Not sure if it has folder sync but much friendly and free

I can't find a downloadable demo on their website so it's hard to see if it is really that good.

The nice thing about IntelliComplete is the autocompletes words from a dictionary as u type, so you can use it for everything by changing dictionaries. If not for some bugs, it is perfect. This instant V dictionary is seems to be geared towards technical professions only.

78
Have you tried IntelliComplete before? I tried several text expanders, this is the best I found. Unfortunately, it seems to have a threading bug where it will stop working and you need to restart after using it several hours, and the authors seems to have abandoned it...

General Software Discussion / Re: SQX format for compression
« on: January 21, 2006, 10:32 PM »
I done some testing and sqx is marginally better compression than rar. If it's better, why is it not widely used? And the compressor is available.

The only reason is I like Squeeze over those archivers like winzip, winrar, power archiver is the explorer like interface. I rather not have to buy a seperate winrar just to compress rar.

I like the idea of the Squuez program where I can view into the archive file as a folder. Comprexx does this do but I couldn't get it to work. I just rather install 1 application than many archive programs - winrar for rar, izarc for zip etc.

Pity rar is a closed format. If he can license creating rar to other compressors, that will be great. Cos winrar isn't really that great interface. End of the day, consumers lose out.

The rar format is an older version which only uses 1MB dictionary = lousier compression. Squeez developers cannot use the latest rar version with 4MB dictionary because they claim it infriges on some patent.

I stored using zips before, they can get corrupted. So now comtemplating between sqx or rar. Rar seems to be more widely used.

General Software Discussion / SQX format for compression

Hi,

I recently came to know about the sqx format (Squeez from the recent archive compression review)

http://www.speedproject.de/enu/squeez/

Upon some testing, the format does offer compression slightly better as the latest rar 3.0. However, I don't see this format being used widely as rar. I'm contemplating to switch my archives to that format, so I'm a little concerned about its stability (corruption and recovery).

Is there anyone using this format to store their files? Care to comment?

Truecrypt requires admin access even for usb thumbdrives, so that's not good. FolderLock (not free) can do it without admin.

Got a solution. Apparently some of the keys are have permission denied

I also use this program, nope I don't see any potential shellext that is causing it.

No, I have removed those entries in the startup and registry already. The context menu entries appear immediately after I close TweakXP, so something loaded in memory is recreating them. In the previous Office, I can hide them using TweakXP, now can't even do that.

90
Hi,

I have some right click context menu entries (Right Click->New) that cannot be deleted. I normally use TweakXP to remove the entries, but these few entries keep reappearing. They are entries to create new MS word, excel, etc from office 2003. How can I delete them?

If you find Wordweb bad, then it's pretty hard to find a better one. You can try TheSage

I've long been looking for something that could spell-check on the fly, anywhere where text is entered..

This is even better than asutype.  It expands the word automatically.

I can do almost everything PerfectMenu does in strokeit, except for the menu bar showing the active programs. And strokeit takes less than 500K in memory, not to mention mouse gestures are cooler.

95
I use StrokeIt with MmmPlus. I checked out PerfectMenu, I think StrokeIt can do more.

General Software Discussion / Re: Word AutoCompleter
« on: September 30, 2005, 12:30 PM »
Don't worry, I don't think you will hit the limit if you are using your own words. It was slow when I imported at 500K words into it. I will gladly pay for IntelliComplete if they will solve an annoying bug I encountered.

AllChars and Type Pilots are macro expanders, not quite the same as a dictionary word expander. :(

LetMeType works actually well but when I import the whole dictionary size into it, it takes up more than 60MB ram + it's very slow to load up (a few minutes) :(

ExplorerXP looks promising but not quite a replacement for explorer yet for me.

A good alternative is xplorer2.

Hi

I just to check if you guys know any word auto completer like IntelliComplete

 http://www.flashpeak.com/icomp/

I like it a lot but there are a bug with it, and the authors don't seems to be developing it anymore. So I'm looking for alternatives.

The closet I know is AutoTyping and LetMeType but it doesn't work as well as it.
