this is a nice idea but there are some really fun good noise generators.. that can play and save to wav too; anyone got any good links?

37352
the font idea sounds kinda fun.. like make your own Ransom fonts.. but i don't have the slightest idea how to code it? any programmers with some font coding experience?

the random desktop color scheme... that just sounds masochistic.

37353
very interesting app.

http://home.rocheste...com/artcfox/GhostIt/

can someone try this with DesktopCoral and see if it allows you to put icons in the corral and click through to them?

37354
we need some text-based commandline tool requests also!!!
not just all these windows-specific system tool.

37355
it was suggested that windows 2k/xp have policy settings built in where you can specify applications to launch at login; i tested these and they do not work for fast user switching, so such a tool is still nesc.

would probably be quite easy to make a tray tool that checked user name periodically and called apps on change, but would be nicer to have a more sophisticated solution..

Unfinished Requests / Re: IDEA: mix CD ripper
« on: April 30, 2005, 07:04 PM »
im guessing there are (freeware) programs to do this, though i'm not 100% sure what you are asking.

someone here hopefully knows of one, ill leave the thread open until it's replied to.

of course i can, what a brilliant request.

See coding snacks download page:
https://www.donation...dingSnacks/index.php

yep, you can get a blue screen inside vmware - it's a joy to behold.

i imagines its kinda like if a robber shoots you and you have bullet proof glass - there is a distinct feeling of satisfaction  ;)

I'd like to propose this as its official name:

DYDLO

acronym for Dad You Didn't Log Off!

but ill leave it to requester to give it an official name.

download on official CodingSnacks page:

hahahahaah i didnt think of that.

it's true this request is already implemented in commercial and freeware form.

commercial = win95/98
freeware = viruses

37361
hahaahahahaha

37362
i'd like to see some creative useless tiny tiny app requests.

37363
i can add a disconnect/connect option to menu if it is desired.

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Titlebar Clock
« on: April 30, 2005, 03:11 PM »
its not freeware though ($10), so people keep looking - i know there are more titlebar clocks out there.

im changing this to thumbs down just because it already exists somewhere - but please post if you know more apps that do this - the thread isnt closed.

Find And Run Robot / Re: New Thought

you can currently tell f&r to launch an app and not close.. and i think i might be able to write code to send it into the background..  certainly would be easy to launch it minimized..

i apologize for their not being another feature release of f&r for a while, but i am collecting the ideas and i just need to find a few days to really devote to it.. i have some nice plans in store i think, in addition to all the things we've talked about here.

General Software Discussion / Re: software i love
« on: April 30, 2005, 03:07 PM »
We've been online for a about 6 weeks i think
We are not going anywhere - this is a permanent site which we will not stop working on, and with the participation of people in the forum this site will become an even greater resource i hope.

the one major step that we are looking forward to making is to set up a way to have multiple programmers and writers have their programs and content here and set up our planned system of dividing donations.  currently there aren't enough donations coming in for that to make a difference, but we hope that the site will become popular enough to where it makes sense to have a system for dividing up donations between multiple authors.

in short, bookmark the page, we're not going anywhere

Coding Snack Guidelines / POST ICONS: what they mean
« on: April 30, 2005, 02:54 PM »
Exclamation Point Icons will be used for administration messages here.

Normal Note icons will be used for Ideas.

Question Marks will be used when an app seems promising.
Thumbs up means a coder has started programming it.
Thumbs Down will be used when an app is deemed not codable as a snack, or superceded by existing freeware.

Smiley face will be used when an app has been coded to perform this function, and is available for download.

37369
ok i think i'm done with this..
waiting for feedback.

now has a bit of transparency for win2k/xp.
saves window pos.
no balloons by default.
shows seconds by default but can be turned off from ini file)

you can close it and it will pop up again in 15 minutes.

Finished Programs / Re: IDEA: Automatic Copy when highlighted
« on: April 30, 2005, 02:16 PM »
well it would be trivial to make an editor that does copy on select.
the request here i think was to enable this feature in ALL apps, yes?

agree, this rings a bell - this has been implemented before, just a matter of finding it.

file targets is very nice; there are some others that are similar too.

unfortunately it doesnt seem to work very well in some windows explorer replacements like Directory Opus, at least from my experience..

37373
this was just a test.

try the new upload at same url, it pops up a timer clock window when connected.

if this works ok then what i will add is memory for clock position, and add some transparency.

37374
ok then, valhala this one is yours.

37375
interesting ideas.

the first idea might look right, but as i have discovered with desktopcoral - the problem is that you would make it impossible to now "select" the windows that are behind the transparent mask.

the second idea is much more intriguring...
leaving aside the wallpaper, you could make all other windows transparent unless they are the active window..
now this actually seems feasible and is interesting.. would also make it easier to make exceptions to the rule, so that you could specify certain apps that shouldn't have their windows made 50% transparent...
clever idea, and seems doable.
