There are still goods movies left to download  :)

Please use latest version 1.1.1 from the web site, as earlier version had bug in not downloading the file at all. My apologies if anyone tried to use the earlier version. Now it displays full information and shows download progress too, so that user can know, it is working.

Regards,

Description
You see I needed an application to "partial download" a file, specially large movie file, from a given url.

Reason: This is a season of wishing each other and sending some thing to smile big or small. My mail group and individual friends send me sometimes movie file, which contains, say a funny situation of a couple on gift purchase. I do smile after watching it. So far so good. Now the problem is, another of my friend sends me the same movie but in different name and he writes only "Enjoy!". This file happens to be 84MB!! Just imagine my face after downloading on paid connection, I find the same movie, albeit in better and bigger resolution, but same.

So I need to download the first few bytes, say 1MB, of the same and check it in GOM Player. If I have watched it earlier or if it is not of my liking, I will not download it.

I searched and could not find any file down-loader which I can tell to download just 1MB or so of the file. If I cancel a download in middle, the file gets deleted. Forget about using it as background job.

Solution: I made "Partial Download" console application. This is a console application and so requires CMD (Command Prompt) support to run.

Features
Downloads first few bytes of given url. Best for partially downloading a huge movie file and checking it for it worthiness to download full.

Planned Features
Depends on feedback

Usage
Installation
Unzip zip file in a folder of your choice and run the exe in a console window (command prompt).

Using the Application
Syntax:
"partial download" url [bytes_to_download]
where bytes_to_download defaults to 1.5 MB

Example:
"partial download" http://filehost.com/abcd.flv
"partial download" http://filehost.com/abcd.flv 1500000

Uninstallation
Delete the folder you unzipped the exe in.

Known Issues
Do not have any window/GUI interface

Yes, tomos, the template form is shortening the long download link. Please use the main link and click on "Download" on the web site.

Thanks for pointing it.

Description
1. I work mostly in text editor, coding application, and the mouse cursor shows as a bar some where on the codes, which makes it difficult to read the code behind it.
2. When I do searching on the browser, the mouse cursor creates same problem in troubling me reading the text and also some times enabling some mouse over activity on the web site, like auto menu drop down or auto image enlargement.
3. When I fill some text, number etc. in some form in a application or website, the same mouse covers the input field.

In all these above cases my vision to the text on which I am working, is obstructed by the mouse cursor. I have to lift my hand from the keyboard and physically move the mouse each and every time I am working on some text.

Features
Whenever you type on keyboard, the mouse cursor is automatically parked (moved) aside to a defined screen position. This way your view of the input field, document, where you are typing, is not blocked by the mouse cursor.

Planned Features
Depends on feedback

Usage
Installation
Unzip all the files into a folder you want, then launch the exe.

Using the Application
Run it at system start up. Work normally with your mouse and keyboard. When you start heavy use of the keyboard only, that is typing lots of text, you will notice that the mouse arrow cursor is at the edge of the screen, giving you clear view of your document.

Uninstallation
Delete the folder where you unzipped the files.

Known Issues
In some machine, the mouse cursor flickers if "Slide mouse..." is set higher than 4.

N.A.N.Y. 2011 / Re: NANY 2011 Pledge: cursor mover (hider)
« on: December 28, 2010, 04:59 AM »
Agreed.

I will request you to use PCA in your day to day activity and see in which application you want the mouse cursor to stay put where it is, while you are typing on the keyboard. Please note that when you use a editor, there are two cursors; one which stays at place of key entering (PCA do not touch it) and another which changes to 'bar' sign or arrow sign, depending on where it is (PCA moves this cursor). I may not have encountered any such application where I will want the 'bar' cursor to stay along with the 'key' cursor, but will like to check and definitely will make option to counter it.

If you use both mouse and keyboard, for say, clicking on object and pressing space to select, then obviously you will not want PCA to move the mouse cursor. Set "Park after <x> keystrokes" to say, 4 and you will notice that the mouse stays where it is required.

Only when you start typing a document, filling a form etc. you will need the mouse cursor to move aside, and PCA will handle it automatically.
