TOO COOL!
I tried to figure out an easy way to make it a clickable link to send in an email to friends, but no luck.
Easily the most awesome fun thing I've encountered here. Thanx!

to get the links to my Pandora stations, I just went to my profile page and from my stations list on the left, I just right-clicked and copied the link address
Ballroom Blitz Radio can be found here

and Supergroup Radio can be found here

It's a flipping NewsGroup, people! Jeez. And as a regular lurker and occasional poster in both, my only comment is some friendly bits of advice: 1) keep it in perspective - these are just 2 out of a number of good resources; 2) a little courtesy goes a long way and it's best to keep people lacking in it a long way away; 3) a little honest pride is nice to see but elitism (of any stripe) sucks; and 4) in cyber-space, no-one can hear you scream.

PopUp Wisdom / Potential new use for quote-books
« on: October 09, 2006, 07:02 PM »
One of my favorite silly-fun old Dos proggies is Babble (or Bab200), especially using the alternate language styles. What Babble does is parse words from a database together in logical sentence structure but without logical sense. In other words - it babbles away. But it does it in various styles. It can create Shakespearean babble, Dr Seussian babble, Bart Simpsonian babble, etc. It comes with a few databases and at some time or other I found a few more. (Where you find any of it now, I have no idea, and the last time I Searched was a couple years ago). I think it likely that you could easily adapt some of the books from Popup Wisdom to work with it.
However, the reason behind my mentioning this and attempting to peak interest in Babble (not that that is insufficient) is that I've always wished that there was some way to pipe the generated text to a speech app, cause it would be so much more hilarious to have the computer babbling out loud. While there is no shortage of speech apps, as fas as I've found none of them accept outside input except by Cut & Paste (which is enough of a pain to spoil it) or from the clipboard (won't work because it's Dos). I find it very difficult these days to tackle coding (and I was mostly a mainframe guy anyway), but I know lots of you folk seem to like these snacky little challenges - especially for something frivolous like this. Anyone want to give it a go?

General Software Discussion / Re: Good Logo Creation Tools?
« on: August 18, 2006, 05:15 AM »
here's AAAlogo
http://www.aaa-logo.com

besides all the standard graphics apps (tho I would first turn to drawing apps), you might also consider Font tools, Outlining apps, Photo-to-art (or sketch), etc. Maybe even Icon programs. I usually use Freehand, but I approach it as a Graphic Artist. It really depends on how you see the end result. What I like the Logo apps for is for brain-storming and noodling to get ideas. There's a ton of applets and web resources that are good for that sort of thing too.

Living Room / Re: Tea anyone - Bubble Tea that is....
« on: August 09, 2006, 11:37 PM »
I dunno about where you are, but Bubble Tea became a Big Deal here (Winnipeg) 2 years ago and most of the Chinese/Viet restaurants offer it here - and it is a big part of their business (HUGE part of some) I've managed to sample most of the most-highly recommended places. Probably the most interesting factoid is that hardly any 2 people have the same favorite flavor. My daughter had like at least one a week the first year, partly because one of the best places was just around the corner from her school. Anyway, it has died down some, but definitely not a flash-in-the-pan thing.

Legacy gamers all seem to recommend DosBox - "a x86 emulator with DOS"

http://dosbox.source.../download.php?main=1

apparently there can be a LOT of problems running Legacy apps - particularly games and DOS apps, so DOS games get it double - under XP and Program Compatability and utils like res-o-matic and Slo'Mo can only do so much. I've run into it myself, a tiny solitaire game called Cruel that no matter what resists running on my XP machine.

That ShortcutMaker beats the snot out of doing Search-Select-SendToDesktop-Select(off Desktop)-Cut&Paste.
Going to be especially useful to create menus for groups of Flash Games - or for any other pull-everything-off-of-website type of directory
I give it...
