Living Room / Mid-range DSLR Camera Recommendations
« on: January 31, 2013, 10:34 AM »
My family is looking to replace our small digital camera with something more robust. We were previously the owners of a Canon EOS 50d but found that to be overkill for our needs. We are looking for a good mid-range DSLR camera. We are not very picky on what features it has, just that pictures are of decent quality and there is a good lens selection available should our needs change as we progress. Additionally, we would like to see an HD movie recording mode for short snippets while out and about.

Oh donationcoder gurus, we reach out to you!

Necro-Thread Revival Powers, ACTIVATE!

Does anyone have any new input for this? I would love to see threads from a similar domain displayed under a primary tab, or even available via hover - click.

Thoughts?

General Software Discussion / Re: 2013 Version: Browser Wars

To be honest, I've had a love-hate relationship with opera. I really have tried to like it. I've made it my default browser, uninstalling all others so I wouldn't be tempted to swap, for months at a time. The problem comes into play when multiple services or sites would fail to work. Yes, Opera does a good job explaining to me that many of these sites intentionally block opera and that there is nothing they can do. To a point, I understand this. My problem, really, is that all other browsers work fine. That, and the fact that they were late to the extensions game helped other browsers get a big foothold on that market. Extensions on opera leave a lot to be desired. Yes, Opera is nice, but I really cannot see making it my default browser any time soon.

But in the end, whatever works for you, use it. I will do the same and right now, that is Chrome as it has been for the last year.

Chrome! Plain and simple.

I would not use any other browser. It is fast, has the extensions I need to remain productive, and works on any page I throw at it. In fact, I can't remember ever seeing chrome crash since I started using it.

https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Starting_the_Software_With_Parameters

swriter -n TEMPLATE.FILEEXT (Opens a new file based off TEMPLATE.FILEEXT)
swriter -o TEMPLATE.FILEEXT (Opens the Template for editing)

So yes, this is completely relevant to how LibreOffice handles command line switches since most programs treat argv[1] as the file to open without any other switches specified.
