@v126.96.36.199 - Thursday, May 31, 2012 [FEATURE] Added List and icon view. List view loads icons much fast on slower systems. [FEATURE] Options to change the location of the Custom Icons folder from the default.
I only have it display the chosen (current) icon for that folder on purpose. 1) If the icon is an ICO file, then it is copied to the folder hidden and renamed so the folder can be "portable". The icon should show on other systems if it is on an external drive/usb stick. If it is an icon resource (DLL, ICL, or EXE) it will load the icons from that file and show the current one. 2) If it is an ICO and selected from a folder if icons, I didn't want it to have to load the whole folder again. 3) was a lot easier to do it this way as there is a bug that I am still unable to fix. It just crashes CMF when it loads... not sure why.
Not sure about the double-click, but what I am doing is allowing 2 views. The original icon view then a small icon view that just shows a small 16x16 icon. The icons load much faster in this view. I'll post a screenshot a little later.
Hmmm, well I think I may have to pass this off to someone else. The programming language i use is not powerful enough to be able to grab info from a page or make a thumbnail of a flash video. That is why I has said about the screen cap. Sorry, just a little more that I can do.
1) In the beginning, does that folder open on it's own after closing CMF? 2) In shell23.dll there are some blank icons, that is the way MS made it. Not sure why, but that has been that way for a while. It's even that way in Windows 7. 3) Sometimes the icon doesn't change right away, not much I can do about that. It will show that is has been changed on CMF though right away. If you log off and back on it (or reboot) should be changed. 4) I see that it is going a little slow on your system. I don't think I can do anything about that either, but I'll see if I can speed it up. Getting and loading the icons can be slow.
@v188.8.131.52 - Monday, May 28, 2012 [FEATURE] Made it so any supported icon resources or folders of icon files (*.ico) that are stored in the Color My Folder in the users My Documents folder are listed in a Custom Icons menu (registered version only) [FEATURE] You can now hide the icon labels.
I think the best that I can do, is make it so the web address can be drag/drop onto a fields that will then show the web page in a window. Then the user would have to make a screen shot of a section of the web page for the thumbnail. Then I would associate the web address with the thumbnail. Clicking on the thumbnail would then open the web page in the default browser.
No Prob. I get frustrated with software that doesn't act the way I want either... so I write my own! If you have tried/use it, hope ya like it. I have some other apps on my site also if you are interested.
Also, I tried to reply a comment on dottech, (the one from Swim) explaining that no registration is used/needed and can just be downloaded and use either here or my site, but it is not posting. Any idea why?
Ok, I think I fixed the bug. Please re-download or check for update. Let me know, thanks!
@kunkel321 1) I'll see what I can do about the icon labels. 2) I may be able to do that 3) It is a real pain to get the icons to position properly after the dialog is resized. I alreay tried adding that in the beginning with no luck. I may revisit that at a later time. 4) I may be able to add a custom icon menu that will do that. I'll add that to my list.
It depends on how the ZIP file is made. If the ZIP file has a folder in it, that is how it is extracted. That is the way my app works (unless you tell it to extract to a sub folder). I use the command line verson of 7-zip for my app, so if it is making a sub folder if you are not asking it to do so, then there is a folder in the ZIP file.
You asked for it! New update, now supports listing ICO files in a folder (registered version only). You can do a Check for Update or download from the website. Read the help.pdf file for more information.
@v184.108.40.206 - Sunday, May 27, 2012 [FEATURE] Added Folder support. You can now select a folder that contains icons (Only ICO files are listed). [REMOVED] Removed the tooltip from icons as they do not follow the icons when scrolling. [REMOVED] No longer need to use <BR> to sep lines for icon labels.
@tomos - That's ok. I needed to support XP anyway.
@kunkel321 - Great, glad you like it. I'll look to see if I can list a folder of icons. Can you send me a copy of that DLL? My email address is in the help file or you can use the mail icon under my DC avatar. That may be the problem, I might have to set a limit of how many icons can be loaded. I didn't test with huge icon resources.
I added support for Windows XP now (v220.127.116.11). I figured it out. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you. You can download from http://starpunch.net or Check For Update if you already have a version installed.
I released the version 18.104.22.168 of Color My Folder. If you have the older menu version, you can go to your start menu, Programs, Color My Folder and Check for update. If you have the latest "beta" with the new dialog interface, go to Help > Check For Update, or you can download the new setup from the website http://starpunch.net
It is now shareware. The only difference is that to use your own icons or icon resources (EXE, DLL, ICL) you need to register. Normal registration is $15, but for members of DonationCoder.com you can register for $10 by clicking this link (PayPal) https://www.paypal.c...ton_id=MUKFWW5JP77YU
