General Software Discussion / scrolling problem
« on: January 31, 2015, 09:43 PM »
I have a Logitech mouse, and after Seamonkey Portable's last update, I can no longer just press down on my mouse wheel and get smooth scrolling.
You know, where the little four-point compass icon appears and you move your cursor this way and that to scroll.
The arrow keys still scroll, and so does rolling the mouse wheel, which I set to one screen at a time.
And in Firefox, the little four-point smooth scrolling compass still appears and works when I press down on the mouse wheel.
But I can't seem to find any kind of fix for this in Seamonkey.

« on: January 25, 2015, 04:41 PM »
FWIW - A year or three ago (I forget), my mother was complaining to me about someone down the street who has an overgrown front yard. She described it as extremely overgrown. I told her to be thankful that they had that freedom. You can quite literally lose your home in some places for it.

My town has an 'eyesore' ordinance. Fortunately, they seem to have confined the actual enforcement of it to property that includes trash piles, signs of illegal dumping, or 'abandoned' (i.e. unrepairable, rusting and unregistered) motor vehicles. The ordinance provides for graduated fines - and in extreme cases - property seizure.

To date, the town has limited its focus primarily to undeveloped property and limited its enforcement to fines and consent decrees that required the owner clean up their property. However, the ordinance is so broadly worded that there's no reason why they would have to. I don't believe any property has been seized. To date anyway. But it would be interesting to see what would happen if somebody were to decide to start a honeybee and chicken farm on their front lawn. Or just do it up as a natural wooded lot...especially if !!!CHILDREN!!! were living on the same street.

 :-\
We used to have a bee hive in a dirt-paved alley I would use as a shortcut near our house.
I never bothered it, and it never bothered me.
Except I had the senseless habit of going barefoot sometimes and stepped on a bee once and got stung on the bottom of my foot.
My foot swelled for three days and itched insanely.
I know now, the treatment for that is to apply a bandage with a paste of baking soda and water, and keep it moist and fresh.

I want a mechanical tiger. :) Full size. Fake fur no problem.
There was once a short story possibly in a science fiction anthology about a guy who ordered a mechanical tiger, and used to take it for walks at night.
It's eyes would glow affectionately.
One day (jeez, I read this, like decades ago) I think he asked it to jump a puddle, and it got wet.
So then it began to malfunction over time, but it always acted like a big tame tabby cat with glowing eyes.

50 episodes.
Based on the true life story of Tenshōin, an influential and extraordinary Japanese princess who lived from 1836 to 1883.

Good site.  I've been watching some Asian movies etc. on YouTube and many emanate from there.
Yes, I can't get enough of them myself.

^drama queens, agreed.
Asian dramas, that's 'another story'. :)

Okay, about safe/unsafe download sites, what about sourceforge?

This is a true story that happened just yesterday evening.
I was sitting at the kitchen table with a nice wooden bowl made in Japan, that had some warm beef stew in it, and a wheat muffin.
I was wearing a favorite hooded gray sweater that is nice and warm in this mid-winter weather, with rather voluminous sleeves so that I have to lift my arms higher than usual to reach across to grab the salt or Italian seasoning.
I had just taken a bite out of my muffin which I had dipped in the stew sauce, when a suger cube-sized piece of the muffin fell and appeared to drop down past the outside of the bowl.
I looked here and there and everywhere; in the bowl, beside the bowl, beneath the overhang of the bowl, behind the bowl, on the floor, and it was nowhere.
I was quite certain I had not imagined it.
I was quite mystified as it had absolutely, totally vanished.
I finished my meal, and retired to the other room.
Sitting at my computer keyboard, I lifted my right hand to the mouse, and felt something squishy, wet, cold, and soft touching my right arm inside my sleeve.

Wow, Atari wasn't the only thing bulldozed.
After WWII the US Military laid thousands of katanas out on pavement and ran over them with bulldozers, and people are still trying to resurrect the tradition in the same way as with the Atari.

I used to hate tv commercials (still mostly do).
Then one day in the age of DVDs, I dragged out an old tv movie-grab on a VCR cassette that was complete with original commercials, and the nostalgia effect was so powerful watching outdated commercials from another era that I ended up enjoying the commercials as much as the movie.

BTW, I looked it up, and in Japanese, 'atari' means 'to hit the target' or 'to receive something fortuitously'.

That Atari console in the ^pic is actually quite stylish.

I want one!!!
No, wait; that's really outdated stuffs--
Hmm, but-- :-[ now I -really- want one!!!  :-*

General Software Discussion / Re: flashplayer fix - is this safe?
« on: January 18, 2015, 09:57 PM »
Wow, actually, the flashplayer for all my other browsers works okay, but not on this one browser, which is a separate, special use copy of Seamonkey Portable.
I'm really hesitant to uninstall flashplayer for the entire OS when it might just be a gliche in the one browser.
Maybe I'll just reinstall the browser.

Or actually, with flashplayer nonfunctional for the one special use browser, which isn't needed in that browser anyway, maybe it actually makes the browser safer from flash-based attacks.
Yeah, I know, 'sour grapes'; but maybe I don't need to fix it in the one browser after all.

There are so many PUPs lurking in the wild it isn't even funny.
DonationCoder is like a big comforting camp fire in the forest at night, with glowing pairs of evil eyes watching from all around in the outer darkness. o_O

Registry errors are often a leading cause of Flash Player problems. It is highly recommended that you scan your PC using PC Cleaner. It will fix problematic registry entries that can cause Flash Player to malfunction and will prevent new errors from occurring.

Automatically tells me it isn't.

Why don't you just uninstall and then reinstall Flash Player ?
How do I do that?
Do I have to uninstall/reinstall for the entire computer, or just the browser?
Yeah, the Comments there look like shills.

She'll come and sit beside me and reach out and touch my forearm with her forepaw to get me to brush her.
If I ignore her because I'm busy on the computer, she'll keep doing it.  ;D

General Software Discussion / Re: Seamonkey password problem
« on: January 18, 2015, 07:21 PM »
Seamonkey ran a new update after I posted this thread, and the next time I logged into the problem site, Seamonkey prompted me if I wanted to save the password, so the problem got fixed by a Seamonkey update.

General Software Discussion / Seamonkey password problem
« on: January 18, 2015, 02:16 PM »
My Seamonkey Portable stores and remembers passwords for various websites -including DC- with no problem.
It used to also do so for a fav website, but has stopped doing so, and never even asks me anymore if I want to store the password for the particular website.
I have to type in my email address and password every time now.
How can I fix this?

« on: January 16, 2015, 01:58 PM »
Does anyone know a good ad blocker of flash video ads on youtube, for seamonkey?
And a good safe source to download it from?
It's these video ads in a square box to the right of the actual videos.
How can I block them in seamonkey?
