General Software Discussion / Re: Browser racism???
« on: June 09, 2006, 04:49 AM »
actually Firefox and IE (and clones) are ok, when i tried Opera i got Access denied, but as soon as i change the UserAgent (via Proxo) in Opera to Firefox or IE, Opera could download fine.

252
haha, why    :D

FF is a great browser.

253
oh my, i just tried download with Maxthon and i got that message:
Access denied.

Please go to http://www.windowsvi...com/getready/preview

 :( :( :(

254
hmm, interesting, i am not from the US and also not register at fileforum.com, could it be the browser we use? ;D
i have firefox.

255
Not quite... Loads of work to download the OS! the "download now" link takes you to microsoft's ultra-bloated site where you never can find anything. Then you have to look for the download link, register a "live id" if you don't have one, and then, finally, download it.
Then, you just have to wait for the 3.2 gb download to end ;)
hmm, this is odd, it takes only 2 clicks for me, click the link and then click download now:

it is quite simple, just 2 clicks:
1)http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Microsoft_Windows_Vista_English_32bit/1149728719/1

2)download now.

I have this on autohide so it's not like this is sticking out like that during normal use. It should only be seen when I make it pop out by hitting the right side of my screen with my mouse. It gives me more screen space to work with when it's hidden.

hmm it sounds handy and it's quite a good idea.  :)

the registry key that handle the flash is:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"ForegroundFlashCount"=dword:00000003

have you tried set it to zero or a value to would confuse windows or delete  it see what happens.

your taskbar is huge, would you like to consider using Free Launch Bar or TrueLaunchBar so that you can put all the frequently access applications in a folder, like this:

260
shellMenuView cant do the "new ..." list.
i think the OP manually search the registry for "ShellNew" and delete.

261
try RegShot

my fav, very small and fast.

263
yea, backup everything in HKCR is overkill.

i found this, it can save the setting but not freeware.

Living Room / Re: Is firewire better than USB?
« on: June 03, 2006, 06:04 PM »
FireWire vs. USB 2.0

Question: Which is faster Hi-Speed USB 2.0 or FireWire?
Answer: In sustained throughput FireWire is faster than USB 2.0.

Question: If Hi-Speed USB 2.0 is a 480 Mbps interface and FireWire is a 400 Mbps interface, how can FireWire be faster?
Answer: Differences in the architecture of the two interfaces have a huge impact on the sustained throughput.

265
for file/program/icon associations, i simply backup everthing under:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

13MB.

for a specific file type, you can refer to this:
Windows® XP File Association Fixes
