Something like this may work:

https://www.thewindo...tup-programs-windows <----- this site will complain if you have AdBlock, but it's basically a "Startup Program Delay Timer" thing, so Google should help you find an alternative, if needed!

Delay the startup of ReLive by about...5 minutes? (Sufficient time to get other stuff sorted)

Once that is done, create something quick and dirty that will open up on of your shared folders before ReLive tries to establish its connection (set it as a startup task with no delay).

I worked out (messily) a way to get my N.A.N.Y. entry into a (I hope correct) template.

That was after spending a bit of time trying to find out where to source the official template from.

For future reference, where do you keep such things?

Thanks, Stephen!

Not a problem :)

But I'll wait for the NANY template to be updated for 2019 before I start posting.
Done.

No idea if this works but I remember seeing it a while ago so figured I'd hunt it down and paste it here:

Generally, when the site goes down like that, it's cause mouser has pressed the wrong button on something ;)

Sometimes though it can just be a small hiccough at the datacenter, causing the network to lose connection for a few moments.

Thanks for getting back to me.
In the import files list in my screenshot, you can see several mp3 files I've imported. Each is for either one word or a short phrase.
To get to the state you see in the screenshot, I:
1. Imported the media files
2. Typed a native phrase
3. Typed a Foreign phrase
4. Highlighted  "vietnamese_and_you.mp3 in the import media list
5. Clicked "Add To List.

I was expecting to see info for "Track" and "File" filled in, in the relevant columns after step 5.
I was expecting that I'd be able to click on the arrowhead to the left of the "and you" line in the list and the mp3 would play after step 5.

Maybe your program doesn't work like this, I don't know and was asking.
Thanks
Tony

Ahh...I see what you mean.  AM only fills in the track and time info when you have a track playing.  This is purely because it needs a track to be playing in order to know what you want to add, and the time to add to it.  The "Arrow" you mention, isn't anything I have coded myself - it's just a part of the dataGrid you see the info in - that arrow simply selects the line (think of it basically like an Excel file) - It's not a play button  :P  There is no way (at least...none that I know of) to turn that into a play button.  I'd be happy to look though.

I'm actually coding on AM in my spare time as I am having to focus on jobs that are putting money in my pocket (a man has to eat) - so I can't promise any sort of timeline, but I can promise that I will look into it as soon as I can!

Hi Stephen, just started trying out your program - looking interesting!
Rather than have long audio file(s), I have very short individual audio files for single words and phrases. I imported about 20 or so files.
I'm having difficulty getting the audio set up ... the only way I seem to be able to get the name of the audio file into the list under "File" is by typing it, and typing the time as 00:00. This can't be right because having done that, if I click on the what looks like a play button at left of the list, nothing happens.

Would it be possible to be able to highlight a media file from the "import media" list and get it entered into the "main" list, with the track time (which I assume is the start time, not duration) set to 00:00 automatically...sort of drag and drop?

Maybe this stuffs up the direction in which you're trying to proceed, in which case, no problem. My usage is as a vocab learner, with emphasis on the sound of individual words (Vietnamese - getting tones right critical)
Thanks
Tony

Any chance you can show me what issues you are having, by means of screenshot?  I can't quite figure out what you mean :)

Finally finished with University for the year, so I can actually get back to adding stuff to this :D

Any requests?

And... being serious, should I continue here or start over on the coding snacks thread?

One of our illustrious moderators can move this thread over ... save some typing  ;)

Would have moved it quicker but I couldn't find the move button and then I couldn't work out where the hell this section was in the list of 8739878978747987092879870972390709872309802387 sections  ;D ;D

Anyhow - Moved.

You're on a tech forum....one where people ask (far stupider) questions every single day....Never be afraid to ask questions on DC!!

This might be better placed in the Coding Snack Request section though, just on the basis that it seems rather specific and I imagine it would likely need to be created rather than found :)

Excuse my ignorance but who is Cody?

Cody is the site mascot - the little bird you see at the top of each page :)

Living Room / Question for any Ruby coders out there.
« on: December 03, 2018, 03:02 AM »
Quick (and hopefully basic) question:

I'm trying to find a method, that when I run an `exit` command, I can also exec l.sh in that terminal (basically, these are 2 discord bots, one using discordrb and one using discordjs.)

I need it to do the following (the discordjs can already launch the ruby one)

When discordrb bot is shutdown, it will exec `l.sh` - this launches the discordjs bot

Any help would be hugely appreciated <3

Advocate of the devil here:  Would it then not become just a numbers game?  This post is liked by x amount of people on this forum? What does that add exactly?

The point of it would be so that you could express thanks or approval or give some form of feedback without having to create a new reply which would therefore ping everyone who has signed up to be notified of new replies. It also helps keep threads on topic instead of having a bunch of superfluous "thanks" or "nice" replies.

This would be especially handy, IMO, in threads such as the latest Steam or GOG giveaways.

As things are now, I have to choose between no reply at all (which can give the OP the idea that nobody cared about what they had to say/share) or possibly bothering a bunch of people with notifications just to say something like "thanks" or "I enjoyed that" etc. Often times I choose the former.

N.A.N.Y. 2019 / Re: NANY 2019 - DblEscClose

@Stephen66515 - It sends the standard window close message allowing for saves, though i can add a force quit option as well, just in case it's needed.

Force-quit seemed a bit "too much" and I was hoping it would send the standard close message for saving :D

@Stephen66515 - sure. I'll add an exclusion option

Thanks - without it, I can see it becoming extremely annoying to use (especially in stuff like Photoshop/Lumberyard/Unity where they take a fking lifetime to load, and closing them could cause loss of work)....which begs another question...does this force-quit the software or will it still prompt things like Notepad/MSWord/Etc, to store unsaved work before exiting?
