Make sure you have the popup menu enabled on the settings dialog. Then when you double click on an archive, you will get a menu and at the bottom should be Extract and run.

I have an update to FastUnzip Snack. I added a menu item called "Extract and Run". This will extract the archive and list all the EXE files in the archive and you can then run it. After the program is closed the temp folder is removed.

You can download from my website as it is easier then updating the posts. I'll attached it here also, but if there are any future updates please see the website.

I use a very great app called WebResearch Pro 3. I think that it would work for what you are asking. http://www.macropool.com/en/products/webresearch/index.html

Yeah, that does the same on my system. I have other apps that do that as well. WinRAR and 7-Zip both do that. I'll try to see if I can add a refresh to the folder after extraction. I'll get to this tomorrow.

Also, on a side note, if I am using an app like this in a folder that is inside a Dropbox folder that happens as well. But in another folder it shows fine.

This was a request by TaoPhoenix.

FastUnzip Snack is an fast un-archiving application.

After install you will get a settings dialog (see attached image) that will allow you to:
  • Set the file associations (supported file types are ZIP, RAR, 7z, TAR, CAB)
  • Set an Open With application to open archives (used when FastUnzip Snack is disabled or popup menu is used)
  • Disable FastUnzip Snack (must have an Open With application set)
  • Use a popup menu before extraction (see attached image)

You can also open the settings from Start > FastUnzip Snack > FastUnzip Snack Settings

Update:
  • Added sub menus in popup menu to allow delete and move w/o having to set in the settings dialog

Finished the update:

This turned out to be a really sweet app IMO.

Download from my original post as well as screen shots. I'm also going to put this under Announce Your Software.

As far as the programming language? I use Visual Dialogscript and I already had made something similar to what you were asking for personal use. It extracted a ZIP file to a temp dir then displayed all the executable files and allowed me to choose one to run. I just took that code and changed it up a bit to make this.

Here is the app. FastUnzip Snack. There is no settings dialog or anything. Just install and it will associate to ZIP files (may add more by request). Then just double click on a ZIP file and it will extract to the current folder as a sub-folder of the ZIP file name. So if you have a Zip file called MyZip.zip, it will extract to a folder called MyZip. Once extracted, the folder is opened.

For now that is all it does, but I may add other features.
Maybe adding a settings box that gives an option to show a popup menu when double clicking a ZIP to Extract Here or Extract to sub-folder.

Any other ideas?

[EDIT]

Updated to add comments from TaoPhoenix

Looking at SkyDrive, I see a public folder, but cannot use it as a website. I use my public DropBox folder as my website. Just edit, and changes are uploaded. I like the 25GB of SkyDrive though, and with GDrive coming out not sure which one I'll go with.  :-\

Announce Your Software/Service/Product / Short Run 4
« on: April 19, 2012, 07:58 PM »
This is an app that I have been using since I made it for Window XP. I know there are apps like Launchy and Rocket Dock, but Windows (IMHO) has a very nice app launcher built in (besides the start menu), the Run dialog. Short Run allows you to create shortcuts to applications and run them using the Run dialog. It is portable (but you can add it to the Send To menu.) and very easy to use. Just run the ShortRun4.exe file and choose Shortcuts > Add Shortcut or drag and drop a file or folder (dropping a folder will add a shortcut to that folder). Read the Help.txt file for more info. This is for Windows XP or higher.

720
Sorry about that, should be fixed now. :-[ Download again from above.

721
@skwire: Thanks   :)

I can add command line support for a CSV file if needed as well.

722
It's called Visual Dialogscript. Unfortunately it is no longer in development.  :( >:(
I have been using it for over 15 years.

723
Ok. I updated Link Snack. Now pressing enter in any text box will create the link. Re-download from above.

724
Sure. I'll update in a few

Yes, it shows first then moves to the mouse cursor. Only way I could get it to work.

Not sure if Classic Shell would interfere with it, I have never used it before. I don't think so though.
