Seems of rather limited utility since you can't depend on it to be there.  Safety deposit box in an unlocked vault.

And can you depend on your hard drive to be there?  No matter what?  Most people I think, use online backup as sort of an "off site" type of backup.  You back up locally, then copy your backup to an off site location.  At least that's how I'd hope most people use it.  And if you pick reputably, then you can be a lot more confident of your online backups.

Not really.  Most backup sites only give you the space for one copy- they don't give you 100GB instead of 50GB... it's a space to put your backups.

There are quite a few cheap options without FTP... Jungle Disk and ZumoDrive being two others.  I'm working on evaluating the differences between these options right now But I'm afraid that most of the cloud services seem to frown on FTP, though you get more storage for your use giving up that protocol, and most are available through a myriad of means.

And you'll be waiting for a long time, if the feel I got from talking with the IDM representative about a discount for DC is correct.  They don't really believe in discounting the primary product- just piling stuff on to make the bundle sell for the same price as the primary software.

Heh.   People say that Bakshi's seminal fantasy work is Wizards.  Or they point to the Lord of the Rings.  But Fire & Ice will always be it for me... the combination of Bakshi and Frazetta was unbeatable!

To me, it seems more like a form of tyranny where people are imprisoned for no good reason. The marijuana example seems to be an excellent one. Pot-heads don't run around robbing, raping and murdering. They're pretty harmless.

The ones you know.  I can say that knowing a wide range of them that some do, and their actions support other such crimes even if they don't do them directly.  And the idea that there's no long term detrimental effect?  I can also say that knowing a wide range of them, that's complete BS.  I'm not one that's against legalization- heck, the legalization and regulation of 'recreational drugs' would be the biggest blow the so-called War on Drugs could achieve.  Just look at the end of prohibition for an example.  But I'm under no illusions that weed is any better (or any worse) than any other drug.  It's the use of them that causes the problem.

Do you actually have an iPad yet? My impression is that the weight and need to constantly hold/prop up the thing actually is a detraction for comfortable long-term reading vs. even a netbook, which can stand in a readable position on its own quite easily.

I haven't purchased yet, but I have two co-workers who have, and the weight is a bit overstated IMO.  But then again, my first venture into the tablet world was the first Motion Tablet Computer and I used to use that to read, so this is really no comparison as far as weight is concerned.

The battery supplied gets a lifetime that is within the range that I would expect.  If they advertise 6.5 hours, I'd say 5-6 hours is good from my experience with that difference.  They have a 9-cell battery, but it's pretty big.  And carrying around an extra battery just so I can go all day?  Not really appealing.  And, as I stated in my second post, I sort of understated the differences.  I just don't really need a keyboard for my uses, and it actually gets in the way/makes using the device unwieldy for reading, which is my primary use for it, whether that is a book, a comic, or a website.

I wonder what the difference is that makes the difference in battery life.  Mine only advertises 6.5, but yours advertises 10.5.  Strange...
