Watch out when you install the software:

Do take note that during installation of AnVir Task Manager, after clicking the I Agree button, you will find Full installation and Custom installation options at the 2nd step of installation. Selecting the Full installation will allow the setup to automatically install a third party Reg Organizer software on your computer. So if you don’t want Reg Organizer to be installed on your computer, select Custom Installation and uncheck the “Install Reg Organizer” option. Somewhere in the middle of the installation, an InstallManager Setup window will appear asking you to install Babylon Toolbar. Clicking the Decline button will avoid installing the Babylon Toolbar adware.

O&O Defrag 14.5 Professional for $ 5.45

O&O Defrag 14 Professional Edition is a comprehensive and highly configurable tool for optimising the layout of files on your hard drive.

You could simply install the program, and forget it. O&O Defrag will reorganise your files to deliver the best hard drive performance, and then run in the background, automatically detecting new fragmented files and defragging them as soon as possible, preventing any further degradation of your PCs speed. (And no, that shouldn’t interfere with other programs – in our tests O&O Defrag proved very light on system resources.)

If you like to take a more hands-on approach, though, it’s also possible to create your own custom hard drive layout rules. Move unwanted files and file types over here… High priority documents over there… Leave particular system files in that corner… It takes some thought, but if you’re an experienced Windows user then there’s no reason why you can’t enhance O&O Defrag 14 Professional Edition to squeeze even more speed out of your system.

And however you intend to use the program, you’ll appreciate design details like the clear, easy-to-use interface; the excellent defrag scheduler; the new SSD support, using regularly scheduled TRIM commands to improve write speeds; the Explorer integration (defrag any file or folder from a right-click option); the notebook support (defrags are optionally disabled when you’re running on battery power); and the ability to run defrags before Windows loads, allowing the program to defragment system files that would otherwise be locked.

If there’s a down side here, it’s that the first defrag you run can be relatively slow. But if so, that’s probably because O&O Defrag is optimising the layout of files on your hard drive. Once that is done, though, your PCs performance should improve, and as the hard work has been done, subsequent defrags will be much, much faster – just a few minutes in our tests.

Note that this product is on-sale to clear with kind permission from O&O Software. Get it at this price whilst you can!

I searched BdJ several times for RightNote, but this page is recently added: http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/rightnote/

RightNote PRO with a 50% discount soon.

RightNote
Organize Piles of Info in One Spot

When was the last time you laid your fingers on a notebook? Think about it - when you were in school, notebooks were your way of keeping your coursework separated and organized. You had a notebook for English, one for Math, and another for History, and all of your notes and papers for each class were neatly stored in each one. Well, it may be years later, but that same concept still works, except this time it's on your computer with RightNote, today's discount software promotion!

RightNote lets your organize volumes of information in notebooks, each with a hierarchical tree of notes that makes it easy to sort and find information quickly. With RightNote, you'll be able to store several different note types, from word processing to spreadsheets and even source code, then use an integrated search engine to pull up highlighted terms as you type. If you're dealing with sensitive and confidential information, you'll appreciate the ability to safeguard any note, tree, or notebook using 128-bit encryption! You can even export notes to TXT, RTF, HTML, and XLS formats.

Have you ever swiped content from a website, only to cringe at the awful way a text editor loses formatting? Not with RightNote! The app is smart enough to preserve images and styles from HTML code, meaning your note looks similar to the source content. Combined with keyboard shortcuts, hotkeys, and frequently used note lists, you'll discover an untapped realm of productivity once you start using RightNote!
