FF used to let you do that but version 75 won't allow that anymore.

I'm trying to print and/or save 2 sites WYSIWYP (ex. like making an exact copy of how a Web site looks).

PDF loses formatting.
I don't have nor use IE.

I can't download and install any addition to the 2 browsers we must use - Chrome and The Edge.

I have Brave on my laptop but no one seems to know how to make  it WYSIWYP.

Thank you for your thoughts/suggestions.

Hi All,

I just tried copying/pasting the whole web page into clipboard but I must have something askew.

After Shift/F2, I typed in (w/o quotes or parens) "screenshot(sp)--fullpage(sp) clipboard"
but it doesn't seem to copy/paste anything.

I can do the screenshot of just what's on screen (not the whole web page) by typing in "screenshot(sp)--clipboard"

Thanks so much!

Tomos,

No, I kept the Detroit Tigers folder with the space but I could never find that copy of the png.

So, I just retried capturing but instead of copying to the Detroit Tigers folder I just copied to the one word Baseball folder and that worked.

Maybe I have to just make peace with copying content to one word Windows folders or to the clipboard and then paste that into the two word folder?

Thank you!

Here's something I've noticed.

If in that command bar I type screenshot -- C:\\Sports\\Detroit Tigers (as a folder) it deplores that space between the ending "t" in Detroit and the beginning "T" in Tigers.

If I then try, C:\\Sports\\DetroitTigers\\hits (with hits as the new name for the new content captured on a Web site it seems to copy it but I can't find it anywhere on the hard drive even after doing a full Windows search of the entire hard drive for anything created since yesterday through today.

However, If I then try, C:\\Sports\\Baseball\\hits - it copies it to the Baseball sub-folder where I can find it easily.

So, I wonder if it just doesn't like 2 worded Windows sub-folders?

It has problems saving to a 2 worded sub-folder but not a one word sub-folder

Gotcha!

Thank you so much!

Hmmm

If I type C:Photos\filenamehere it says "Can't use.

If I place a space in between the : and Photos - C: Photos\filenamehere - it says Too many arguments.

7
I just tried typing in screenshot--C:\Photos\filenamehere and it says it doesn't recognize screenshot.

I then backspaced the word screenshot out and left C:\Photos\filenamehere and pressed Return but nothing happens.

Hmmm.

I just tried screenshot --clipboard and that works well.

When I type in (without quotes) C:\ or c: it says it can't recognize that so I'm not sure how users could designate a certain folder each time they did a screenshot capture. Ex. C:\Photos, then the next screen capture C:\Pets, etc.

I may have to just use the clipboard.

Thanks so much.

Hi Hamradio,

I typed in help screenshot in that command bar which appears when you press Shift/F2 in FF but I didn't see exactly who I control where the copied screenshot can be saved - even to clipboard so I could open it in Paint and then save it to a folder I select at that time.

I was interested in ....

One - saving the captured content to a specific folder while using the Shift/F2 function (so it's not automatic once I press the Return key but rather so I can instead choose which folder in Windows I want the content saved to and ...

Two - how I can save the captured content to clipboard and then open Paint to save it in a different format than .png and to a folder of my choice at that time.

This is such a great way of saving content so I very much appreciate all your help.

Worked perfectly just typing in ...screenshot.

Thank you again for all your kind and much appreciated help.

Hi Ham Radio,

I was wondering what I would type in, using your ingenious FF technique, in FF to just capture a screen shot of what I see on a website using FF?

Instead of typing in ... screenshot --fullpage ...would I type in screenshot --just this screen?

Thank you so much!

12
Hamradio,

Works perfectly!

Again, thank you ever so very much for all your kind help.

Hamradio,

Is there a setting which can be changed so I can direct where I want the web page png file saved?

Ex. in FF under Options > Downloads I have it set to always ask me where I want the file to be saved.

I didn't see in the web developer toolbar or options where I could set it to prompt me where I wanted a web page captured as a png to be saved.

Does it have that flexibility?

Thanks so much.

Hey Hamradio,

You're a genius!!

I just followed your suggestion - screenshot --fullpage and sure enough it copied the whole page and saved it.

Do you know of any way to tell FF which folder to save the png file in?

Or does it have to save it to a particular folder every time?

Thanks you ever so very much!!

Hey Hamradio,

I think you're on to something!

In my FF version 24 I can select Tools>Web Developer>Developer Toolbar (you're correct it is also Shift/F2).

I've never used this function so I kinda' get lost after that.

There's a command-type prompt which appears at the bottom of the screen with all sorts of things.

I'm not sure what my next step is after laughing the developer toolbar?

I'm not clear on how to get to screenshot yourfilename.png --fullpage?

I'm also not sure how to ...screenshot --clipboard --fullpage?

I can press the PrntScreen button on my keyboard but I don't think that will grab the whole webpage as I scroll down, or can it?

Also, how do I reach ...help screenshot?

Thank you ever so much!

Hi Mouser,

Thank you ever so much for replying!

I have Firefox version 24.

Someone mentioned an extension called "Scrapbook" and then "Scrapbook Plus"

I downloaded and installed both but I get pop up menu with all sorts of options - some already have check marks next to them and the default save folder is the Root Folder - which I'm guessing is the C drive - the root directory?

Might you have any ideas you cna please share about what options I should check/un-check using Scrapbook?

Also, how does one scroll to capture web page content using Scrapbook?

Unless, you have found a better FF extension or add-on?

Thank you so much again for all your kind help,.

Hi,

I'm a newbie.

I just downloaded the program and I'm not sure how to scroll down so I can save all the content I see on a web page beyond just the first screen which could be saved with print screen?

Once I've captured all that content, how do I save all that as a jpg? Tiff? PDF?

Thanks so much!
