Living Room / Opinions requested on my new YouTube Video Series
« on: February 14, 2022, 11:30 PM »
I've recorded a 5+ hour (16 part?) video series called "Micro-studio Boardgame Video Production":

First episode:

It covers most of what I've learned in the last year.

It's not live yet, I still have another 10 days or so before I make it live, and I'd love any feedback about things that I should fix before making it live!
Let me know your suggestions.

Co-op for Two is the channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/COOPFORTWO

It's still active, though I've not been filming with another person so it's just less frequent solo stuff lately, but I've been enjoying long 8 hour livestreams playing mystery games.

It's things like this that Microsoft should be improving with new versions of windows, making it possible to more easily troubleshoot.

It may not be related to that powershell thing, but it may be if the monitor resolutions changed since SC was started that can do it -- restarting SC will also fix that if monitor configuration has changed since it was started.

Are you using the latest version of Screenshot Captor?

Those of us who don't play many games but like watching retro stuff would get a kick out of a youtube video of you playing it and discussing how you made it and what secrets there are, etc.

Just click-hold-drag it from an empty location on the toolbar.

I've created an open source directory for miscellaneous scripts and tools for OBS (Open Broadcasting Studio):
https://github.com/dcmouser/obsScripts

Browser based animated flip timer (used to show time until some date or a countdown of a specific duration):
example2.png

Sidebar dock for OBS that acts as a tally indicator of recording/streaming status, using Websockets:
jrTally.png

Also includes a youtube chat script that changes a browser source on a scene to show the current chat contents overlaid on a screen

And a fix for an existing lua timer that I no longer use.

ALL of these are just minor tweaks from me of code written by others.

Can you elaborate a little -- what goes wrong?

Screenshot Captor / Re: How to use brush erase
« on: January 20, 2022, 06:20 PM »
As you've surmised, it is only for erasing pixels that you have painted on with the paint/draw tool in SC -- it won't erase original contents of the screenshot.
SC is not mean to be a full graphics editor, so more more complicated editing, you can use a real graphics editor like Gimp -- which you can set as a tool in SC to easily launch it, and SC will automatically pick up any changes and keep your annotations when updating.

With that said, SC does have a few specialty features for "removing" stuff -- under the SpecialFX1 menu you will find effects to blur and hide information in the selection region.
And under the SpecialFX2 menu you will find options to splice out areas of your image, OR "Patch" areas to make them equal to background -- it's this last option that might be most useful to you.

I think I did fix this in the beta: (2.250)

FlipSuite and Flipbook Printer / Re: License key
« on: January 20, 2022, 04:02 PM »
Hi Werner.

Flipbook Printer actually underwent an unusual process.  I sold the commercial rights to it many years ago and struct an arrangement with the buyer that the free version would remain available, and in fact not even need a license key -- but that printouts would say "not for commercial use".

So the answer is that you don't need a license key to use the program and all of it's features indefinitely -- but that you can't use it for commercial use or remove that text.

As always, I'm happy to refund any donation if you like.  I apologize for any confusion/frustration.

ps. I don't believe they are still using the software any more, so you might try to track them down and enquire about the rights to use it commercially.

Went looking for a straightforward tool to let me broadcast one of my pc screens to an android tablet during a recording -- with the additional need to be able to flip/mirror the screen in the process for a teleprompter effect.

Came across deskreen which seems to work well and is free (donations encouraged):

$70-$85 per year code signing certificate -- prices have come down in last few years.  I could not afford to spend hundreds of dollars for the luxury of it.

Just ordered a new code signing certificate.  I had to leave K Software, they did not respond at all to emails.  The entire code signing process feels like it was designed to inflict maximum frustration.

toggle will hide it if it is currently shown, or show it if it is currently not shown, so same thing as hitting the hotkey.
