I'm not sure I got this right but Qaddafi I think proposed that Libya be the site of the UN, since it's closer to the population center of the World.  Well maybe this should be calculated although I'm sure its been done many times.  I'm not sure how to do it best, but if you use the populations of the countries of the world as they are today and then start with the capitol Libya as the target and weight the distances from the Libyan capitol according to the population and then add all these weighed distances togethor.  You could then do that for all the capitols of the world....Obviously there's better ways to do this but that's what I could think of...

Many people use Firefox these days because of the great spell checker.  However, sometimes spellcheckers get filled with entries which we don't wish were there.  Here is lifehacker's manual take on how to fix the problem: http://lifehacker.co...r-firefox-dictionary.

Instead why not create a web service or a Firefox add-in which first locates the persdict.dat file and then displays it in the browser.  Next using a different dictionary, it highlights possible misspellings in the custom spellchecker dictionary. It could be called "Firefox Spellchecker Tuneup"... of "Firefox Spellchecker Spellchecker" :-).

I suppose as a bonus the web service/application/Firefox add-in could offer to also tune up the MS Office custom dictionary, which apparently is located for Vista and Office 2007 at: C:\Users\[user
name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\UProof\CUSTOM.DIC and is just a list of words separated by carriage returns just like the Firefox one.

How about a batch changer of arbitrary IPTC or EXIF info according to that info found in a CSV file.  So for every image in a directory it will find an entry in the CSV file with that file name and change to the associated metadata specified.

When you start up Explorer by say right clicking on the Start Menu and choosing "Explore", it opens up to the useless Start Menu.  Instead why doesn't it open to the root iof the C: drive which would be more useful for developers and experts?  Ity would be great if you could change this.  A cursory search for such an app or registry setting by me on Google, came up with nothing.

I find it very difficult to keep track of what level I'm at in Vista's Explorer Tree on the left pane.  Why not have an applet that displays the levels?  For instance the folders could be labeled:

• "R" for root
• "1st"
• "2nd"

I suppose this could also be done by color but one might get confused and forget which color refers to which level.

Duh!! I didn't read my first post, it was I who contracted for the PHP converter, it wasn't posted by donation coders.  At any rate, is there someone who can fix the code?

OK, here is a Linux based installation: Gedcom2Wiki converter installation.  However with a very easy standard 3 or 4 generation file 9 KB like this one: Simple GED File, it gives screwy results.     Here are the problems I see:

• The names of all the ancestors are bracketed by three.{{{}}}
• The related lines go off the page.
• The names of the ancestors are abbreviated.
• I don't think the right relatedness is shown.

I tested the results markup in the Wikimedia Sandbox.

I think it would be cool to have a gedcom to wiki family tree template converter.   It would seem simple enough to do but ah, I'm not a coder.

I have actually had someone start this in Rent-a-Coder but he bailed out. His code kind of works but the results are a bit jumbled up and not perfect.  The results are attached.

Here is the original request I posted at rentacoder.com:

"I would like a developer to program a Web application that coverts gedcom genealogy files to Wikimedia family tree template code.
