General Software Discussion / Re: Mailbird
« on: December 23, 2014, 08:01 PM »
I've used it (alongside eM Client) since March this year (bought a lifetime license), and as a mail client I really like it. It's simple, fast, looks good and keeps getting updated. It's simplicity is a strength, but also a weakness depending on your needs. If all you need is a mail client it does the job, and does it very well. If you need more advanced features, or stuff such as a fully integrated calendar then you should probably look elsewhere. The same applies if you're using it with a lot of different mail accounts. It handles them well enough, but the lack of a unified inbox (for now, it is coming at some point) is somewhat annoying.

Living Room / Re: which phone?

I own/have owned several Windows Phones (920, 930, 1520), and overall I really, really like the OS and hardware. The problem is as mentioned a lack of apps and reduced/missing features in apps compared to other platforms. You'll also miss out on several features (such as Cortana) if you're living in the "wrong" country. Due to this I'm currently using a combo of the iPhone 6+ and the HTC One m8 (flashed to a Google Edition, now on Android 5.0) as my daily drivers, but the instant WP starts getting treated as a first-class citizen I'm switching back.

iOS has the apps, but the OS itself doesn't really do it for me. Android has almost the same selection of apps (and some that isn't on iOS), and you can customize pretty much everything. I like that, but the OS doesn't feel as "smooth" as WP, and the camera no matter what Android phone I've used leaves something to be desired.

Edit: I should probably add that despite the lack of apps, WP has some gems in the store. Tweetium is probably my favorite Twitter client on any mobile platform, Nextgen Reader is a great rss reader, Poki is a lovely Pocket client, Readit is a beautiful reddit client, Nokia's Here suite of apps are amazing (offline navigation and maps, for "free"!) and the same can mostly be said for many of Microsoft's previously Bing-prefixed apps, and the Lumia camera app is a joy to use when you want to do more advanced shots.

General Software Discussion / Re: Text editor with filtering of lines
« on: November 06, 2014, 02:32 PM »
If you're a Sublime Text user, you can do what you're asking for with the Filter Lines plugin. You can filter or fold using strings or a RegEx. Use the fold function if you want to show the lines containing your search term in the currently open document.

Highasakite - Leaving no traces:
- A great song, about a heavy subject. Live version.

Mew - Symmetry:
- After all these years, this song is still as mesmerizing as when I first heard it (YouTube is being a d**k, so you'll have to watch this one on youtube.com).

Eels - Things the Grandchildren Should Know
- Very few artists write songs that have the same impact as a good Eels song do. Live version.

Noisettes - Never forget you
- It's a few years old by now, but it's still insanely catchy. This is an acoustic version.

Having just purchased by very first drawing pad (Wacom Intuos Pro M), I've been playing around with different software to use with it. It's been years since I've done any drawing, but I missed it (I also needed something to let me do photo editing without the constraints of a mouse) so I figured I'd see how it works in digital. So far I've tested Painter, Sketchpad Pro & Photoshop but after reading your post I gave Clip Studio a try. Turns out this is actually really great, so I purchased a license for the Pro version. Missed out on the sale, but 50$ still is a good price. Need to use it some more to see if it's for me, but the posing tools really sold me on it. I'd love to get my hands on at least the posing doll, but having hunted around ebay for quite some time it would appear to be impossible to find :(
