Indeed sometimes a bit slow, I donot have sound on, but I look at the button in the taskbar to see when it arrives in CHS.

Or, the button on the taskbar flashes, so I would think the clip arrived in CHS, but ... nothing, no clip.

Trying a couple of times.

Bottomline I have get the clip from ClipMate,  that is also running.

Maybe there is an easy solution for the following, I donot know.

So, I had a couple of textclips merged to 1 big textclip
and I wanted to search for a specific word/line  in  this merged clip  -only-

I tried with "Modify Format/Case" then in the presets "Find and replace"
entered the word, but nothing happened - tried a few times)
(my workaround : copy paste the stuff into MS Word and searched there)

Apart from the idea of the Google-button, what about having the same filter as at the top of CHS ?
but now in the clip panel.

Say, a bit like this

@mouser - did you have the chance to look at this?
maybe it is too complicated, in which case, forget it   :)
Thanks!

Okay, many thanks in advance.

Ah yeah, take good care of yourself! More important than some file attribute changer  :)

The bushfires in Queensland are on tv here. Seems to be the biggest ones in 40 years, they say.
Looks like they are a yearly occurrence, but started early this time. Queensland is pretty hot (37 degr c I think)
Where you live (at least are Scoresby) daytime temperature is about 18-20 I think.

Are you still considering this?

I have tried out many attribute changers, but fact is, none them is complete.

The tool would combine a number of features:
the existing FolderDate tool
+
[new] file attribute changes

something like:

It doesn't look nice - I simply put a few things together.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Find and Replace Preset
« on: October 20, 2013, 12:17 AM »
Hello,
up front, I am not an Excel expert...

am not sure if this can be solved within the current Clipboard Help and Spell.
under "Modfy Format/Case" one can add \n to lines but not to words.

Anyway, a suggestion only...

I would download a named ASAP Utilities at: http://www.asap-utilities.com/
basically it is free
".. you are hereby licensed to use the SOFTWARE without charge in a non-commercial organization or for home-use.
To avoid the use of obsolete SOFTWARE each unregistered version will display an update notice 6 months and expires 9 months after its release
."

It installs a plug-in with a lot of handy features.

Within ASAP this is really a piece of cake:
Click ASAP tab, then select Columns & Rows  and then  Merge row data, separated cells by a line break

See below.

Maybe this is what you are looking for?

Good luck!

Site/Forum Features / Re: I give up: how to find my forum postings?
« on: October 19, 2013, 09:42 AM »
Two ways:

First, you can do so from your Profile -- if you click the "My Profile" link at top, then near top left you will see a link "Show Posts".

AH! Yeah, there ...
Ahum .. :-[

Geee..
Eh ... I did not ask anything, right?

Thanks. Okay, I have increased it from 9999  to 999999
Will keep an eye on.

This must the issue, I guess.

Could it be that after a big clipboard, which is rejected because it was too big, any other clipboards thereafter are also "rejected"?

I had a 40 line plain text document, nothing special, it did not get into CHS.
I re-tried just now (after reboot of pc), all okay.

Anyway, will keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the quick feedback.

Site/Forum Features / I give up: how to find my forum postings?
« on: October 19, 2013, 09:31 AM »
I think I might have asked it before: how to find my postings?
If so, I forgot.

Normally there is a button like "View your posts"

Thanks.

Noticed that sometimes clips are not stored in CHS.

Frankly, I donot know why this is happening and consequently the matter will be un-solvable.
I have another clipboard manager also running, my old one
This works fine: clips arrive in both managers.

But sometimes the clips are in the other clipboard manager but not in Clipboard Help and Spell v.2.20.01

Hopefully CHS is still being developed, it got awfully quiet here.

Maybe, some time in future, the final version will be released and that issue will be solved  :-)

My DSL line is regularly dropping. I'd like to monitor it.

Right now I am using "PuttyTel" to log in on my monitor and use a command to get the history of connects/re-connects.

It gets me the date/time (but also some additional info like download/upload speed, signal ratio, bla bla).

However, PuttyTel closes after a very short while and I would need to launch it and or do the command each time over and over
to keep it open.

Using a texteditor I 're-work' the PuttyTel log file  to:

Aug 20 15:43:57 up   (down: 6150 kbit/s, up: 1029 kbit/s; snr Margin Down: 7.5 dB, Up: 10.0 dB)
Aug 20 15:50:07 down

Most network tools are either way too complex / offer way too much features for this simple thing.
Or the data is presented in graphs (I'd like to have it in a text/html/csv file)

Am looking for a simple freeware tool, that simply records when the line is down and up again.

The only tool I have found sofar is "Internet Connectivity Monitor" v.1.41, which records everything, i.e. the pings every 5 seconds.
(I only need date/time the line is up and same when it is down)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

@4wd:

Maybe have two folders in the zip file
\Windows Explorer
\Directory Opus

Add textfile

"
There are two executables in the archive, one for Windows Explorer, (SetFolDate.exe), and one for file managers, (SetFolDateFM.exe) - they are not interchangeable.
To install the Explorer version, copy SetFolDate.exe it where you want it to reside and run it.  Click Install and it will be added to the context menu for folders - Done!
"

For Directory Opus - maybe include attached PDF

Maybe add version?

Keep up the good work!

Basically it would be everything in the BulkFileChanger stuff,

plús:

Item [Dates]
New, tag/untag option: [X] Apply to all files and folders in subfolders

Item [File Attributes]
same as above

Opus has this feature for attributes, but has no   "Copy from ... "

I have not found any free attribute changers that can do this.

Hello again,
Frankly, I have not looked at BulkFileChanger because one element was missing/is missing on the printscreen of Nirsoft.
However, it is available in the real version: copy from ... options - being a major improvement.

=
Nirsoft BulkFileChanger v1.25.jpg
=

It -sofar- has not an option to copy from 'oldest' date-time.

Also I am not sure how to 'incorporate' this in Opus, i.e. I would select one or more files, then hit a F-button, or a toolbar button, then the bulkchanger to be launched -with- the selected file(s), preferrably even with the action window opened, like in the above example.

as for item -c-
Yes, that is a complicated one, I know. I have thought about this already a few times.
Regretfully I could not come with any other solution that having the formats in a kind of .ini or .cfg file or .txt file.
A txt file with various possible layouts

from: filename dd-mm-yyyy hhmmss.ext (.+)(\d{2})-(\d{2})-(\d{4}) (\d{6})\.\.(\w{2,4})
from: filename ddmmyyyy hhmmss.ext (.+)(\d{2})(\d{2})(\d{4}) (\d{6})\.\.(\w{2,4})
from: filename ddmmyy hhmmss.ext (.+)(\d{2})(\d{2})(\d{2}) (\d{6})\.\.(\w{2,4})
from: filename yyyy-mm-dd hhmmss.ext (.+)(\d{4})-(\d{2})-(\d{2}) (\d{6})\.\.(\w{2,4})

and so on.

thanks

Yes, you are right - folder based. I was a bit 'hoping' it would also handle files  ;)
And
Yes.. I agree, that has nót been the intention, from the start, so, this is by  no   means meant as criticism!
Don't get me wrong, okay?

I wonder, would you not be interested in 'evolving' ('expanding')  your tool to a complete attribute changer?
A kind of "File&Folder Attribute Changer" or something like that.

Just asking...

a) (mass) redate selected files created/modified/last accessed date according to the oldest date in the properties
b) (mass) redate selected files created/modified/last accessed date as per EXIF
c) (mass) redate selected files created/modified/last accessed from date from filenames
d) (mass) update selected files attributes

Up front: IF, rpt IF... item (a) is at all possible (I really don't know).

I have looked around and found many 'Attribute Changers', but none of them are really complete, meaning to say that
they can do all above and also update folder timestamp, which setfoldate can right now.

Anyway, it is just an idea.

Am using setfoldate (from within Opus) very often!

@mouser

Hi mouser

Q: Is this feature still under consideration?

Hope so... :)

245
@4wd - sorry for the late reply.
Q: where can I find the latest version of this tool?

2nd Q: would it be possible to update
Created/Modified/Last Accessed date of a file, in 1 step, based on the oldest date of the three.

Example
filexyz.jpg has a created date 01-06-2013
modified date: 01-07-2013
last accessed date: 01-07-2013

(dd-mm-yyyy)

Now, in 1 go, redate all to 01-06-2013

Clipboard Help+Spell / Suggestion: Updated Find and Replace
« on: October 08, 2013, 02:56 AM »
I am not sure if I brought this up already before.

Suggestion to add special characters in the "Find and Replace" panel.

Like this  - just an idea

=
Clipboard Help+Spell-Find and Replace-suggestion2-08102013 092454.png

=

I got to this because I wanted to replace tabs with spaces, but have forgotten about what (regex?) code I should use for tabs.

This idea provide users with a number of preset special characters (such cell-seperators  from Excel, but also:   >  <  #  |  =  and (Carriage return=hard return=line return)
as well as leading and trailing tabs and spaces and user defined characters.

Thanks
=
bump: hopefull this will be considered..

Oh - sorry for the confusion.
I guess what you are asking for may indeed be a bit difficult to implement.
Assume one of the things you are asking for may be covered  "Clip to OneNote" add-on?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: How to use My Notes?
« on: October 06, 2013, 05:02 AM »

Thanks!

Reason for asking was that (a bit in line with the context menu add-on post, earlier), I thought  there would be an option to select text from a website,
then use the context menu, select a (currently non existing!) option: Send to My Notes

Then I went on to search for the purpose and also wondered about the differences between the normal clipboard and My Notes   :)

Anyway, thanks again.

Clipboard Help+Spell / How to use My Notes?
« on: October 06, 2013, 12:58 AM »

Q: How to use "My Notes" ?
Q: What are the benefits of "My Notes" over a normal clipboard copy?

Meaning: when I select text, followed by ctrl-c, what may then be the difference between having it in the normal clipboard collection versus 'My Notes'?

I vainly tried to find a hint in the Help-file.

Thanks

Yes.. !

I very much support this idea. Actually this is something that I have been missing in CHS - but as I had another add-on in place, it wasn't high on my CHS-wishlist.

@ian: I guess you mean something like this??

=
Clipboard Help+Spell-Suggestion-Firefox add-on-06102013 070701.png
=

Note: I . .  have Clipboard Help+Spell stored entirely within a encrypted container (Bestcrypt), with a link to the desktop.
After booting my PC, I open the container and then -manually- launch whatever is needed.
The CHS database is located within the encrypted container, i.e. the contents of CHS is not visible when launching CHS whilst the cntr still 'closed' .
In the *rare* occassion that I launch FF befóre opening the container, I assume that then the add on is greyed out?
