dhuser: where're you? Maybe I should stop by and shop... :)

In Long Island, New York...
Google Map (of CompUSA Store location)- http://www.google.co...i=local&ct=image

(it is about a 15-20 minute trip from my house)

A checklist would be a very good idea...
An Idea- after a certin number of newsletters/time, if a user has completed every task, he/she will receive 1-2 Donation Credits.

Just an idea...

Developer's Corner / Re: The Best Introductory Language
« on: April 23, 2007, 08:50 AM »
I personally started with (and recommend) Visual Basic (or VB.NET) to beginner programmers. If any beginners want to start learning...
* Visual Basic Express Edition (FREE)- http://msdn.microsof.../vstudio/express/vb/
* Learn VB Express Edition- http://msdn.microsof...inner/windows/tier1/
* Create your First Program- http://msdn.microsof...windows/tier1/first/
It is visual and object-oriented.

Note that a LiveID/.NET Passport ID is required to register/activate.

The ribbon was a good idea before it was developed and put into practice. I agree that the ribbon might cause confusion and and is wasting space.

Most new ideas are praised, until they are put into practice.

(On a side note, the CompUSA store that it is closing by me, has Windows Vista CDs for 40% Off and is sold out of Office 2007 CDs.:tellme:)

General Software Discussion / Re: Softpedia's 100% FREE Award
« on: April 18, 2007, 07:17 AM »
Could it be done this way...:?
Move the file Softpedia is linking to and place it in another folder, while only updating the link on your website. It results in the link at Softpedia, giving a 404 Page Not found or Page not displayed error.

Living Room / Re: Been asked a MILLION times...Internet explorer
« on: April 12, 2007, 08:32 AM »
It will probably be safe to assume that one of the add-ons or extensions are not causing these ads to appear.

One problem with removing IE, is that is hard-wired into the system. It must be available for System Restore and many other Microsoft/Non-MS Applications

If you ever do get IE removed, make sure the installer does not remove system files, required by Windows.

Run a Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus Scan

Welcome to DonationCoder! I do not think there is a way to disable this. It probably can not be disabled, as it is hardwired into the system.

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows Picture and Fax Viewer
« on: April 05, 2007, 12:08 PM »
Just tried Photo Toolkit, and I like it. It does offer some nice photo editing features in the Viewer. It also includes its' own photo viewer and editor. I posted three screenshots below:
phtoolkit1.png
phtoolkit2.png
phtoolkit3.png

My only problem that I have with it is that it starts automatically with Windows, after unloading the toolbar from the Windows Image/Fax Viewer, it can be hard to find the settings menu, and that if the Windows Image/Fax viewer is not the default image viewer/editor, it always asks if you would like to make it the default.

Overall Nice Program, with some good features.

Probably not a good thing, but I have 1792 fonts installed. Mostly from desktop publishing software and graphics programs.

KenR: Nice find!  :)

I downloaded it and started to use it...
Very interesting and nice. Might be used to create tutorials for my software and other programs.

If you know and/or like to use Powerpoint, this will be very easy to use. Looks at somewhat acts the same.

Worth a look at.
Be Sure to Download the Zip File and not just the .msi file, as the MSI file alone will not start on my computer. The Zipped MSI Worked without problem.

General Software Discussion / Re: Astyle: A Free Visual CSS Editor
« on: March 21, 2007, 08:39 AM »
AStyle is designed for experts. New users (such as myself) will probably be confused by the interface and the general program.

In Short: New User? Find a more user-friendly program. Expert? Try it out, it may suit you.

Based upon my experience, Little Setup Builder does not create a screen at the end. If you want to give the author credit, feel free to.

« on: March 09, 2007, 03:43 PM »
For CSS, I use:
TopStyle Light- http://www.newsgator...le&ProdView=lite

EclipseStyle- http://greeneclipses...om/eclipsestyle.html

CSS Stylesheet Editor- http://www.causeway....uf/cssedit/index.htm

Style Master is great, but I usually edit it one of these programs (they are free).

I use Artweaver. I have to admit, it is really a great tool. It combines the best of Photoshop and Painter. An Automatic Updater is also included.
