4wd, please elaborate?

127
Excellent point, Skwire.  That may be the reason why no such program seems to exist out there.

Request still stands, however.  I'd really like to be able to do as I ask.

You did something similar with image files.  Auto sorting into folders by dimension.

Looking for a way to sort/organize mp3 files in a folder into a set of folders by bitrate:

320 kbps mp3s --> appropriate folder named "320"
192 kbps mp3s --> appropriate folder named "192"
etc.

Any thoughts appreciated.

100,000 .mp3 files -- intermixed with other formats, such as .flac -- in a giant tree structure.  Branches of trees are "Artist" and "Album".

I wanted to move ONLY the .mp3 files to another drive, leaving .flac, etc., where they are.

As you've said, a myriad of programs out there to do it.  Such as xcopy, robocopy, richcopy.

Thought it best to use a gui program, to see more clearly what's about to happen... before pressing go.

130
Thanks, Skwire, for clarifying.  Yes, wanted to move all .mp3 files from folder A to folder B, keeping the entire folder structure where the .mp3 files reside.

Will try another app.

131
Seems all files are placed into single folder.  Original nested folders as well.  No mirrored folders appear to be created.

Is there a way to copy the original folder structure, too?

Thanks!

Well, after searching for whatever alternatives might exist out there, lo and behold, Skwire nailed it.

http://www.dcmembers...download/schecklist/

Seems to do exactly what's asked for.

Still testing it out, but so far so good.

Thanks Chris and wraith808.  Using Excel does seem a viable option.  Able to copy/paste, or import, into a single column.  Then Ctrl-Click to highlight cells, as needed.  Hit delete -- which leaves blank cells.  All good.

And, no, haven't yet decided which ones to delete.  Need to look over, review, maybe another time as well.

134
Suppose one has a long list of names, one after another, in a text file.

One wishes to delete a number of those.

The standard text editor will only allow you to delete one at a time, unless they are contiguous in the list.

Looking for a program that will allow 'marking' various rows, to then subsequently delete them.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds super, Vic.  Looking forward to it.

Sphere, thanks for the additional leads!

Thanks for the lead, sphere.  I'd prefer to not need any user intervention.  Set once, forget it.

I noticed there are many Java countdown timers out there.  Android apparently is built on Java.  Wonder how hard it would be to use existing Java code, and make a tiny Android ap as requested.

Post New Requests Here / Android?? Basic simple countdown timer....

Lots of Android countdown timers out there, but not what I want.

The one below comes close:

https://play.google....mbo.ovo&hl=en_US

Here is what it lacks, that I'd really like to have:

-- Save user-defined/adjustable default countdown amount.  (20 minutes)

-- Start counting down as soon as program runs, no user intervention needed.

-- Make sure program can be scheduled to run on device (tablet) start.

-- Allow for playing whatever 'sounds' are available in system.  (series of beeps)

-- If possible, pause the existing music being played (AIMP), and after sounding (beeping for 3 to 5 seconds), allow music to resume.

-- When alarm goes off, don't require any user intervention.  Just close and disappear.

No need for any other bells and whistles.

Thanks!

mouser, if you are up for it, too, would be super to have a small window open on screen to say "Capture Successful", and to go away after a few seconds.

That's true, as well, with regular capture.  Never can be certain that a capture was actually made.

Thanks!

139
If only.  Hmmm.

Pop-up dialog still pops up.  And stays up, screen center.

Normally, as said, it's best to have that pop-up window show itself, just to be certain that a capture was indeed made.  Then I click on "Save image but hide".

My normal setting is:

Preferences -->
The Basics -->
Interface Options -->
After Capture Show -->
PopUp Choice Dialog

However, if I want to automatically inconspicuously make a capture, I don't want any pop-up.  No interaction.  Other than command line batch file executing.  Please.

So, if there can be a way of over-riding, via command line, that would be ideal.

Thanks!

140
Looks like that will do the trick, Ath.

Thanks a bunch!

141
Normally I want SC to come up on screen when I capture.  Just to be sure it's capturing.

However, there are times I use command line, and don't want to see anything.

So, please allow an additional command line switch:

ScreenshotCaptor.exe -capture screen_silent

Thanks!

142
Yes to both questions.

As I recall, at one time the tray notifications for Screen Captor did work on my computer.  Not sure why not now.

143
For some reason the Balloon Tip in System Tray doesn't show up after a screenshot capture.  I do have the preferences box checked, yes.

Any ideas what I might be able to do to get it to show up.

Not sure I've really taken a screenshot capture, so I end up taking a bunch, then checking the folder to make sure.

A work-around is to "After capture show...  Post-capture popup dialogue."

But a 3-5 second Balloon Tip would be the better way to go, to be sure capture was actually taken.

Thanks!

What might be the best way of typing a note on the screen before taking a screenshot with Screenshot Captor?

Sometimes I'd like to 'annotate' what and why I'm taking the screenshot.  Would be super to have a small movable note to that effect.  I'd prefer a white rectangular background.  Minimalist.  Editable.  Adjustable-sized font.  Closely cropped to the text.

Thanks!

Chris, message following window close always seems to come up, regardless of settings.

I'd rather message NOT come up, if possible.  Just do it.

Thanks!

Guys and gals, let's wrap this one up.  Anything more we can do?

If limited to less than 2 GB to be moved, probably best to use highend01 method, one-double-click.  Easy peasy.

If more than 2 GB, 4wd has a terrific approach, just requiring a few more steps.

@4wd, nicely done, indeed.  However, the example given is not so complicated, bear in mind.

Interesting that your suggestion, and of @highend01, is regex.  Pattern matching.  All 'intermediate' items must be matched.

Not exactly a through -- ordinal -- approach.

Using the usual Explorer route -- highlighting the first, shift-highlighting the last -- seemingly would be.  No command-line equivalent.

Post New Requests Here / Select Range of Files Via Batch File
« on: April 07, 2019, 02:44 AM »
Consider the following files within a folder:

01.txt
02.txt
03.txt
04.txt
05.txt
06.txt
07.txt
08.txt
09.txt

Via batch file how can one select a range of files, say to be moved?

Example:

Move 03.txt through 07.txt from folder A to folder B.

Such a simple thing.  And yet....

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

Me?

I just thought of another question....

Okay, here is where we now stand:  As pointed out in the url above, advice #2 is to use "another language."

That seems clear enough (especially bolded).

Who else would like to take the next step?
