Find And Run Robot / Re: Fast Keystroke Freezes Up FARR

Okay, it did it again just now but this time I couldn't get it to close using the X button or the escape key. Just an FYI. :)

This forum has several excellent threads for Win7 apps and utilities afa what works by user testimonials:

Fantastic! Thank you so very much. It didn't occur to me that there's a site like that. (brain hiccup) Cheers!

if you let it take some time does it wake up?
it sounds like it might be this same issue of drives being asleep?

Hey mouser:
Nope. When it happens, it's become obvious since when I hit pause/break, FARR pops up and does not have a text cursor. When it works normally the text cursor blinks immediately.

Also, no, it's not a sleeping drive. It's quite odd; I use FARR countless times daily, and I use it in the same manner each time. I hope this helps diagnosing. One thing: if I remember correctly, this issue cropped up after the last FARR update. But I may be wrong...

Okay, this is now happening once a day. Funny enough, it seems to happen around the same time of day; in the late afternoon. It's now 5:45P CDT. One thing I noticed this time is that it froze up even when I wasn't hitting another key just milliseconds after FARR pops up; I waited a good two seconds before typing...

Revo is not yet officially updated for Win 7

Damn. I've been wondering how many of my apps aren't ready for Win 7 yet.

All I am saying is, that if he is using Vista there is no use for any third party program. Yes, there are PLENTY of faster and more advanced applications, but he only asked for this one option, date of installation, and nothing more!
 (see attachment in previous post)

Just an FYI: I'm currently using XP, but I'm about to install Windows 7 on one of my machines.

I refuse to own a printer, due to the cost of ink, but that may have changed over the years. I just remember it being outrageous back in 2000. I rarely have to print anything, and even then I take advantage of the office in my complex.

Eventually I upgraded to SiteSpinner Pro for simple sites for friends; more complicated work requires DW 8, which I like in spite of occasionally having to tweak the generated code for W3C compliance.

Wow. I forgot that I had SiteSpinner a few years ago. I can't remember what happened to it. I know I paid for it...

General Software Discussion / Re: Do you touch-type or hunt-and-peck?
« on: September 27, 2009, 07:40 PM »
Thanks to being forced to take typing class in middle school, using actual typewriters, not PCs. We had a panel that covered our hands as we typed, to discourage looking down at the keys. Today I type pretty quickly, and have little mistakes. I do have trouble with the number keys, as I'm used to using a ten-key on the right-hand side. And apparently I use the wrong hand with the Y key. Hmm.

Skrommel's Software / Skrommel's LiP
« on: September 25, 2009, 02:48 PM »
Is there a way to get LiP to work in Firefox? I tried adding a bookmark with the script in the address field. When I click it, though, it does show a page of empty image placeholders, but it never shows any pics...

As usual, any help is much appreciated!

Skrommel's Software / DimSaver: I Am Dim-Witted...
« on: September 25, 2009, 01:59 PM »
Hello:
So I was intrigued and downloaded DimSaver, but I'm having a little difficulty grasping the concept. I honestly don't know exactly what I was expecting, but when I went to the settings I was a little surprised at the many options. Can someone give me a concise run-down on this?

All input is very much appreciated!

Why must he install a third-party program? Windows does this as good as anything else; right-click, and make your choice!

I agree with app103. Windows' add/remove function is somewhere between crap and mediocre. Revo is very, very thorough.

I think I've tried a couple of other apps, but have found that Revo makes me smile. The advanced uninstall is perfect, creating a restore point, weeding out the registry items, and even removes start menu links. I dig it. :)

Find And Run Robot / Fast Keystroke Freezes Up FARR
« on: September 22, 2009, 07:29 PM »
Hello friends:  :)

I've noticed a little bug with FARR. I think my keystrokes are too fast for it. When I hit "pause/break" and immediately type something, FARR freezes up. It does display the history, but the text box won't show a blinking cursor and won't allow anything to be typed in it. I can't even select a history item shown. I then have to close and restart FARR to correct it.

Revo Uninstaller will show you that information.

LOL. Just as I posted my question, I thought to myself, "I wonder if RevoUninstaller does that". And voila, your reply appears. Fantastic! Thanks!

I used Kompozer to create my website http://www.singaporedeep.com.au.

Wow. I'm impressed. Your site is clean and easy on the eyes. Fantastic! What I am aiming for is far less complex, so I feel confident that I can achieve my goal using Kompozer. Thanks a lot! (And thanks to all of you! Your help is very much appreciated!)

General Software Discussion / Most Recently Installed Programs

Hello all:
I've found myself needing to know my most recently installed programs on my laptop. Sorting the Program Files folder by date does not do the trick. Is there a way to do this? Maybe a program that lists this info?

As usual, your help is always very much appreciated!

let us know which one you go with and why.

Well, after sifting through the options I have started working on Kompozer. How I found this one, I have no idea. I didn't find it here... I think. I went with this one because it was the easiest to dip into, and it has a good help section, explaining every menu function without alienating those of us lacking in web authoring savoir-faire. Now whether or not I'll be happy with the end result is another ball of wax. So, just in case, if you all have any additional suggestions, I welcome them with open arms. The one thing that I have yet to find is the ability to treat blocks of text as 'graphic' objects, allowing me to overlap large text headings (what typographers call leading), giving the text a more graphical feel. Ideally, I'd like to be able to move text/pictures around without the rigidity of sticking to traditional 'alignment', 'justification' and 'word wrap'. Yes, I want a 'simple' page, but I want to make it more than just a boring block of text. Like I said before, I want this to look slick.

While, yes, I want it to be a simple one-page deal, I do want it to look as slick as possible. I'm currently perusing all of your suggestions. :)

Well, Web Baker requirements are PHP (4.1 or higher) and MySQL (3.2.3 or higher), none of which I have. I've installed WebPlus and have had a look around. I think it may fit the bill... We'll see...

General Software Discussion / Freeware Website Creator For Dummies?
« on: September 17, 2009, 10:34 PM »
Hello all:
I've tried searching through the forum, but was unable to get the right combo of keywords. I'm looking for a freeware website creator. Something that is for complete dummies. I know nothing about creating a website. If it helps, I essentially want to create a one-page with my bio and a pic or two. As usual, I look to you for your sage advice!

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: KlipKeeper (A FARR2 Plugin by hamradio)

tomos & mouser:
Thank you so much for taking out the time to help me. Replacing the dll's seems to have done the trick. There were only two other instances of fscript.dll; one in GooglePlus and one in FSubScript, both of which I applied the dll that you said to download. I'm assuming that this will not adversely affect those plugins. Just in case, I saved the old ones. :)
