Hi Mouser,

Parametrics are good for this kind of task.

Here is a free parametric program which is quite simple to use:

Hi Mouser,

Would it be possible to tweak the JPG compression scale? I'm getting visible artifacting on any setting greater than minimum, so that's where I leave it. It would be great if you could, somehow, "spread" the minimum end of the scale and "compact" the maximum end. What would be ideal, for me, would be to have a non-discrete scale.

Kind regards,

Miles

Well, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this program :)

Just realised I haven't updated it for a few weeks, and am missing out on some useful stuff ;D

Thanks Mouser.

Regards to all,

Miles

Meant to pass this on ages ago....
http://www.wisdom-so...eenrecorder_free.htm

I haven't tried it (I have BBFlashback), but it seems to be a proper "continuous" recorder (not an "episodic" one, like Wink).

Yes, it's a fascinating tale. Also published by Pelican as "The Surgeon of Crowthorne".

Best Dialog Extender / Re: Horizontal scrolling
« on: December 01, 2005, 08:15 AM »
Thanks, Mouser & Nutty,

It's not a resolution thing (1600x1200 on 20").

I think, if I could just drag all boxes down to their maximum length (vertically) and if they would stick at this setting, that would be a start. If they would also scroll vertically that would be great.

For some reason, I have problems when things 'jump' when scrolling, especially horizontally. I have to set Acrobat Reader to scroll smoothly for the same reason.

Thanks Mouser,

I'll investigate further.

If not, maybe one of the developers would consider it as an enhancement.

Thanks for the review, Mouser. These are new to me.

I loathe the horizontal scrolling in the standard Open dialog box. Will one of these help get rid of it?

Thanks,

Miles

Hehe.. Pretty crude though.....

It would be interesting to try the same idea, but with completely synthetic implementation. Combine speech synthesiser with an algorithm for creating a certain style of song.....

Thanks a lot for this, Mouser  :)

Here you go: http://www.christoph...jects/britain_03.htm

The ones I posted, I took myself. If there's a particular view that you want I'll get the camera out.

When were you here? The area has changed a lot recently. Did you know that the University has taken over most of the Old Royal Naval College now?

I was born in Oxford.... long time ago :)

Now I live in Greenwich (SE London).

Here are are a couple of local views. The first is towards the centre of London, from the hill which my house is on. The second is the classic view from the 'Observatory' in Greenwich Park.

It's very useful to know that, thanks.

I had a quick look at the autohotkey and Autoit sites - they both look amazing.

I'll download and play once I've done a days work :)

Thanks

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm using keystroke macros to 'drive' kinematics in my MCAD program, but I'm looking for ways to make this work faster and also to have better control. At the moment I use the macro recording in my Belkin N52 Speedpad.

I'd also like to start playing with scripting languages.

So, to answer your question, Mouser - both, but not necessarily in the same program...

Thanks, all.

Hehe..

Stefan,

At        the       moment      I        use       the        keystroke       recording         facility         in         my        Belkin        Speedpad  :)

It will play the macro with about 10 milliseconds between events. At this rate the commands 'pile up' in Windows  (a backlog develops, so things don't run in 'real time'). I would like to know if there is a 'bottleneck' caused by a keyboard setting in the registry, or something... 10 milliseconds isn't all that fast  :)

Thanks, Stefan.

One thing that is important for me is speed of execution, so any suggestions on how to avoid 'pile ups' in windows would also be welcome  :)

Just started investigating these. Any advice would be appreciated.

The two I'm considering at the moment are: Macro Express, and Workspace Macro Pro (Automation Edition).

Any thoughts on these?

Any others I should look at?

Thanks

Miles

This is the sort of thing- http://www.3dconnexi...n.com/spacepilot.htm -  except they spoilt it by not having a more direct relationship between the display and the macro keys....  :(

Miles

Yeah... We've all dreamed about that one  :)   Same historic keyboard layout, though  :(

What would be possible now, but I haven't seen it, is a small LCD screen with a representation of the keyboard layout of a macro keyboard with updating command mapping on the "keys".

OK Mouser, there's your next project... :)
