Please add options for url shortcuts like: use site title. for that internet functions would have to be used. only the area before <body> has to be loaded.

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Systray
« on: August 13, 2012, 03:11 PM »
Can you elaborate what you had in mind?
a toolbar with all systray icons, including the ones set to invisible.
my taskbars (already using actual windows manager) simply have not enough space to have the systray show all items all the time.
so my idea is to have a toolbar with all of them. what i found out so far is that it seems to be a problem to retreive info about the hidden items.

i think about using a key combination similar to alt-tab to bring up a toolbar/window with all systray items, also aware of the click options each item has.
when those even can be overwritten, then i am really happy.

i use quickmacros as tool also for scripting my windows -> http://www.quickmacr...;p=23585&e=23585
and also made a request in the actual tools forum -> http://www.actualtoo...MID=9885#message9885
and asked in the german c# ms forum -> http://social.msdn.m...12-8d75-de44e2d9ea27

Mouser, can you code systray?
it would be nice to have a custom systray, independent from the official one.

i can see why that might be a nice feature.. i'll have to think about how easy it would be to do.

I'm not sure I understand.  I can drag a file from my file manager onto my Photoshop icon, and it will open the file in Photoshop.  I have a stack of program icons on the right edge of my left-hand monitor for just that purpose.  I think that's the opposite direction from what you're asking (drag the file onto the program, instead of drag the program onto the file) but is that significant?
there are two cases where dragging a node make sense.
hence you have a dock with bookmarks only and you have multiple accounts on the interweb. then it would come in quite handy to simply drag a bookmark node on the related browser window. while developing i very often have to check the same link in different browsers.
so instead of maintaining the same bookmarks in all browsers i would simply drag the bookmark from my central bookmark dock.

second case: working with lots of graphics or other often used documents.
some screenshot programs and programming tools have the functionality for dragging a finder on a target for further processing.

It would be nice when you would add options for the systray.
I would like to have on left click the menu with all capture options, or maybe even own settings.
On single left click open custom menu and double the editor.

Great to see you making use of the new sendkeys function in LBC! Makes me happy I added it.

I will still check into the problem when launching the commandline version via LBC and it losing focus.  What I suspect is that LBC is trying to change focus to the newly launched program, but since it exists after triggering the existing running FARR, you get the result of no window having focus.

i really enjoy your fast support!
so you are closing the running instance of farr when -show is involved? why that? - misread  8)

One request, could you make the special key instructions textarea autosize?

And how to i make a button to open the LBC config dialog? I tried by using -config as argument, but that seems to open and close the dialog.

i assigned as global hotkey ^{NUMPAD*} (control *) and now use a sendkey button with ^{NUMPAD*}  :)

i assigned hotkey ^{F12} in farr for showing, so when using the new sendkey feature in LBC, then it is working as expected.

the latter, happens only when launching from LBC.

That possibly is very simple, how to open farr (already started with windows) from a button and have it focused for text input?
Currently i do simply start farr with -show, but i always have to click on farr first in order to type in my search query.

And how to i make a button to open the LBC config dialog? I tried by using -config as argument, but that seems to open and close the dialog.
Thanks.

LaunchBar Commander / Drag files from menu / dock
« on: April 11, 2012, 03:33 PM »
Another bummer would be to have the possibility to drag items from a dock menu or even from a node.

What i miss while working is to have a central visible place from where i can drag my links and files to various browsers/programs.

And also the possibility to drag a program (node) into workspace for starting some work.
Example: hence a notepad++ node. When i drag it from dock onto the current page in browser it will gather for source code.
Or dragging photoshop node on a file in windows explorer/other file manager will select it on mouse release (i know thats a big one).

i like that idea, it is a little bit like taskbar functionality. when there would be a hook which is checking for running programs and main windows, then dock could display alternative icon, which one has to specify.
the running specificator could be other background or a rectangle or custom icon.

LaunchBar Commander / Dropped Files
« on: April 11, 2012, 03:06 PM »
I don't know if it is a bug or not, but it seems setting one node to accept one file is setting all other nodes to the same setting.
I added dreamweaver and other adobe programs to my dock and currently all are set to don't accept files.
But dropping a .txt is opening dreamweaver and for testing also premiere.
I see that i can set filters, but they are useless when dropping is set to not allow, but do so.

[edit] for me it is a bug.

LaunchBar Commander / LaunchBar Commander issue with RDP monitors
« on: April 07, 2012, 03:38 PM »
But it sounds like with RDP its more like creating a new desktop, with only one monitor?

seems so, i guess Enumeration and Display Control (Windows) can be used.
just run a timer which does check how many monitors are available?

Or if this is an issue others have, we could try to figure out a solution that moves the dock in some smart ways -- i'm open to hearing proposals for that..

I use Actual Window Manager, it does detect how many screens are used. when sitting on my workstation with two screens i have an extra title bar button for moving a window to another screen. When connecting with rdp those button is gone.
I think you could add an option for docks how to behave when there is no screen to display on.
  • Find next logical place
  • Manual Setting
  • Show floating
  • Do nothing

I do automate my system with Quick Macros since nearly 10 years, meaning that i at least help you with solutions i made there.

Let me ask a related question, my web dock is now docked on left side of my second monitor, what will happen when
i connect with remote desktop using only the first monitor? can my web dock then show up on right side?
can't test this right now because of doing some coding myself.  8)

LaunchBar Commander / Drop links from browser
« on: April 05, 2012, 01:07 PM »
I just made me a dock with all browsers i do use, but it seems that i can't drop a link from firefox onto the iron(chrome) icon.
I enabled dropping, but that seems not to work.
Do i make something wrong? When not then i make my first feature request.

Thanks!

LaunchBar Commander / Website Dock
« on: April 05, 2012, 12:54 PM »
Greetings, this is my first posting and i must say that i am very impressed about the LaunchBar Commander.
And i also like that donationcoder is using SMF as forum system.

My first question is what is the best way to create a dock with weblinks only.
I tried dropping bookmarks directly from my firefox bookmark sidebar, but that does not work.
Then i tried with dropping .url files from IE favorites, that produced 'Error building tree message'.
Do i have to add all my links by hand or is there a simple drag'n'drop solution?

Thanks!
