- arrange items in the window by date
- views: details

I restarted SC and above setting where gone again to the
default: views: list / arrange items in the window by name.

(btw when I change the arrange items in the window by date nothing happens)
(clicking on the date modified (or size or type) column doesn't do anything as well)

Sorry that I write you a few more things.

I always save the screenshot images in my d:\ directory (the root).
I have there over 100 images.
When I double click on the SC icon it takes a few minutes before I see the SC editor.
I suppose it is because of the thumbnail directory
Is there a way to disable the thumbnail directory (without changing the default directory)?

I would like to ask you also if it is possible to disable the preview block when I save a file with a name. (not to disable the preview link but the preview block. I've never used it. It shows up always as in my attachment (see attachment). I find it a bit disturbing this empty block at the side of the window.

Yes, that does not seem unreasonable -- I will try to add it.

Thank you Mouser for your (as always) great support!
Thank you Renegade and Tomos as well.

1) I wish I could avoid the popup box for every screenshot and go immediate to the "save as" dialogue (as in fastst.capt. or picpick or snagit). Would it be possible to add this feature in screenshot capture as well?
2) Thank you. That resolved my question.
3) I prefer to do direct a freehand capture without going in the edit menu. However it is not disturbing me as much as the "pop-up" menu before the "save-as" dialog.
I rarely make freehand screenshot captures but find the pop-up dialogue before every save-as dialogue. :)

BTW I almost never used the editor in any capture software.
Only when I need to manipulate some image file.
What could be done in 1 step, I prefer to do it in 1 step. :)

I have never used a Quick Capture floating toolbar (and will never do it). :)

I suppose there is a 3rd mode to work.
- Let it do by the software as most as possible and only change a setting once in a while for an optional different need (p.e. using a quick-menu in the system tray).

You know Mouser, you wrote that Screenshot Capt. is designed to make it work quick and easy. My idea is just that it does a lot of things but not always easy to do or (as p.e. in the examples in my questions above) with one or two clicks too much. Strange how perception is different between different users :)
