perhaps this is the reason.

Dropbox may seem like it doesn't need a lot of RAM to operate. The truth is: there's a lot of complexity under the hood!

For instance, Dropbox has to keep track of a lot of information about your files in order to make sure it can sync files quickly and efficiently. The more files you have in your Dropbox folder, the more memory Dropbox will need to keep track of them. That said, we are constantly working on making Dropbox more memory efficient and we continue to have significant improvements with each major release.

For our advanced users

Want more details? Dropbox stores metadata on your files in RAM to prevent constant and expensive database lookups while syncing. The metadata includes paths to files in your Dropbox, checksums, modification times, etc. We are working hard on making this information more compact and are working on several fronts to improve memory usage. Our techniques are not limited to rewriting pieces of our source code and writing custom memory allocators.

I need a way to caption image files, automatically in bulk, using the original file name. Something like "Grand Canyon North Rim.jpg to "Grand Canyon North Rim".  In other word, I'm to lazy to add text manually for each file.

Here is a possible solution using FastStone Image Viewer (Free for home use).

mouser, between "capturescreeen" and "capturedesktop", can you add another option like captureprimaryscreen or capturemonx, where 'x' is the number of the monitor to be captured?

86
Or for plugins generally in Firefox do
about:plugins
to see where they live and pick them off manually.

yup i got to the about:plugins page but like tomos, i was making a general statement on how convoluted the process is.

87
yeah, I think you're right - there's also the option to "Never Activate".
I posted more because I was suprised that unlike addons, plugins cannot be uninstalled. (And there's a few here I didnt install e.g. "Primetime Content Decryption Module provided by Adobe Systems, Incorporated 11"). So yeah, it was a more general comment.

To uninstall Firefox's Flash plugin you need to download an Uninstaller from Adobe's website.

shrugs :-\

While waiting for Adobe to release its patch, Mozilla have disabled Flash plugin in Firefox. if you're using some other browsers, this article by How-To Geek should have you covered.

« on: July 03, 2015, 09:20 AM »
that could well be the case,
but the main Screenshot Captor window does show in the regular Alt-Tab (and does not show in the AHK script version of AltTab).

I do remember there being some problem alright with SC though :-\
was it that it disappeared from Alt-Tab when a dialogue (e.g. preferences) was open?

on my Win7 (x64), SC icon disappears from the taskbar when it goes behind other windows and also when I move the main window from one monitor to another. I bet mouser will have a look into this soon, now that his cabinet project has been successfully completed.

Note:
# it misses my open Screenshot Captor window.
# I cannot figure out how to access the settings tab
# it is not showing in the tray here (AHK scripts normally do)

@tomos: this is a very good ahk script. i had used this for quite some time.

as for the notes:
item #1: that has something to do with SC itself. i have highlighted this to mouser.

unfortunately the settings tab is incomplete but you can edit the script and change manually starting from line 80 onwards. you can also view the "Alt_Tab_Settings.ini" which is created by the script.
also if you don't let go of the Alt key when you press Alt+Tab, you can access more settings by right-clicking on the list-view (as can be seen from the screenshot that I had posted).

for item #3, you have comment line 149 by adding a ;  e.g. ;#NoTrayIcon and reload the script.

hope this helps.

Finished Programs / Re: DONE: automated mp3 rip from video clip
« on: June 28, 2015, 09:24 AM »
A interface. Any interface. A blank page that says "drag video here" is even better than nothing. Dragging a video into the application icon is really a cumbersome and time consuming for people like me who use FARR or shortcuts.  One workaround I have come up with is to put video2mp3 into my sendto menu and send videos that way, but a drag-n-drop window would be great ^_^

I have a basic drop window for my personal usage. it has no function of its own other than to pass the filename to skwire's app. if you want, i can post it here.

Developer's Corner / Re: AutoHotKey text replacement question
« on: June 28, 2015, 12:53 AM »
@kyrathaba: If you're using Autohotkey to develop the auto-correct script, you can look up Hotstrings.

for starters, you can use something like this below though it is not accurate due to examples such as "an umbrella" vs. "a university".

Code: Autohotkey [Select]
  1. :*:a a::an a
  2. :*:a e::an e
  3. :*:a i::an i
  4. :*:a o::an o
  5. :*:a u::an u

thanks for the quick update! i've added PixCalc to the totalcmd's app menu.

97
@BGM: is there a way to pass an mage via command-line? btw, thanks for the update

98
nice looking app, BGM. thanks for sharing! :Thmbsup:

99
thanks for the update, phitsc! downloading now.. :)

You actually can't separate by commas right now, because commas are used as a separator for the strings/characters by which you want to split. Kind of stupid. Will fix.
thanks phitsc, looking forward to the fix. :up:
