I meant something more like gamejolt.com, but with an option to donate the same as in donationcoder.com, a dedicated site for freeware games where anyone can have a page to publish games.

Try to run windows update, use System Restore or SFC
As a last attempt you could run this registry cleaner,

The best pdf to doc converter I have tried so far is VeryPDF PDF2Word,
you might want to try the free online converter or the shareware desktop version.

General Software Discussion / Re: Babylon 10
« on: February 26, 2013, 03:34 AM »
Thanks Curt  :-* I'd like to recall again the wonderful feature of Babylon which allows you to detect phrases, idioms, phrasal verbs.. just by processing the context around a single word selected by the user. In my opinion this is the main characteristic which makes the difference between dictionary programs.

I think it just changes the visibility region to be rendered by a pdf file, useful to improve the zoom tool when reading pdfs on tablets/mobile devices.

132
well at least I've found a free and open source app to attach files to a pdf :
http://jpdftweak.sourceforge.net/

133
That's why I asked for other ways to embed different kinds of file formats, like an ebook creator. The user wouldn't be asked for opening all these packed files on the ebook.

134
I can't afford this tool ^^ what I'm trying to do is embed excel links avoiding any security prompts.

135
Thanks Carol, sounds good! may I ask which software you use and how it could be done ?

136
thanks for the response but I didn't mean to changing security settings for myself but to a way of creating dynamic books ready to share and open by everyone, maybe there is some other format or rather a trick to bypass these restrictions by using some other software.

General Software Discussion / Embedding external files into PDF file
« on: February 18, 2013, 04:20 AM »
One can include links to external files in pdfs, but most readers will block execution due to security reasons.
An exception is the TexWorks pdf viewer that comes with MikTeX.
Does anyone know some way to avoid these restrictions or another document formats to create this sort of dynamic books ?

Would anyone help me to make this calendar application ? preferably someone newbie or who has not programmed in years like me  :P
I have in mind something like what Mouser described, like classiccalendar with some features of coolendar (mostly the email warning using gmail). I'm very intrigued about the capabilities to make multiplatform apps of the language Haxe. So the idea is to make an HTML5 webapp and try to compile it with haxe to other platforms.
The final application would be published as GPL and donations would go to support this site.

I have tested this on a couple of pdf files, but cannot see it working.  :(

Really? I wanted to give it a try next week. Could you try what the author does on this video?

I don't know if this could be a valid solution : create an opds catalog with calibre. Good luck.

Edit: gift delivered!

DC Gamer Club / Donationware game shops
« on: January 25, 2013, 04:10 AM »
Do you know some donationware shop for games which shares revenue with developers ?
A shop with freeware games and a donation option: XX% go to the shop and the other XX% to the developers... is there any?

Kurt, I'm glad that you find this dictionary useful. Actually I prefer Babylon because of its ability to identify phrasal verbs and idioms just by clicking over a single word.
Anyway Goldendict is a nice free alternative which allows to manage glossaries made by multiple dictionary programs.
The scan popup feature works really well on pdf, I use it unchecking "only show when selected keys are pressed" which I can't manage to get it to work this way on Firefox/Opera, in that case I double click a word and then press "ctrl+c+c"

Can't this program use the "normal" procedure: Ctrl+mouseClick ?
just check "only show when selected keys are pressed" and choose 'control', then press control and mouse over a word.
This works well for pdfs and internet explorer, for other browsers is broken so ctrl+c+c seems the only way for now.

Hello, I like Babylon as well. Another dictionary compatible with their free .bgl glossaries is GoldenDict

One possible solution is to use a javascript like this one:
