My Gateway (actually re-badged Samsung) Centrino notebook dims the screen to 25% when the AC cord is removed and restores it to 100% when AC is reconnected. However, I don't know how this is accomplished, as there is nothing in my Power options under the Control Panel to control it. At any rate, this is a very effective notifier and I quite miss it when I play around on my wife's Compaq, non-Centrino, notebook. My brother's compaq does that also, though kruskal's idea would be good for all the computers that don't do that.-Darwin (May 22, 2007, 12:36 PM)
Actually, how do you uninstall U3 ? I have a Verbatim 4GB U3 key and don't see how I could manage this, expecially how to remove the second "un-useful" drive letter) ? Thanks. There is a program on the internet to remove it, I don't know where it is because I don't have a u3 drive.-MerleOne (May 22, 2007, 07:21 AM)
lol, yeah, that is something to do in large amounts, we don't want to go drunk driving.Another neat and related trick is a quick way to cool a bottle of wine. Wrap it in newspaper and soak the newspaper with water. Put the bottle on the outside of your car windshield in the wiper gutter and drive about 2 miles. The water evaporating from the newspaper will pull heat from the bottle and chill it very quickly.-edbro (May 12, 2007, 04:30 PM)
Notice that you should grab do this to several bottles of wine at once, since you shouldn't repeat the trick after you've drunk the first bottle :]-f0dder (May 13, 2007, 09:23 AM)
Sounds like great stuff, man! But you know, it is so easy?! People might get tired! Being all enthousiastic like that, wow!Its a good introduction to programing if you have never done it before I guess.
But I guess it's still refreshing in the programming language world, better then reading long dry volumes of reference manuals.

The design is cool! Now the only thing you need to be a true hacker is a "clickety clack" keyboardI need to master this HH stuff, and then get a keyboard that each time you push a button it would say Hackety Hack, that would be a sweet key board.-Lashiec (May 16, 2007, 05:06 AM)
I would disable AutoPlay asap. Virus from thumbdrives, portable harddisks, etc are able to spread when autoplay is enabled.hold down the shift key while plugging in the device, that will disable autorun for that time.-imtrobin (May 12, 2007, 10:37 PM)
