Couple of observations:

Listary seems to be a modern version of the old powerpro.
Maybe one small aspect of Powerpro. IMO, Powerpro is the single greatest utility ever coded. I have Windows 8 Pro x64 and I still use Powerpro. I use it for managing my clipboard, I built my dock using PP, I use it for text replacement, etc. True, it's also capable for favorite folders but I don't need that aspect as I use Directory Opus and Windows built in favorites for dialogs.

Living Room / Re: Remember to make full drive image backups
« on: October 15, 2012, 07:27 AM »
I use a 3 point strategy. When I originally install a new OS I set it up just how I like it and image it before I install any other software. Now, I'm never more than 20 minutes away from a fresh, clean install. I sometimes create a differential image after installing my software but I prefer to reinstall them manually after applying the base image.

For file backups I use Syncback Pro to backup to my NAS.

For versioning I rely on Dropbox to do that for me. I've had occasion to use this feature and it is really good.

28
Nope, no more free version since 2.0 came out

29
Why? It won't run anyways because I have DX11 and it needs at least DX9.

Thought this may be a good thread to post this update.
For Pictomio, now includes a free pictoGEO license key.

http://www.pictomio.com/Default.aspx
I thought I'd give it a try.
First of all you have to contend with the asinine C/Net downloader trying to install 2 addons. Then once you get to the program install itself it tries to install a 3rd addon. Then after you get it all installed it refuses to run because you need at least DirectX 9 and you only have DirectX 11. (Yes, I see the stupidity in those numbers!)

I didn't mean to sound critical of them. I was trying to point out how good the deal is. Another lame attempt at humor gone awry. You'd think I'd learn after awhile.

I guess this renders their statement from above a falsehood!

purchase TwistedBrush Pro Studio at 30% off! It doesn't get much better than this

I own a worthless "lifetime license" for Roboform. Of course they reneged on that promise. I would never give them a cent of my money in the future. I welcome opportunities like this to point out that they are liars.

34
I'm glad you got it solved!

35
I've had this before and it was booting from the wrong disc. I had to reorder the boot sequence in the BIOS.

36
Yes, but eject without USBSR or Zentimo.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Exit after Toolbar Icon
« on: August 17, 2011, 04:50 PM »
Yes, thank you.

Just to be clear, this is what I'm talking about. In FARR options there is a box to "close window after launch by default". I'd like that to apply to the toolbar selections also.

You lost me. I invoke FARR with a hotkey. I have several key programs set up with toolbar icons. When I open a program using the toolbar, FARR stays open. When I open a program by the quicksearch, FARR closes.

Can FARR be made to auto close after choosing one of the toolbar icons just like it does when activating a program from search?

IIRC, the bottom-most item in FARR's options dialog has to do with the troubleshooting log and it may have a checkbox relating to enabling/disabling logging.
May be that will be of some use.
Thank you!

The file that gives me trouble with Dropbox is FarrTroubleshooting.log. It is always locked. Is there any way to not log whatever it is supposed to log?

Ah hm, thanks.

And can I disable that "styled" context menu? I always have to scroll.
You can certainly edit the context menu.
Go into Customize then select the Context Menu tab.
Click on "Lister Context" and select "Show".
Now you can right click on any menu item and remove or edit it.

Living Room / Re: Congratz to the US Military Forces!

The US supported Bin Laden as well as Hussein while they were fighting against other innocent countries. Now they fought the US and, suddenly, it is called "terrorism"?
Yeah, you're right. Flying airliners into office buildings isn't terrorism. You win by your uncanny logic. Congrats!

Killing innocents?
Hmm... wait... wasn't it the government of the USA who wanted Hussein and Bin Laden to do exactly that a few decades ago?

No. Soviet military forces engaged in war are not considered innocent noncombatants. Al Qaeda is engaged in war with the US. Therefore, their leader is a valid military target.

So you think the 9/11 civilians were not innocent?

You need to brush up on your history. The US supported the Afghan mujahideen agains the '79 Soviet invasion. We did provide weapons and training. The mujahideen later evolved into Al Qaeda. That can not be misconstrued as saying we created Al Qaeda.

It saddens me to think you value the life of an evil madmen more than the 3000 people killed on 9/11. True, killing bin Laden will not bring them back but this man was trying to kill more innocents all over the world. Do you value the life of a miserable terrorist more than the innocent civilians he has killed, or plan to kill. Taking out bin Laden, and other terrorists, will save innocent life in the long run.

I have no regrets that bin Laden was killed. I only wish it had been sooner, slower and more painful. Does that make me a bad person? I don't care. I believe in justice. Where is your anger for the innocents killed on 9/11? Where is your anger at the continuing violence perpetated by Al Qaeda, spurred on by bin Laden?

Yeh, "congratz" for murdering an unarmed old man after ten years of pointless bombing. Idiots.
Says the man from country not bombed by Al Qaeda.

Usually the people that resort to name calling have the weaker points in an argument.

The pro version has more editing capabilities.

I put my home version serial in the "upgrade from other versions" box and it told me there was not upgrade available from Home 13 to Pro 13. I got the Home version this morning with the Bundleytic bundle and I would like to have paid the difference to get the pro version.

It is strange as most developers would love to have you move from their standard versions to their pro versions. I have Zoner Pro version 9 but the cost to upgrade that is $55; too much.

I don't see an upgrade path from Home version to Pro. I looked at their upgrades page and only see paths from previous pro versions.

So to putting him to trial would cost two or three bombs at most. That is not much compared to the operating cost of an aircraft carrier.
What you are not seeing is the human cost of keeping him in a prison awaiting trial. There would be rioting around the world, which usually comes with a huge loss of life. There would be hostages taken in an attempt to have him released. The extremists would all be rallying and coming together instead of falling apart.

It is much better this way. It was quick, it was clean, and it is over. There is no grave site to be made a shrine. There is no living bin Laden in prison that would become more of a symbol for the extremists.
