Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Desktop Teleporter

Thanks for putting so much thought into my situation...jgpaiva

I kinda like your option 1 and 2....

But the thing about desktop is that the drag&drop area is so huge, so even if you have a few active windows open, you can still find a space to drop your stuff....so for option 1, i will need to shift the windows out of the way to show the soft link folder then drag and drop into it.

Option 2 will be like the "Unused Desktop shortcut" thingy that XP sometimes performed, maybe i can explore that to see if i can customised it to run at a more frequent schedule....

Hi,

I know I shouldn't put everything i have on the desktop...too messy...

But i cant help it... :P

It is so easy to just drag things to Desktop or download things to desktop....19 inches of monitor space to drop... :D

So it there any program where you drag/download things to desktop, it will "teleport" to a designated folder making the desktop as empty and clean as an empty mug (OK, maybe some coffee stains :P)

its just that normal file explorer can run the dialog but with FARR the run button is disable somehow....

so when i need to run this app with FARR... i cant....i need to look manually for the file and then double click it...

I just started using this, and i must say this is a very useful app...good job :Thmbsup

Is there a way for the active window to snap to the next available element by using a shortcut?

e.g. I am using 2 parts of a 3-part grid, i open another window, i double-click MButton and the active window will snap to the third part.

Living Room / Re: Monitor Display problem
« on: September 14, 2006, 08:16 PM »
Thanks for all your advice.....i think too that my monitor is probably dying (do euthanasia by pulling the plug??? :P)

yesterday i did some more test...

1) first i off my monitor before starting up the com, then on it after a few seconds into the boot process, the monitor came on and i can see the last few bits of the boot message.

2) then i reset a few more times, but the display just wont on even at the windows logon screen.(the LED beside the ON switch on the monitor is green each time)

3) tried different combinations of pushing the ON monitor switch and reset button, nothing happen. Finally, tried the universal technique of getting electronics to work; i smack the monitor around (it works with my TV set !!!).

Basically, cannot get the display to come on anymore....just wish to see smoke coming out of the monitor to get some closure on this issue...

Thanks,
Joe

Living Room / Monitor Display problem
« on: September 13, 2006, 08:21 PM »
Hi,

would like some advice on a problem that i have...

recently, my monitor exhibit a weird behaviour. When i startup my computer, the monitor will turn on, but there will be no display on the screen (no boot messages). The computer will run its course until it reaches the log in page of win XP which there is still no display. Yesterday i discovered a trick whereby at the login page, i turn off the monitor and turn on again, and the display will come on again.

i have try this trick during the boot process, but the boot message still wont come on. And also, without display i cannot go into the BIOS menu to troubleshoot.

Any idea what is causing this? Thanks in advance...

(By the way, i am using a CRT monitor Samsung 551s)

IntelliComplete does this best but it's is a little buggy.

http://www.flashpeak.com/icomp/

What programs have you found?

hi imtrobin,

i have try IntelliComplete and it works very well for me...i have not encounter any bugs yet, so i will crossed my fingers....

One thing though, i am also using FARR and both programs uses numpad or main digits to make a selection.
So whenever i search in FARR and press a number, it will auto-complete the word for me....

Is there a way to disable IntelliComplete on FARR?

Ops....i think i type into the quote.... :P

Yes, i agree totally...i think most of my scripts are trigger by AHK hotstrings rather that AHK hotkeys....

Edit by brotherS: I deleted your other post, please just use the "Modify" button to fix it next time :) (instead of writing a second post)

i have try a couple of shareware:

UltimaShell 2.2 - Hang my MS word
Word-Storm Processor (SB) 5.8.4 - doesnt work in MS word

I will try out intellicomplete and see if it suits me...thanks...

Yes...i know i can replace exsisting hotkey on my system using Autohotkey....

But that is what I am not trying to do....i am trying to map my hotkeys to unused combinations so that i dont erase "well known" shortcuts which i dont use now but might use later....Hope this is clear as i cant express myself in english as it is not my native language.... ;)

43
Just want to ask....is there any software that tells you all the hotkeys you have on your system?

i used AutoHotKey and didnt want to override some of pre-exsisting hotkeys on my system....

It would be nice if it can show which combinations are not in use, so that i can define my own hotkey.... :D

hi,

Feel free to ignore me if this is more than a coding snacks....

I find the auto-correct function in ms word not that useful, so i am thinking of a small program that just search within a dictionary and suggest closest word as you type. Sort of like T9 predictive text in mobile phone.

I have google this and found programs that does this but with alot more bloated features that i do not need....

Wish all programs (FARR, DialogMove, etc.)were as simple and easy to use found here....
