I guess they get your money when you go to update -
the last time I had norton for 2 computers (2003/04 ..) it cost something around €60
(Euro = $1.2 @ wild guess  :) )

Most probably, you're looking of the first one, x86 ;)
thanks, jgpaiva!

Funny, I'm having the same problem with this as with alaxnftslinks:
i.e.,
that it doesn't work for images or vector files (has worked on various formats of text/document files)
(see also thread about cloning files)

In this case I can try contacting the author (unlike alax.info which I still can't access - at this stage I should say my computer is otherwise working very normally - :) )

has anyone else the same problem, or,
can anyone confirm that either of these programmes work for them for images or vector files ??

[well over my internet hour at this stage - I'll start tomorrow :-\ :P ]
i hope there others that stayed committed - hopefully they will reveal themselves.
-nudone
I'm still committed. How successful I am is another story!

hunt me down and kill me for saying this but i do doubt the whole 'self-improvement' gurus and what they preach. i like to think that simple 'time management' can be achieved but when it's just another version of 'how to change your life in 7 days' or whatever the latest life-style book is then it's garbage.
-nudone
good point nudone!
That's one of the things I like about Mark Forster:
that he acknowledges how difficult it is/can be to change your habits etc.

That is something a lot of the " 'self-improvement' gurus" seem to forget - or maybe they just didn't/don't experience things the same way as us mortals    :D

i just want to raise the point that there is a difference between getting a grip on wasting time reading email and wanting to change your life. i think it might be easy to expect a bit too much from these advice systems and a bit easy to be confused about what you want out of it.
-nudone
funny I find I'm coming at it from the other direction a bit:
I mean I wasn't expecting to change my life, but do find that looking at the way i work/dont work has me ending up looking at the way I think/live/am, my expectations/etc. etc. (which I'm happy about - even if I still dont end up "organised"  :) )

Anyways, as you say, I guess sometime soon we will (hopefully) talk about our experiences in more depth

That's what big companies should be doing.. paying consumers to use their stuff. Seems normal since.. well.. we are taking the time to use the application.. and after all, time is money.. and no body like's to waste time.. I know this is a bit extreme, but it makes sense..

not being in the States, I unfortunately don't get paid to use [Kapersky's] software  ;)

I have taken the risk, chanced the ol' arm-leg & email/address, & have gone with AOL's "Active Virus Shield"

I gotta say I really like it.
(I just wish I didn't feel so nervous whenever I check my email - but no spam/junk yet & one week down)

Anyways,
it says: "Powered by Kapersky",
it's easy to use, updates every hour - no confirmations required,
& has found a couple of "Trojan" adware thingies - confirmed by Spyware Terminater. So I'm very happy
(soo far ...)

HardlinkShellExtension - it has been updated many times since May 1999 (last updated November 26th 2006!! version 2.300) and must surely be bugfree. I think it is too advanced for me, but it surely looks PRO. Download from bottom line of the page.

anyone know which version to use on XP:

Download Link Shell Extension for x86 (600k)

Download Link Shell Extension for x64 (600k)

thanks, tom

that sounds great app,

I have been writing a bit in connection with the GOE, but it turned out to be about anything and everything - I mean if youre trying to change your work ways it about YOU, ME, I mean, in my case  :)
But thats been more like once a week (writing).

I read in Mark Forsters old website (but cant find it in new site) about this book called The Artists Way (I think or maybe the writers way, about developing your creativity) & one of the things they suggest is to write three pages every morning without thinking -
three pages non-stop, & if nothings happenning to write: bla bla bla ... or whatever.
He says he still does it every day.

might try that.

P.S. thanks urlwolf for the prompt!

I was just trying to download the trial version of TexNotesPro & it refused to accept the "+" version of my gmail address -
I wasn't expecting spam from them, but just using it anyway.
[my "normal" address worked]

Dude, I think this one's got you covered. That scroll ring looks nifty: http://www.cardcam.com/html/2200.html
K64325-4260.jpg
looks like it could be used by a left hander as well, (looks symmertical I mean) but doesnt say.

Any left hander tips ?
anyone tried this: "Vertical Mouse" for left handers
(@ $30 more than the right hand version  )

11159
Anyone any ideas ?

Dunno if this relevant or helpful ...  :)

I had problems staying logged in since I installed FF2 - to here, for example, & gmail -
 I mean:
I would leave e.g. the gmail open, and when I close program & restart it (using Tabmixplus session saver) would be back to login page.
After getting an update to the Tab mix plus extension this morning which prompted me to use FF's own session saver (which i did), my gmail stays logged in & DC too.

 :) :) :) :)
thanks for the smile!

"live, love, learn, leave a legacy."
perfect!

I guess one way to look at these fundamental principles is as beacons for living a balance life.  They should guide your mission statement, inform your goals, and infuse your activities.  Each time we look over our TODO list for the day/week, or review and evaluate the past activities, we should ask ourselves if we have advanced ALL FOUR fundamental areas of our lives -- or are we out of balance by focusing on only one or two, at the expense of the others.
-momonan
thats very helpful,
things are a lot clearer now  :)

P.S. no apologies accepted - cause none needed!  :P
Who was it said - the best way to really learn something is to learn it & then to teach it!
Thanks again for your help, I'm finding this one very inspiring.

11165
try a different file manager?!

I know Opus has a "flat" view where you can see all subfolders too but dont think thats what you want?

Also you can turn off icons - sure this is an option in some other managers too ???

11166
momonan,
think I need a bit of help here!

Step three: Identify four fundamental areas of your life: physical (vibrant health, exercise, good diet), social (development of key relationships), mental (keep current in our field, learning, growing), and spiritual (what’s important and meaningful, helping others, living for something higher than “self”).  Don’t neglect any of the areas.
* are you saying these are the fundamental areas (physical, etc) & we identify the important aspects within these areas, or do we identify our own fundamnetal areas ?   or something else ?!

Step four.  Identify the most important thing to do in each of these areas this week.  As a parent, it might be to spend some one-on-one time with your child.  As a spouse, it might be to go on a date with your husband or wife.  A job-related goal might be coaching a peer, working on something with the boss.  Your own development might be planning a personal retreat or working on a mission statement.
this seems to relate the goals to the roles chosen.
I'm still not sure where/how the "four fundamental areas of your life" come in to play ..
Write down the four fundamental areas of life that are in section 4
Think of one thing you can do (in one of your roles) this week in each of the four areas.
Okay, think i have it now! But question above* still valid

I'm a bit confused about the sequence of things but that's not a big deal.
I've listed my life roles,
I find the mission statement & the primary goals are needing a bit of thought in order to "evolve" (it's just so BIG!) but thats okay, -
& I find its already having a good influence in terms of I'm getting more creative projects back on the burner.

11167
A bit late   :-[
yeah,
only got to listen to long version end last week,
think I'll have another listen for all that to sink in.

Anyways,
many thanks to urlwolf, there was loads of work there!
& naturally thanks to Mark Forster.

Have to say I agree with Forster about sticking to one time management method instead of trying them all for short periods, which is why I've stayed away from the GOE, although I've started incorporating Forsters ideas into my life.

I find theres a huge amount of overlap between systems, with each having their emphases (had to look up that plural)
Maybe I'm not conducting the experiment properly, :-\ but if I think something doesn't suit my work &/or ways, or if it clashes with something thats alreday working for me,
well, I just leave it out!
[Often its more like i just dont get around to it!]

11168
as an aside - hopefully not too off topic  :)
6. How Does a Word Become a Curse Word?

Our parents are totally going to ground us for talking about this, but if you must know, a "curse" was originally just a bad type of prayer. Thus, the first curse word was likely "damn," as in asking God to damn someone to Hell, which was considered taboo because of the religious power it wielded.

Condemning people to an eternity of suffering isn’t something to let everyone just go around doing on a daily basis, so the government stepped in, leading to the first censorship laws. Among the first victims was William Shakespeare, whose works were considered quite racy for their time, and not just because he sent his fair share of characters to Hades. The Bard’s plays were littered with sexual innuendo, and eventually, these types of references became swear words as well.

Depending on what the sexual mores of the current generation were, formerly innocuous words could suddenly become unfit for polite company. The Victorians, for instance, instituted the practice of referring to the thigh meat on a chicken as "dark meat" because saying the word "leg" or "thigh" at dinner could be enough to give your hostess a case of the vapors.

And in the 17th century, the "c-word" that formerly referred to a certain barnyard fowl took on another, er, more inappropriate meaning, leading to the invention of words like "rooster" and "weathervane" to keep the newly dirty word from crossing genteel lips.

Sometimes these avoidance tactics went a little too far, though. Case in point: the 1952-53 season of "I Love Lucy," during which, despite the star’s stomach being about the size of the Superdome, censors prevented the show’s writers from even once mentioning the word "pregnant."

See also: Maledicta Journal, a scholarly journal dedicated to bad, bad words, published by Reinhold Aman [wiki] (a colorful character himself!).

I have my own dislikes/annoyances with Opera - cant create profiles, cant save single window sessions

for profiles: http://operawiki.info/operaprofiles
-nontroppo

[Unless theres been new developments since September-] after spending a lot of time trying to implement this & (other solutions) a couple of months ago, I was told at the opera forums that at the moment (Opera 9) the only solution is to install a second copy of opera (ie seperate installs required for each profile)

Only bothered me that theres loads of directions out there that arent valid anymore & a body can waste alot of time & get very stressed out ... a lesson in patience the whole experience was  :)

cant seem to get through to that link -

I mean the Vasilios one !

this works though

think we might need more than a week though for:
"a mission statement for you life"

it is what I've been wanting to look at though,
so it's great to get the assignment :read:
