N.A.N.Y. 2014 / Re: NANY 2014 Release - epCheck
« on: January 04, 2020, 08:44 AM »
I want to fix epCheck, because it's an app that I enjoy using myself.
 Very glad to hear that. Looking forward to it.

In the past, I've had a show or a couple of shows have their data disappear from the Series list.
I've had the same. (cf. Reply #365). Make sure you use 1.1.5 Build 166. At least it solved my problem at that moment.

What a relief!
Good to hear.

I think when they're talking about "version 3" in their forum they mean their web site.
The API is version 2.2 (https://api.thetvdb.com/swagger).

And btw, epCheck is still working well on my side.

Hi skwire,

I'm a long time user of epcheck.
Today I wanted to mark my "progress" to the TV series "Big Little Lies", but it didn't show any information for that series (I added earlier to "My shows").
When I try to refresh the series data, it "hangs".
I closed the program. Removed the show from the files myshows.txt and watched.ini.
I restarted epcheck, tried to add "Big Little Lies" to my shows again, but once again it hangs showing

        Downloading data for:
              Big Little Lies

Any idea what's going on?
Presumably a problem with the source you get the info from?
PS. I had the same problem (no data showing) for the (earlier added) series "Black Mirror", but removing and re-adding it solved it. However, not so for "Big Little Lies".

Kind regards

[Update]
I had the above problem with version 1.1.5 Build 1.
But after some browsing around in this thread I found the latest version is 1.1.5 Build 166.
I installed that one, did a refresh of the data. It didn't hang no more, but it showed nothing (white space).
But after selecting another series and selecting "Big Little Lies" again, I had all the information.
So, problem solved apparently.

Find And Run Robot / Is there really a new version 2.226.01?
« on: December 07, 2015, 01:47 AM »
At https://www.donation...r/findrun/index.html I see:

Download v2.226.01
(or get the portable zip)
Windows 2K/XP/x64/VISTA/Win7/Win8
June 26, 2015

Is this a hack?
  • Why is the date of this release set to June 26?
  • FARR itself presents it as a Beta.
Nothing mentioned about that on the site.
:tellme: Very confusing for sure  :tellme:
I don't feel comfortable downloading it.

6
All right.
It's clear now: no problems for downloading something from DC at home.
Meaning: at the office they have "difficulties" with the DonationCoder website.
But strange enough, with that one only.

Thanks for trying to help and thinking with me.

7
Have you tried direct downloads instead of going through a download manager?
Yes I did.
As I said:
2) I tried to download the file with Chrome (without any plug in): same problem.

Pheeew. What a relief!  :D

you solved it completely and correctly -- you are all set
Thanks for the confirmation (and for your time)

Find And Run Robot / Re: My Aliases are gone after update
« on: March 24, 2015, 06:31 AM »
it wasn't stupidity, its something people have encountered before.
Well, I'm not convinced that the validity of the second part, proves the validity of the first part.  ;)
Anyway.

You might have misunderstood my goal: I want to have FARR running in portable mode. (I'm running Windows 7)

So, that's why - as to rectify my mistake - I downloaded the portable version and unzipped it to my c:\tools\launch\FARR directory
That's the directory
1) where I did unzip the portable version to previously ànd
2) which I choose to install the (by mistake) non-portable FARR in today.

So, I think thought, now I'm running FARR in portable mode and it gets my aliases from the file c:\tools\launch\FARR\AliasGroups\MyCustom\myaliases.alias
Unfortunately, I have added an aliases and indeed the file c:\tools\launch\FARR\AliasGroups\MyCustom\myaliases.alias hasn't changed.  :'(
But the file c:\Users\...\Documents\DonationCoder\FindAndRunRobot\AliasGroups\MyCustom\myaliases.alias has!

To summarize, your goal is to have your custom settings in your "c:\users\...\documents\DonationCoder\FindAndRunRobot" directory.
No. I want them in my portable directory c:\tools\launch\FARR\AliasGroups\MyCustom\myaliases.alias

But given the info you provided, I exited FARR and went to the c:\tools\launch\FARR directory and found:
* A file "ConfigDir_Sample.ini" in which everything was commented out
* A file "ConfigDir.ini" in which everything was commented out
* A file "ConfigDir_Default.ini" in which the lines
       PORTABLE=TRUE
       CONFIGDIR = .
   were active

I opened the file "ConfigDir.ini" and made the lines
       PORTABLE=TRUE
       CONFIGDIR = .
active and this solved my problem. When now I add a new alias it is added in c:\tools\launch\FARR\AliasGroups\MyCustom\myaliases.alias.

I think I'm good now. Right?

But if it's a problem you encounter every time, then that can't be the explanation.
Indeed. That isn't the problem.

I'm located in Belgium. In my work office. Sorry, I don't know for sure who's the provider of my employer.
What I will do, is try to perform a DC download at home and see if it is different over there.
(I don't remember by heart if I had DonationCoder download problems @ home)
I'll keep you informed.

Do you experience the forum having trouble loading for you as well, or is it only just downloads?
Just downloads. They start at reasonable speed and the speed is decrementing as it goes to eventually stop.
But now, I know I can resume with my download manager plugin.

Find And Run Robot / Re: My Aliases are gone after update
« on: March 24, 2015, 05:28 AM »
Hi mouser,

First things first:
Ok, lets try to help
Appreciated very much!

Is it possible you switched from a portable install to a non-portable install of FARR
You're spot on.
During my first post and this one I didn't sit and wait, of course. (Since it's really annoying not to have my launcher at hand - I miss it every minute)
So I added a new alias in my group and nothing changed to my file "myaliases.alias".
However - after some time - I went searching (with Everything) for another instance of "myaliases.alias" and... indeed found it: c:\users\...\documents\DonationCoder\FindAndRunRobot\AliasGroups\MyCustom!
Which made me realize that indeed I grabbed the normal setup file (I'm still wondering why I did that - I'm a fan of portable apps), while previously I went for the portable version.

So, this is what I did to solve the problem:
* I grabbed the portable zip file
* unzipped it in my FARR directory and
* it seems as if I'm up and running again.  :)

Sorry for my stupidness.
Thanks a lot for your willing to help. (time to spend some credits)

Find And Run Robot / My Aliases are gone after update
« on: March 24, 2015, 03:45 AM »
Hi,
Today I updated FARR to the latetst version.
After that I experience that my aliases are gone. Frustrating since I rely for 100% on aliases.

In the subdirectory AliasGroups I find two subdirectories: "Installed" and "MyCustom".
In the subdirectory "MyCustom" I detect a file "myaliases.alias" (and some backup files) containing my aliases.
Q: How do I tell the updated FARR to use/know those aliases?

13
Hi,
Every time I have to download something from DonationCoder I have to retry five, if not ten times until I get the file I want.
This is not a one time thing. I detect the problem really every time.
Today FARR (and also Screenshot Captor) came and told me there was an update.
So I went to the download page and tried to download FindAndRunRobotSetup.exe. I tried ten times without success.
Every time the download process is interrupted.
I use the latetst FireFox and "Download Manager S3" plugin.
So then you think that is the problem. But
1) I don't have this problem with any other site I download from
2) I tried to download the file with Chrome (without any plug in): same problem. After some time it stops the download (I see the download speed decrementing) and gives "unknown network error".
At last the download speed comes down to 0 (cf. screenshot: Screenshot)

I wonder if I'm the only one with this problem.
I experience this problem already several - I think - years but after some trying, the download always succeeded at last.
Today is different. So I decided to post about it.

Also, could someone give me a ZippyShare/DropBox/... link to the latest FARR and ScreenshotCapture downloads?
[Update] No longer needed since at last I managed to download successfully.
In the "Download Manager (S3)" plug in, I choose several times to "Resume" and at last the file is downloaded.
Very strange. Why only with DonationCoder?

14
I would like to give this a try, but the download link gives me a "404 Error File Not Found" message...

15
I love Cathy's speed as well but, unless I'm mistaken, it does not handle Unicode.  At least, in my tests, it doesn't.
You're probably right. But that's no problem for me.

16
I am impressed how well and blazingly fast Cathy is working on my 64-bits Win 7
That's exactly why I'm  :-* it sooo much.

question:
What is "Hit limit [512] < 10000"?
It means that Cathy will stop its searching for matching items after 512 matches. I use 5000 for that setting.
PS. Sorry for the very late answer  :-[
I just stumbled upon this thread again.

17
Thanks 4wd for this information. It's definitely worth a try.

One remark:
It's not tamper proof (you change the clock and you have internet access again or you run those commands yourself - given you know what is "wrong" with the internet connection)

Another:
Would it be possible to alter that task remotely?

18
Hi,

I'm looking for a simple and lightweight freeware windows application that controls internet access based on a time schedule I can specify.
Eg. Every evening from 23:00 cut off the internet access till 07:00. But on Saturday and Sunday keep it up until midnight.
No fancy and/or heavy parental control application. Just enabling/disabling internet access.
Of course the program should be secured against
- switching it off by eg. killing it in the task manager
- tampering with the time settings
- ...

Currently I am able to log in to the website of my ISP and enable/disable WIFI access based on MAC-addresses. (I have to use the modem/router my ISP provides me)
But, if I want to switch off the internet access for my son at midnight, I have to do it...well at midnight.
I'd like to go to sleep and be assured that at midnight it will be switched off. (for that MAC address)
So, I miss scheduling. That's why I asked for an application - installed on the pc - that could take care of this.

Being able to control the time schedule remotely (via the internet or via LAN) would be the icing on the cake.

Kind regards

Screenshot Captor / Re: auto move folders isnt working; request
« on: May 28, 2013, 03:30 AM »
I experience the same problem. My old screenshots are not auto moved anymore. Although the check box is selected.

So, reading this topic, I manually performed the action "Move *old* screenshots to "OLDER\%FILEDATE%".
That worked.
Although... ALL screenshots were moved; also the ones I created a minute ago...
Since there's also a menu item "Move *all* screenshots to "OLDER\%FILEDATE%" I don't think that was the intention.
Just mentioning.

It would be interesting to know what was sitting there that blocked your friend Cathy from working as expected
Indeed.

but I guess we'll never know
I'm afraid not.

And the key name also isn't very intuitive...
I searched the registry for "cathy". Robert Vasicek is the name of Cathy's programmer, hence "rOva".

21
Hooooooraaaaaaaay!!!! Cathy works again on my x64 Win7 machine!!!!   :onfire: :eusa_dance:

The solution: removing the registry entries created by Cathy (I deleted this HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\rOva and everything beneath)

That's why it did work when I logged in with another account. (HKEY_CURRENT_USER)

Many thanks to everyone here @ DC trying to help me.

22
Have you tried running Cathy.exe without any other files in the same folder?
Yes. Same problem.

If you hook up some external drive (or have some other partition) and place a folder there with Cathy.exe in it, do you still get the same results?
Yes I do. (I ran it from my USB-stick)

23
@tomos
Sorry, but I don't know what you're trying to say in your latest post.

24
@wraith808
Portable only means that it doesn't need a specific location present at run time, not that it doesn't use another location temporarily.

Right.

It's just that if it works for a different user, it seems that permissions is the right path to go down.
It looks like that, yeah.
It's just that I don't know where to start.

I downloaded ProcessMonitor and traced the operations of Cathy.exe. But at first sight I don't see anything that indicates it hasn't enough rights to write or read.
Moreover, when starting up, it should just read the .caf files that are in the same directory as the cathy.exe.

25
Does Cathy only write to the local folder?
I would think so, since it is portable.

I'd suggest checking the security for the folder Cathy is running in, and set specific permissions for your user on that folder rather than depending on the default user permissions.

My account belongs to the Administrators group.
Nevertheless, I added my specific account and give it "Full Control" rights on my directory C:\tools\catalog\cathy.

The problem persists...
