Screenshot Captor / Latest version freezes in Scanner Options
« on: January 15, 2016, 09:56 AM »
Hi,

I just installed the latest version of SC (4.16.1). When I open the Screenshot Captor Options and click on Scanner Options under Tools, the dialogue window freezes for about 2 - 3 minutes before I can continue using it.

I'm using Windows 10 and have a number of scanner devices installed.
Once the window is unfrozen and I select a scanner driver and click on Apply, it freezes again.

Thank you Mouser,

I'll try these. Would be good if I could use screenshot captor to take screenshots of itself, that'd solve the problem.

The option to 'Copy selected region to clipboard as bitmap' is there already. Unfortunately I can't paste bitmaps into Lync...

Hi,

I use the 'To Clipboard: File' option on the New Screenshot window all the time.
However often I need to make some annotations to a screenshot and then quickly save a selected region of the screenshot to a file in the clipboard. If this is possible, how do I do this. I don't seem to be able to find the option in the Edit menu's Copy to Clipboard choices.
In other words I'm looking for the option: Copy currently selected *region* to clipboard (as file)

Thank you.

Screenshot Captor / Re: How to fix save directory?
« on: September 16, 2015, 09:35 AM »
Hello Mouser,

Thank you for your reply and the suggestions.

I prefer your second option, but would like to modify it a little:
Could you not just put a tick box close to the 'Screenshot folder' field in Options -> The Basics -> Saving and loading Files, that 'fixes' the folder for both saving and thumbnail view? I.e. when ticked, it will always use the specified folder to save images and display the folder's content in the thumbnail view, regardless of where an image is opened from.
Maybe it could be called something like 'Always save in this folder'. or 'Always use this folder'
If left unticked (default), SC could continue to function as it does now.

Hi lanux128,

Thanks for your reply.

I already have all these settings set, but as soon as I open a PNG that sits in a different directory, the Screenshot folder (Options -> The Basics -> Saving and loading Files) changes to that new folder and any subsequent screenshots I take get saved there.

I don't want the Screenshot folder to change.

Screenshot Captor / How to fix save directory?
« on: September 15, 2015, 09:36 PM »
Hi,

I've been using Screenshot Captor for a number of years and love the program; however, it has always bugged me that it keeps changing my save directory.

I have set all the directories in the My Favourites to point to my save dir. I would like any screenshot or image modifications saved to that folder.

Because SC is so good, I have set it as my default application for PNG files. The problem is that every time I open a PNG from somewhere else on my computer, Screenshot Captor changes the save directory to that location. - I don't want that. I just want it to open the image.

Then when I take a new screenshot, it doesn't go back to my save location, but stays and also saves to that location.
This is a problem because when I want to go back to a screenshot I took a few days (weeks) ago, I can't find it. It could be anywhere.

Is there a way to change SC to ensure it doesn't switch the save location and always saves to the same location?

Thanks.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Spelling error

Hi Mouser,

I found a few more spelling errors:
Override should be spelt with double 'r'.

effect should be affect and optons should be options on this popup window:

Cheers.

Hi Mouser,

I was just going through the settings when I came across a spelling mistake, see attachment.

Cheers.

Hi Mouser,

I installed the new beta and tested copying and pasting.

I copied from the main SC window using Ctrl-A and Ctrl-C, then I pasted into Word and IrfanView. I checked the results and the pasted images appear to be exactly as what was copied - nothing cropped and nothing added.  :)

Thank you for fixing this issue so quickly.

Thanks Mouser,

That's very fast service. I'm looking forward to the fix.

Hi Mouser,

In my Screenshot Captor window I have a screenshot of a popup which has a fine border around it. Whenever I select the image (Ctrl-A) and then paste it into another application such as Word, IrfanView or Gimp, the bottom and right lines are cropped. How do I prevent this?
Currently, to get around this, I expand the canvas, but that is a bit tedious.

Using Version 4.10.0

Thank you.
