Living Room / Re: Dropbox and Evernote problem
« on: August 22, 2010, 09:20 AM »
Let me recommend this basic troubleshooting step:
Uninstall (temporarily) Dropbox and try to use 'standby'.
Then uninstall (or perhaps you can disable) Evernote and try to use 'standby'
It would be helpful to verify, without a doubt, that one of these is the cause of your problem - and to know which one.

I know Dropbox can be easily reinstalled with no effect on your data.  I am unfamiliar with Evernote and you may need to backup the data that application has created in order to restore it when you reinstall.

Living Room / Re: Board Game Review Site Roundup

I won almost 80 board games (of various types).  { My wife and I are strange in that we don't watch TV.  Instead we spend our nights playing games }
Whenever I am considering the purchase of a game (fortunately, I am local to CoolStuff Games - the best prices on the Internet for games), I rely on the Board Game Geek.
It gets a high personal recommendation from me!

I bought a MacBook Pro.  It just arrived today.
And I must say the entire 'presentation' (the way it is packaged and presented when you unpack it) has impressed me.  There is also a lot of evidence of attention-to-detail.
As a first-time Mac owner, I am impressed.
Since I was using a laptop as my primary machine (with a docking station) and had it dual boot with Ubuntu I thought, "With a MacBook I get the best of both.  It is native Linux and a kick-ass Intel processor".  So my next PC  is this MacBook.
I am in a bit of a 'learning curve' with the UI.  But I think I am going to like it.
My major objection (inability to run a few 'essential' apps that are available only for Windows) has been overcome with VMWare Fusion!
