Living Room / Digital gifts
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:27 AM »
Ok, so here's what I'd like to discuss. You see personally I really like the idea of digital gifts. You know gifts you can give an online friend even though you don't know his/her adress. For for example an online girlfriend or such.

I think a discussion and listing of great digital gifts would be a good forum idea.
Here's what I know/ found

An evernote premium account www.evernote.com
A deviantart premium account www.deviantart.com

A livejournal premium account www.livejournal.com
A seedbox
A webhosting server.
An item on www.gaiaonline.com if he/she is a member there.
An www.amazon.com giftcard.
Buying them a game on steam http://store.steampowered.com
(Credit goes to p3lb0x for enlightening me about this possibility)

So what are your opinions on digital gifts, and do you know any other digital gifts?

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows XP Alternative shells
« on: February 16, 2010, 03:43 AM »
I personally use Aston2 on my desktop and Aston 1 on my laptop.
Aston2-
+
widgets (like rss, calendar, harddrive, cpu, etc.).
Animated wallpapers
Stable
easy to install and manage (compared to some open souce software)
-
Takes actually more ram than explorer.exe (Explorer.exe about 20mb - aston  - 40mb)
Because it's a windows shell some explorer.exe dependent programs won't work.
Aston 1
- It's neither freeware nor open source
+lighter (explorer.exe 20 mb of ram Aston 1 8mb)
+ fully customizable (you can easily change every icon every color and pretty much anything
+Plugins made by regular people
+ easy to install and manage (compared to some open souce software)
-Uglier than Aston 2 (Aston 1 looks like win 95 compared to Aston 2 )
- propriery (meaning not free)

Well I'm buying a phone in the near future and I limited my choice to either the HTC Hd2 (with windows mobile 6.5) or the HTC hero. (Android os) or the iphone 3gs 16gb

Here's what I'll use the phone for (other than the standard "taking calls and writing sms-es" thing.

- Listening to mp3s - audiobooks to be precise
- Taking pictures and movies
- Writing a lot of writing using www.evernote.com
- Managing my daily tasks using www.rememberthemilk.com
- Writing emails
- reading books (pdf)
- reviewing notes with anki
http://ichi2.net/anki/403

- Read pdfs (is there a pdf reader ( I dont mean atachement reader) on the iphone?
(I mean can I upload my own  pdf files and read them on my iphone whenever I like?)
True I also like to experiment with apps (like a twitter client for example) but i've heard there's a lot of third party propriety software that the windows mobile app store hasn't even heard of.

General Software Discussion / Autohotkey question
« on: February 11, 2010, 08:54 AM »
Hi i'm new here, and this is my first post (Hello to you all by the way)
I know that the software autohotkey is popular with the users of this site, as I really like using my keyboard for all things I wanted to try it but i have one major issue with it.

While there are many scripts available (including those from www.donationcoder.com) it seems that each new script requires a new instance of autohotkey running. Is there a way for autohotkey to load multiple scripts and have one tray icon and one process running?

I've tried simply merging them using notepad but I always get an error. Does anybody know a way to correct this? Like for example a mod or program of some sorts.
