Screenshot Captor / Re: Thumbnails don't show embedded objects

That's not going to help if the OS is causing the issue...

You probably have to clean up the thumbnail cache of Windows 7, a known culprit
Many thanks to Ath. That one did actually work, at least for now. Will try to remember for future use.

Thanks for your answers.
Restarting and rebooting is of course is what I tried in the first place, although to no avail.avail. My operating system is Win7 home premium with latest updates.
SC version is 4.29.0 which should be the newest.
There are currently about 50 screenshots in the folder, five of them with objects.
As mentioned before that very same problem occurred in my previous project. After switching to that project the thumbnails showed the objects as usual. But the new project does not. I even tried to switch back and forth but with the same results.
I guess Mouser's idea to blame the OS could be the key.
Just tried another computer, Win10 this time with the same version of SC. Here everything works just fine.
I will probably re-install SC to see what happens then.
Anyway, here is an example:

Screenshot Captor / Thumbnails don't show embedded objects

This is a question that for unknown reasons was not published earlier.
It used to be that the thumbnails showed objects included such as text, arrows, cliparts etc. This is not the case anymore which I find highly disturbing.
Now here comes the funny part: After having started a new project, the thumbnails of the former one had the objects! The new ones however did not.
Any idea anybody?

Screenshot Captor / SC main window shows up after capture
« on: September 25, 2018, 10:43 AM »
This is the second problem that occurred recently. After taking a screenshot the main windows shows up which I find disturbing. In the preferences I marked "stay minimized" after capture show (interface options). Looks like something does not work properly unless I missed something which would not be exactly for the first time.

Try this:
Go to the options tab labeled "Window Capturing 1" and uncheck the box marked "Try to capture Aero Glass transparency effects".

See if that solves it.
Thank you for your answer. I found that one earlier but checked anyway.
Here are the results:
"Aero Gloss..." unchecked: black interior
Window capturing 2, first check box "Try to detect..." unchecked: black interior
Window capturing 2, below, "Do not try ..." checked: Well, folks, I can't believe it: regular screenshot of the whole window!!!!!!
Double checked with both items checked in window capturing 2: Also okay screenshot.
It looks very much like that option "Do not try to use PrtWindow() API ..." is the key, at least for my current problem.

You think it would help anybody else, maybe?

Screenshot Captor / Again: Black window captured
« on: June 02, 2014, 08:05 AM »
Sorry to put this evergreen on the table again.

While using Win7 64 and SC 8.4.5 or SC 4.8 I encountered the following again and again:
Taking screenshots of the active window results in black interior. First I thought it should be connected to the type of software to be captured - that would be casual games.
Then I discovered the same effect occurs with some regular Windows programs too. One example would be Inkscape.
In another thread I found that some folks had similar problems and were able to solve them by identifying security software. Now I use Eset as my AV protection. I tried gamer mode to no avail. I also tried deactivating Eset: same thing, black window interior.

Taking screenshots of the current game in full screen mode worked fine, as opposed to other experiences earlier.
Taking screenshots while playing in windowed mode also worked if captured the entire screen. This time the window is not all black.
Now the really annoying thing: I tried another screenshot program and wouldn't you know - it worked just fine in windowed mode. In case anybody wants to know: It is Greenshot.

All that stuff did never occur in earlier times with good ole XP.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Unexpected delay of capturing
« on: December 19, 2013, 03:54 AM »
@Tomos: Thank you for your answer.
It is not just the first screenshot, it started right from the getgo and never quit.
The "Use Delay" thing was my first thought but my friend swears she checked it multiple times.

Latest news: Now things are getting really weird. I sent her my Ini-files and told her to overwrite hers (the SC ini-files that is).
Result: She is excited that things are working well now -  without delay - but only in full screen mode (screen-current monitor).
Taking shots of the active window works with that delay again.
Now I'm really stuck. Aside from the fact that obviously we use different computers the only difference remaining is she has SC 4.8, I have 4.72.

Screenshot Captor / Black screen captured
« on: December 18, 2013, 12:12 PM »
Hello again,
while being at it I might as well report something that happened yesterday to me.
While writing walkthroughs for certain games I have to take some screenshots and never had any problem with any game whatsoever.
Until yesterday that is.
Only today I noticed that every (and I mean every, as in 100%) screenshot has just the right size but no content. Instead they are completely black.
This occurred taking shots while playing in full screen mode. I tried windowed mode and here at least it worked just as usual.
Now I am aware of the fact that this one probably is to blame on the developers of that specific game. But anyhow: Has anybody ever experienced something like that?
And possibly even an idea how to fix it?

I probably will have to settle with windowed mode this time which I hate since the borders and title bar are included.
Or does anybody know how to take shots only of the content of the active window?

Thank you again.

Screenshot Captor / Unexpected delay of capturing
« on: December 18, 2013, 12:01 PM »
Hello all,
this is a problem reported by a friend. I recommended SC to her since I use it for quite a while. But she encounteres one serious problem:
After having set up everything she took a few screenshots. The capturing started only after a delay of a couple seconds, both while capturing the active window and the whole screen.
Now I thought it was an easy to solve problem and asked her to check the options. But she insists there is no check mark at the delay option. Even with delay checked but 0ms chosen the same thing happened.
I have no clue what is going on especially since I never had that problem.
She had just downloaded and installed the latest version, I think 4.8.

Any idea anyboy?
Thank ayou for your time.

Now you made me curious. So why not have an early look and test it?
Yes, I would like to try it out.
Thanks

11
Not insulting. And yes, the resolution is 1920x1080.

12
Restarted: Yes, wquite often, every day at least once for a week or so.
Op system: Since I am of the old fashioned kind (never change a runnung system and so on), it is still Win XP, SP3.
And here is one other funny thing I just found out: Some games produce black areas at the left and right end of the screen, so that you have an optimal image (like TV-sets often do). In that case it seems to be the case that an image of the whole screen comes with those black parts at the end but the resolution now is 1600:900! Which is exactly the correct ratio.
Same computer, same monitor of course. One game without black parts at the left and right: 1280x1024
Another game with smaller meaningful screen but extra black areas: 1600x900.

13
The resolution of the captured images is definitely 1280x1024, both file manager and photo software say so.
Capture of active window looks fine. I tried just a second before using windows of different size. The images do have different sizes accordingly.
As for the change of monitors: Keep in mind that the old one is really old, no wide screen whatsoever, 1280x1024 was perfect then.
The new one does the mentioned things all of the time, I tried and tried for several days now.

14
My apologies should this problem already have been discussed, also please excuse my less than perfect English.
I have used Screenshot Captor for quite a while, exclusively for screenshots of games in full screen mode, ie no windows here.
That worked just fine until I bought a new monitor. The new resolution is 1920x1078 which leads to a ratio of 16:9.
The old one was regular 4:3 stuff (maybe 5:4, I'm not sure.)
The images used to have the size of 1280x1024 which was the right  ratio.
Now I would assume that Screenshot Captor recognizes the resoution of 1920x1078 and produces images with that ratio. Which seems not to be the case. The images still have the format of 1280x1024, a distortion is the consequence.
I did not find anything in the preferences where I possibly could do something to tell SC what it is supposed to do - ratiowise.

I tried capturing Screen and whole workspace (no idea anyway what the difference might be), results were just the same.
Any ideas anybody? Any help would be appreciated.
