Screenshot Captor / Re: Grapics Card error pop-up on capturing
« on: April 24, 2022, 08:36 AM »
That is a bizzare error!!!!!

It does not come from within Screenshot Captor -- no where in the code does it say that.
I wonder what is going on... Can you reinstall the latest version of Screenshot Captor -- maybe try the portable version...
I can't think of what would trigger such a message.

When exactly does the error come up? When you start the program or when you make a capture?

Living Room / Bought a color laser printer -- it's a game changer
« on: April 24, 2022, 04:01 AM »
I have always done a lot of printing on my (black+white) laser printer.  I love the speed of printing, long lasting ink, easy and fast duplexing, and the quality.  I frequently print papers to read, documentation, board game rules, etc.

And I have always had a color inkjet printer, upgraded through the years, but never a pleasure to use.  Too slow, ink is too EXPENSIVE, and dries out from infrequent use, slow startup times, waste of space.

I would only use the color inkjet on the rare occasions when I needed color -- most of the time if it was a document with just a little color or where I didn't care, I'd print on the laser in black and white.

---

But I finally bit the bullet and bought a color laser (HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw for about $350).

It feels like a bresh of fresh air.  It has almost all the advantages of the black and white laser, but I now can print out documents with some color in them, and just have to deal with 1 printer.

Now if you need to print photos, then the color laser is not going to satisfy you; inkjets produce far better nice glossy color photos.

But for everything else it's been a joy and a relief to not have to mess with the inkjet.

I'll also say, I do think the black pure text printing from the color laser is *slightly* worse quality than my previous black+white laser, but especially with my eyes not being what they were, it's barely noticable and an easy trade off for me for the benefits of color printing.  I'm so glad to be done with inkjets.

Minor update to my extensions posted to github to better let you filter out MOGRT from normal video clips in the TimeStamper and SoundFxAdder extensions.

I can fix this.

155
Glad to hear the new version is working.  I think I could add an option to list the duplicates.
Thanks for typo report, will fix.

Got it and was able to reproduce the error, which should make it easy to fix.  Should have a new version up this weekend.

Getting an error about "relative url without a base" quite frequently with some youtube urls, not sure why.  For example this one: https://www.youtube..../watch?v=Qi7knpS1hBA

If you right-click on the tray icon and choose Capture Options -> "Engage auto capture timer".
But if you want to do a lot of automatic capturing, I would suggest my other app, Automatic Screenshotter which is more designed specifically for this kind of thing: https://www.donation...omatic-screenshotter

I'm not getting any results when i search, even after putting in my api key.  Not sure why.  Says "Exception while searching" after some time, but no info is in the Exception/Error box.

John, I sent you a message.

Thanks for letting us know the solution -- maybe I can add a command in SC to run this cache refresh..

This is looking pretty darn good!!
I like the ability to sort the results, and the Game Info list is nice.
Maybe add an option for the direction of the sort (ascending vs descending)?

It doesn't seem to be crashing on me anymore, which is the huge improvement!
The API delay is a bit annoying, but maybe that's can't be helped..  What happens if you turn off the API delay, does the server refuse to respond? Maybe add an option if it's up to the user ..

Here's a request: In the Game Info box can we start with entries for
Name:
Year:
Description:

This can be the same info from the fetch result list, it would just be more useful if it was also in the Game Info box.

Thank you for making this!

Hi Guys! This thread is for testing and completing development of BGGfetch version(s).

The program is in a "should work" state, but some user-testing is required.

Today's version is v0.1-Alpha20220228.0:

Thanks for your testing & reports

Living Room / Re: Tips for failing eyesight? PC use
« on: March 02, 2022, 12:32 PM »
It will absolutely make a big difference to have a 27" monitor.
As you say the resolution is not important, don't need 4k.
And set windows font size (dpi) higher.
Windows also has a magnifier tool but I think if you set the resolution to a reasonable value, and windows font size higher (150%?) that may be good enough.

Living Room / Re: Opinions requested on my new YouTube Video Series
« on: February 22, 2022, 12:42 PM »
It's a good point, the numbers for the different videos are weird. The numbers are based on the outline I prepared ahead of time, so when I ended up making multiple videos for a section I ended up with like 3a,3b,3c.  If I was posting the course on some site made for courses it would probably be a little easier to organize everything -- with YouTube the best I can do is make a playlist but people will still probably be jumping into it randomly.

By they way, the series is now live and public.
I don't really know any good way to tell people about it, so if you think you know someone who would benefit from it please share a link with them!

Now that is a good question -- I would think I would have added such an option but I can't find it so maybe I didn't.  Putting it on my todo list now.

Living Room / Opinions requested on my new YouTube Video Series
« on: February 14, 2022, 11:30 PM »
I've recorded a 5+ hour (16 part?) video series called "Micro-studio Boardgame Video Production":

First episode:

It covers most of what I've learned in the last year.

It's not live yet, I still have another 10 days or so before I make it live, and I'd love any feedback about things that I should fix before making it live!
Let me know your suggestions.
