Find And Run Robot / Re: Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Keyboard
« on: March 31, 2014, 09:56 PM »
I went with the backtick.  I avoided the function keys because this keyboard has a manual switch between the function keys and keyboard hot keys.  I think the idea was to come up with a keyboard that provides a transition to Windows 8, but it's kind of a mess (they also didn't include indicators to show "Num Lock" and "Caps Lock", if you can believe it).

I bought this model because it was on a great sale and I wanted the ergonomic profile.  I had a Microsoft ergonomic keyboard previously and I like the format much better than a standard (non-ergonomic) arrangement.  I don't type enough for the oddities to be an issue and, if they do bother me, I'll use my old keyboard and look for another ergonomic model.  I do, however, use FARR a lot so that was an issue I had to resolve.

Again, thanks for the quick response (and great program!).

Thanks!

Find And Run Robot / Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Keyboard

I've encountered a problem with the referenced keyboard.  For some strange reason it does not have a Break/Pause key.  I'm trying to figure out how to set FARR up to launch using some other key combination, but I'm not having any luck.  I'm fairly certain this is operator error, as I don't completely understand how to assign the keys.  I would appreciate any assistance.

Also, if anyone knows how to add a "Break/Pause" function to this keyboard, I would appreciate any advice as I'm sure the lack of this key(s) will cause problems down the road.

Thanks,

Wayne

Find And Run Robot / Re: Search Issue

That appears to be the issue.  Did the hotkey assignments happen to change any time recently?

As far as I can recall, I've always used Ctrl-Break and I only recently noticed that "Search" came up in the search box.

Thanks,

Find And Run Robot / Search Issue
« on: November 27, 2010, 09:18 AM »
When I bring up FARR the search box retains whatever I've most recently copied.  For example, if I type "now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their countrymen" in an application and then use right click to copy it for whatever reason FARR later pops up with "search now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their countrymen" in the search box.  I have two questions:

1.)  Why is the search box popping up with the word "search" in it?
2.)  Why is the search box picking up whatever I've copied previously?

I'm thinking that there is probably a shortcut for clearing the search box, but I haven't found it yet.  This is making the program unusable since I now have to manually clear the search box to enter my search term.

I was encountering this before I recently upgraded to the latest release so it's not likely related to the version.  I've tried checking the various options in the program and researching the forum but I haven't found this problem yet so I'm hoping someone will be able to provide some insight.

Thanks,

Wayne

General Software Discussion / Firefox Multitab Shortcut
« on: January 27, 2007, 11:40 AM »
Haven't been able to find this topic covered so I'm posting it as information.

A desktop shortcut to open multiple tabs in Firefox can be created using the "pipe" character to separate the different URLs of interest (e.g., http://www.cnn.com/|http:www.google.com/).

I can, of course, go to "Bookmarks" to launch a multitab entry but I have so many "Bookmarks" that I find it much quicker to use a shortcut to the one or two key multitab references that I use most often.

One issue I've encountered so far is that launching a second, multitab shortcut opens in the most recently opened browser window rather than a new window.  Firefox only opens one new tab for the first URL, however, and drops the other URLs.  It seems that the second shortcut should initiate a completely new instance.  If anyone knows why it doesn't work that way, please advise.

BTW, I haven't tried this with IE.

Site/Forum Features / Re: DonationCoder forum search plugin
« on: October 10, 2006, 03:45 PM »
Hi,

I've tried adding the plugin to Firefox and it appears to add it to a "Search" bar, but I can't locate it within Firefox.  Can you direct me to where the plugin should be showing up?

Thanks,

Wayne
