I use rewriteable medias sometimes for some backupjobs - but I use DVD-RAM and not DVD+/-RW. I never had any problem with DVD-RAM Media, but due to the higher costs (5 RAMs about 30 Euro) I consider buying (another) external HDD...

Hi,

just wanna know your favourite Windows Shell Enhancements. Windows Shell Enhancement are tools which integrate directly in the Windows Explorer. I have only running 3 on my machine but I find them tremendously useful.

1) PixVue (http://www.pixvue.com/) - let you add and edit EXIF and ITPC Data directly through the Explorer. After the Installation the Explorer is capable to read such metadata and displays it in the "details" view - so you can sort images by their keyword for example. PixVue offers even more functions such as "Galleries" and Slideshows...

2) FirmTools ShellExtension (http://free.firmtool....com/shellextension/) for displaying image previews in the contextmenu (usefull when you have dozens of images laying around on your desktop)

3) NTTools - offering "CopyFilename" and "Open Comandline here" functions - very very handy :)

I think there are a lot of other Extensions out there - which do you know, and / or use?

Hi,

have you considered to do C++ with the .net Framework (=Visual C++ 7)? Windowsforms can be very powerfull and nice to use. You also get the benefit of the "managed code" aproach. If you don't going to use .Net you should definitely give Qt (http://www.trolltech.com) a try :)

There are a lot more engines out there - German C't magazin had an overview article a few month ago - if I'm at home I could search it - if someone is interested...

Hi,

last weekend I wrote about 45 pages documentation on a Typo3 project with tons of screenshots. It took me the whole Saturday and Sunday. It has taken only 1 - 2 hours, if I had the chance to record me steps through the Interface. Earlier this week I found a free version of Camista Screen Recorder (an old version) which doesn't meet me requires. I surfed around the web and found TurboDemo which looks great, but costs a gigantic amount of money ;). So the question is: Do you know any Screenrecorder with a reasonable price, which produces interactive Flash Movies and allowes me to annotate the Clicks?

You can rightclick on the Keyboard (on an empty spot) to change the reaction time. But I found no way to change the [win] key to something else...

43MB? Hmmm... at my PC it uses "only" 19 MB ram (with a lot of Shortcuts assigned). I personally don't mind the 20 MB, as I upgraded my machine to 2GB RAM recently ;D

You don't have to hold down windowskey for 5 seconds in your daily work. This must be only done for configurations or if you forgot your shortcuts . If you know your shortcuts you can use them like any other Windows-Shortcut :) If I have to hold the Key for 5 seconds everytime I use it, I wouldnt  call it Shortcut ;)

Sure - it's based on the same component (Scintilla) - it is a very cool Editor, but I like Scite better - cant say why - it's a feeling ;)

Hi,

today (30 min ago) I found a really cool Hotkey Tool. Check out http://www.qliner.com/hotkeys/ ( http://qlinerhotkeys.sourceforge.net/ )

I love the concept of assigning Hotkeys to the [win]+X Button. Holding [win] for 5 Seconds will bring up a Software Keyboard with all assigned Shotcuts. I instantly fell in love with this feature :-). I'm going to write (at least a mini) Review when I gained more "hands-on" experience with the tool... The coolest thing since Screenshot Captor  :-*

Hi Mouser,

what do you think of adding some commandline options to SC? It would be nice to capture sreenshots via a batch file. Nothing to complicated - just something like

[Select]
ScreenshotCaptor.exe -f"screenshot1.jpg"

for taking and saving the screenshot. I think this should be really easy to implement and would be very usefull. I think of building an application like "Browsershots (http://browsershots.org)" on a remote Win98 system...

I use the following extensions:


  • del.icio.us 0.5.9 - del.icio.us is a social bookmarks manager. It allows you to easily add sites you like to your personal collection of links, to categorize those sites with keywords, and to share your collection not only between your own browsers and machines, but also with others.
  • FlashGot 0.5.9.97 - Enables Firefox, Mozilla Suite, Netscape and Thunderbird to handle single and massive ("all" and "selection") downloads using the most popular external download managers for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and FreeBSD (dozens currently supported, see Extension's Home Page for details). Geasemonkey is still missing support for 1.5 beta2 :(

If you dont want to burn the images, you can simply use DaemonTools (http://www.daemon-tools.cc) to mount the *.img - Images as "virtual CD Drives".  The installation will run from this virtual drive without problems :)
