@mouser v.2.20.01
With me, check for updates - nothing seems to happen.
Maybe because with beta's this may not make sense(?), maybe the link to the latest version is broken, I don't know.
Leave this to you. Would expect CHS to at least 'tell me' that I am running the latest version. Agree?

Noticed that when importing the ExportedClips.txt file into Excel, in column 'A' some date-time settings show up and sometimes something else.

Looks like this

CHS-Export to Excel-031013.png
=

Now what is listed there, like 2013-08-29 03:29:32.598  it does not exist in the CHS database.
Same for the other examples.

They are not in  2274 or 2273 (or 3156/3155, 3221/3220)

It is not a big thing, I can delete it manually.

There may be roughly 7-8 such entries in the entire list.

254
Is that in the pop-up window? With me in 2.20.01 it reads [Cancel]-[OK].
Or should I look elsewhere?

255
hi mouser, maybe what traciwil meant is whether the clipboard suggestion has been implemented (??)
which is not yet the case as the idea was dated aug.31 and the latest version is aug.29, 2013, so it can't yet be in the CHS  :)
sure, it will be included not long from now.
keep up the good work!

ps: pls note that ClipMate will not be developed any further. Due to spam, the forum has already been closed for quite a while.
At the time it was still up and running and whilst users were puzzling about the future of ClipMate, I recommended to check out CHS.
Though ClipMate is still okay and running fine right now (why shouldn't it?), likely people might gradually move over to some other tool
bearing in mind that CM will 'end'.  Hopefully they will pick CHS as it roughly has the same layout ('explorer'-view)

(1)
- sort clips on date, newest at the top
- select the top.. two clips (i.e. the latest ones)
- click on merge
- ctrl-a  - ctrl-c
- click on cancel
with me, the pointer jumps to the oldest clip.

(2)  almost the same as above:
- sort clips on date, newest at the top
- select the top.. two clips (i.e. the latest ones)
- click on merge
- click on OK
- select merged clip
- delete merged clip
with me, the pointer jumps to the oldest clip.

Also see: "CHS at first launch always starts up selecting the last but one oldest"

Yes, it is a bit quiet, but I am sure a new version will be released soon...??

Hello to you,

Ron's Renamer - I am not sure whether your product supports

1/ Regular Expressions (which flavor? Java?)
2/ Regular Expressions : Lookahead and Lookbehinds  (currently there are hardly any renamers supporting this feature, found FlexRenamer that does this to some extend)
3/ Piping with the lookaheads, like: (?<!((this|or|that)) - FlexRenamer does not support this, I have not found any renamer supporting this.

@4wd

Just want to say: I am very happy with the tool/button.

I have used this numerous times already. It is really great!
Frankly, I think there is nothing much to improve really.

Maybe, maybe . . . just one minor 'tweak' - although it could be difficult to implement.

Personally, in 99% of the cases, I always redate after newest file in the folder.
Actually, I've never used renaming after the oldest except for testing purposes only.

The button (or context menu), works fine right now.
If you donot wish to make any changes, believe me, I understand. Then forget the below.

Still curious...?? :D

Then I have two suggestions:

1) when updating folder date, would it not be possible to:
a) update two or all dates at the same time?
e.g. modified/created, or 'all'
(at least often modified/created go 'hand-in-hand', i.e. they are both about the same date)

2) have a kind of default setting added
This to come up when clicking on the button and no(!) folders are selected.
Right now, when clicking on the button and NO folders are selected... nothing happens - rightfully so.

Maybe in thát case
a) the button-window to pup up - with greyed out [Exec All] [Exec]-buttons
b) users can then 'set' things (e.g. select 'All' and 'Newest')  and click on 'save' so those are then 'defaulted'
c) in future when redating there the pop-up window will not appear anymore, i.e. folder is redated as per settings.

BUT.. again, maybe this is too complicated, in which case, drop the idea... okay?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Configurable taskbar buttons ?
« on: September 11, 2013, 09:44 AM »
Yes, personally I only use the left mouse button and would like to have 1x left click do the same as double click, bring up explorer view.
But others may like the way it works now, so it would be nice to have this 'user configured' somewhere in settings.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Configurable taskbar buttons ?
« on: September 09, 2013, 12:29 AM »

There is hardly anything I could wish for with CHS.

Yes, one thing . . .

Configurable buttons when clicking on the taskbar. To check the contents of a clip ( Explorer view), I always left-click on the taskbar once only - whereas I should double click it. It is a habit, I don't know. Maybe because other tools act the same way, like SnagIt, Kaspersky and my previous clipboard manager

I know, I can leave CHS open, showing in the taskbar and I can click on that, but I forget about this.

It is no big deal, just a bit peculiar.
When I launch CHS it last but one oldest clip is always selected.

I scroll up to the top, matter solved. :)
Maybe it is some setting, I don't know, but I would expect CHS to start at the newest one.

Site/Forum Features / Sending PM's
« on: September 08, 2013, 12:53 AM »
It puzzles me that under "My Profile" there is no Inbox/Outbox for PM's.
At least, I can't find it.

It only shows up when I want to send someone a PM, but, as said, the in and outbox are not displayed under my profile.

Maybe this is correct. My experience with other forum sites is that personal messages are often displayed in the profile sections.

General Software Discussion / Re: Path too long utilities supere barrier
« on: September 08, 2013, 12:37 AM »
Just a tip, the link to your site on your personal info is not working. www.favessoft.com  does not exist, could not be found. Maybe it is down.
Of course that also counts for the link on http://www.softpedia...esSoft-LLC-8612.html.

Meanwhile, did you consider to create complete path too long tool yourself?
the TLPD gets me a text results only, so I have to check that out and go into the various subfolders, which is a lot of work.

A new tool would show the results above userprovided threashold in a GUI, allowing the users to jump to that folder and shorten the names of the folder and files, etc.

I am using Opus and can do a 'find *.*'  action with advanced option: pathlength more than nnn characters.
From the results I can go to the parent folder, I can do renames, etc.

However,  for non-Opus users, frankly, there is not much around on Internet.

Maybe it is worthwhile to create a similar tool?
Just a suggestion.

@tomos,thanks for tips!

i have updated the 'instructions'.
guess this is by now detailed enough to get things going.

@4wd
thanks.
frankly . . . I did not know about this...
this is, or course, much easier!

added this to 'instructions' as well  :)

Many many thanks!

(Sorry for the delay)

Looks fine to me

Below screenshots are of the actions in Directory Opus.

1) In the right window panel: Select (multiple) folders

2) from the context menu - Select Adjust Timestamp

You have something in that column ?

=

271
hi mouser

what is currently exported to .txt  are these details (in Excel, I have 'transposed' the data from rows to columns.

(Index, UserKeywords, ClipType, ParentId, ParentGroup, OtherGroups, Application, FullApplicationPath, WindowTitle, Title, Description, ImageIndex, ExcerptText, ClipText, CreationDateTime, ModificationDateTime, ViewDateTime, MarkDateTime, DueDateTime, IsFavorite, UserFlag, UserCheckbox, UserRating, Protected, Ordering, ClipFormatNum, DataSize, FileList, ExtendedData, FileCount, HashText)
=
SnagIt-04092013 082238.png
=
I am not sure about Clip Text, with me it remains empty.

=
SnagIt-04092013 084516.png
=

btw, with some rows, I think CHS has a small 'hick-up'  as it puts dates in the index column.
no idea why.
note that clip ID 2464  was clip that I deleted myself (likely a merged clip).
in my collection, which is small as I just started with CHS (just close to a 1000 clips only), there are 4 of such clips.
so, not a big issue.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Export to single .txt files (adding date-time)
« on: September 03, 2013, 09:29 AM »

Currently clips are exported to a single .txt file.

They can be imported into Excel, comma delimited.
Then again, in case of larger text clips only a small part is being transferred, viz ExcerptText only (the actual body is mostly skipped)

Would it be possible to export all text-clips in full (i.e. the complete text) to separate .txt-files, whilst adding date-time to the filenames.

These text files are then 'searchable' by desktop search tools, like X1:  the files will show up in the X1-interface.
(That said, yes..., one can do a quick search in CHS as well..)

Needcase, if users wish so, the single filenames can be joined into one large .txt file.

Or, if .. in the unbelievable scenario.. for any reason ...
someone stops using CHS and removes it, the data has gone.

Or.. the datafiles/backups  are corrupted

then it would still be nice to have the .txt files available.

For me: if the date-time is on the end of the file, I have a button in Directory Opus that will update the modified/created date/time attributes, taking the dates/times from the filenames.

I know, I have suggested this in the beta/release thread, but I feel I should submit this as a separate request.

TIA

@tomos,

yes Sir! Directory Opus alright... :)

This is by far ... the best Windows Explorer replacement with an unbelievably lot of features and a very active forum.
It isn't cheap but worth every cent.
(No, I donot have shares, just a very enthousiastic user)

later . . .

Matter solved: added root folders to library.
I can now generate a print from all folders using the library.
Have to confess, did not think of this before as I have never been using the library sofar.

For me the matter is solved.

To everybody: thank you all for thinking along with me!

@krksoft : maybe the issue I submitted in my earlier post, might help to further improve your program?
(if -of course- it is something that cannot be yet solved by the program already)
