Much appreciated skwire.

I'm trying to add a context entry to a selected folder which will open a program's GUI.
The program is a standalone named FolderTimeUpdate (NirSoft), 120 KB.

It's easy enough via the Registry HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\Folder Time\command
 and
F:\\Portable\\FolderTimeUpdate+\\FolderTimeUpdate.exe \"%1\"
It works but that gets me nowhere because the actual folder path is not selected. I must still drag & drop the folder onto the opened GUI.

Is this an impossible action or should I change the command key?
Any tips most welcome.

W7 64-bit unique and very freaky, anything written for XP and/or Vista 64-bit no guarantee it will run under W7 64-bit. As I'm a context maniac I'm forever evaluating any such applications and most of the time it fails. The list is veeeery long. Sad to say but most programmers since XP days gave up and their hard work changed to shelfware. Iconoid such an example but Highrez managed to convert it successfully to W7 64-bit.
I did nothing special to enable Files 2 Folder to run so neatly although I've disabled UAC (permanently) and I've set all/everything to classic mode. With other words any available W7 "cute" options tweaked out completely. My desktop seldom with less than 200 icons, etc but since Files 2 Folder it improved. Using a dual monitor setup (21" & 25.5") it can become very busy.
I am running as admin but my security sector loaded above normal. To play with context options very risky because they have impact on each other and can really mess around within the registry.
Wish I could be of more assistance but at this stage I'm very thankful that Files 2 Folder such a breakthrough.

I retract all I've said, it is a small masterpiece!
Another prog that is 100% W7 64-bit compatible, running fine in all aspects.
Must have been finger trouble on my side.

mateek, re 64-bit -  I pushed my luck and although it installed as advised I receive a pop-up "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel".
This happens with any file/s selected.
I love the concept but it seems that 64-bit again losing out. Ever since upgrading to W7 Pro 64-bit any context prog a challenge. The program writers will most probably know the reasons.

Thanks lanux128 for your patience and efforts but it must be my fault. I use an old 98SE puter to test progs and could not find anything to the contrary on the d/l page.
I also scanned the AutoHotkey site (Changes and New Features) to double check if there is an indication that 98 excluded but found nothing there either.
Only after yr second response I tried Accents on my XP puter and now all fine.

Thanks lanux128, happy to see someone else using it. How do you now apply it when typing?
I have to use ê very often, daily, but still using alt234.

I must have lost my mind because I just cannot figure this - Press a key three or more times to apply accents.
Applying that rule I will obtain three or more of the same letter, logic. There is a hidden clue - This program was made using AutoHotkey.
The ini file I can understand but how do I add a hotkey?
Where am I going off the rails?

Thanks f0dder for yr info, much appreciated. I'll search around for a prog with which I can do a faster soft reboot. It is not a solution but...

Sad but true, nothing being returned. I actually kept working and also opened/closed IE, OE and XnView in between.
Figures now read 43/43/47 after deleting cached files.

I this minute opened SC and it is 14/14/28 and after closing SC it is 42/42/45.
Going down, time for a reboot. I suppose that that is 98 and I have to live with it if I want to keep 98 on this puter :-)

Sorry folk for that bit of off topic question. What makes my problem worse is that I need to start and close SC repeatedly. I'm writing a whole series of mht help files for a friend on how to master SC. Due to my resource hassle I close SC before I open KeyNote again.
It is strange when you use a prog, such as SC, you just click and click and you have you screenshot with arrows, borders, shadows, etc. All without thinking. When you need to explain each step with applicable screenshots, without omitting one single click or variation of an option it is a horse of a dif colour.

Mouser, I started googling around with resource and 98 words and it is disgusting (re f0dder), I also need to make a 'happiest day'.
I used the resource meter of Windows and and it seems as if SC not involved. i.e. with my little knowledge of the subject.
The figures below are System resources / User resources / GDI resources:
At startup it is 47/47/77
Opening SC - 23/23/57
After closing SC - 47/47/74
Opening KeyNote - 38/38/67
After closing KeyNote - 47/47/72
I cannot run both at the same time.

I'm trying to use/test SC under extreme conditions and therefore I have a resource problem. Older technology - W98SE, low RAM - 256MB, too many installed progs and fonts and a heavy load of start-up progs/dll's (x219 processes - re Autoruns v8.4.2). I do not have any games, PnP or Norton installed. Rather amazing that my puter still running. Normal defragging done regularly.

My problem is that I can (hot) start SC, make a capture or three but once closed completely it is not long before all becomes so sluggish that I have to reboot to restore my resources. This only happens with SC because I also use Photoshop and that is notorious for resource hogging.
I've done a Registry hack with 'AlwaysUnloadDll' but that had no effect on SC.
Any tips?

Thank you mouser, no it is not critical. It now makes sense to me why the bottom capture/icon is always selected by default when I start SC.

In W98SE the last capture is placed on top in the thumbnail view. My friend in the USA is running XP and his last capture is added to the bottom in the column. Is this part of a Window OS setting?

Thank you mouser, now I have the answer but to get to the solution may just be a little too high tech. Murphy's Law in total command.

As for remote help - I suppose you do require telepathy or should it be parapsychology to keep everybody happy all of the time, you're spot on. That would have been the perfect solution. I've been surfing heavy lately for such facilities and found SkyFex but still worried about all the security risks.
By now I'm completely OT but at least I know where to go...

I need help for someone that is 18000km from here and he is using XP Home, a bit of a tall order. As I’m on 98SE, and without problems, it is rather difficult to assist him. I’m trying to get him to use SC and sending him bit by bit pics of the Preferences, ie still in the setup stage. I’ve been writing mht instruction manuals to help him but it is heavy.
That is already extremely difficult as he is on AOL, and my IP does not allow any emails to be sent to AOL. Another story. He is 80+yrs old and to crown it all Wilma is around the corner.
His first report is that after he’s done some selections, upon reloading SC all the settings revert back to the original defaults. This must be XP or Administrator issue? Am I on the right track?

FIXED!!!
Either you know what you're doing OR you know what you're doing or both.
This is going down as the fastestest... response to a enquiry in my books and suspect in the history of customer care.
I'm at a loss for words, apart from - thank you!

Now I'm lost. I've been trying SC for a while and struggled a bit with the dif options/settings, mostly via trial and error. Now I was pretty brave and installed the latest version (2.00.14). I use the 'selected region' 99% of the time and given it a hotkey. But now all my screen selections and captures are blank. When using my hotkey SC opens to a perfect white screen with a thin black frame and I'm not able to select a region, It covers my monitor completely.
I'm running on 98SE and the previous version I used, 2.00.11, functioned very neatly. What am I doing wrong?
