Still .. interesting what 40hz discovered/found out. Complicated stuff too. In the meantime and 1/2 year later... What's the best version in the meantime on CNET, Softpedia etc .. Seems there's a big confusion now about this program. The different developers should, I guess, at least give the program a different name, since, from what I understand there are big differences aside from the circle GUI.

JimB I noticed you were asking about a bug related to "waiting for time to pass". I can assure you that this problem is gone. Startup Delayer 3.0 is completely new software compared to 2.5. I've even added a feature in the Options window where you can tell Startup Delayer to wait for another application to start before launching the applications.

Well that's perfect because this message "waiting for time to pass" only should appear very shortly. In my case Startup Delayer itself got caught up sometimes between other invisible thngs that start up and consequently since the message remained it didn't startup itself. As I said in the meantime I solved that for 100% by manually starting SUD some minute or so after start. Now that I'm sure I can overinstall the 3.0 version in the same folder. I think your link in Vista is skipping a few folders in it's path. Shouldn't it be:
Windowx Vista/7: C:\Users\Users\Name User\AppData\Roaming\r2 Studios\Startup Delayer instead of Windowx Vista/7: C:\Users\All Users\r2 Studios\Startup Delayer

I have Vista and it is worse than a vampire. The main thing is that Soluto mostly handles startups that you cannot find anywhere and not at all in a program that checks out what is starting up with your computer. Also because there are programs and services you cannot and should not interfere with. For example do you or will you ever see explorer.exe among the list ? Of course not because if that wouldn't start you're computer wouldn't work at all. You will see it running when you start the Task Manager. I have 2 AM too and should leave for greener pastures too in my dreams.

None of these apply to SD3. For my setup (on two different machines) it was just a long-awaited godsend.

SD3 was not intended and can in no way handle programs that start up hidden, and there are a few dozen. Besides that if you look inside SUD at the list of programs that start up without delay, you can only choose between these one's to delay. You have no idea how many other programs an services that start hidden, and believe me the list is long. Soluto handles those in a way to sort them out and as it were to let one start b4 another but w.o a delay (what Startup Delayer does with the one's in the list that are not hidden).

Why I keep using Startup Delayer ? Similar programs can not do what Startup Delayer does. I've tried 2 other programs b4 and they make a mess of it. I agree that was a few years ago. In the meantime there could be others perhaps, but why should I even try them, when SUD does for me what I need.

Yes, but will it overwrite the initial settings, I mean the different delays of the programs. If so there must be a file I could save to put it back after installation of the 3.0 and overwrite the initial settings of the 3.0.  

Also I see in the premium version of the 3 that it can launch applications on a schedule. What does that exactly mean, c'se I tought the 3 standard does that to otherwise there wouldn't be a delay. What exactly is on a schedule ?

Is the "waiting for time to pass" issue fixed. I've mentioned it b4. Allthough it's still present in my actual version and blocking the normal use of startup delayer, since the message remains in the "waiting for time to pass" state and thus preventing all the programs in the delayer to start.

I fixed that by starting my Delayer manually half a minute or more after the startup of my computer.

It is because the startup del;ayer itself was blocked from starting up in a normal way at startup (other programs that were starting up together with the Delayer could have prevented that)

So if this issue isn't fixed in the 3.0 version maybe there should be an option to delay Startup Delayer itself after startup, thus preventing other programs at startup to block Startup Delayer itself (and causing the message waiting for time to pass). Maybe some *.bat file could do the job independently from Startup Delayer itself.

As I told now I start the delayer manually some time after startup.

This is weird, the 3.0 version seems to be split in two. A standard and a premium version. I wonder what's the difference between both. Also is it possible to overinstall the 3.0 on top of the old 2.5 ? I and many others I suppose would like to save the settings used in the previous version.

Besides and maybe off-topic but I wonder why user yksyks is bothering over Soluto ? Been using that for some 2 years w.o a problem ...

I've been using this startupdelayer for quite some time now, however there's one serious bug that still is present with every update.

From time to time when using the graphic display, at the very start of the program I get (at the place where the graphic display shows the different programs that startup in sequence) the message "Waiting for time to pass ....". This remains so and nothing happens; no programs start, not even manually. The only thing I can do is reboot, sometimes I even have to reboot twice. I think that when that message appears it means that even startupdelayer won't start.

This problem that I mentioned in May this year, is still present and quite annoying, because evrything locks up and I have to do a restart. I think it is the Delayer itself that blocks evrything. My AV and FW are set to not start with Windows in their respective configuration. So they can't cause this problem.

Well as far as some programs being the cause, I have my doubts because like you saw in my screenshot, there's hardly any program starting b4 this happens in the graphic display. Instead of the usual programs one just gets this "waiting for time to pass". And this remains that way and there's only one thing left to do and that's reboot again.

Also I never will use these AIO's. Outpost firewall is good, but that doesn't mean their security suite is good. Most products are only good or the best in one category. Also once a product is one of the best of it's kind, the manufacturers atract users to also get their other products and most of all their AIO's. It's been proved over and over again this works. I would advise not to fall in that trap, because rarely their other products are of the same high quality.

But anyway thank's for the advise. On the other hand I can't the links for an upgrade to a newer version of SD to work ...

Thanks, you mean you've seen in some other posts, or you've experienced it yourself ? Anyway I also start my Antivirus and Firewall delayed. In fact when this bug appears (and that's about 1 time out of 3 times after a reboot), everything locks, also nothing appears in the systray of the other programs that start without delay.

It's of course possible because of the fact that StartUpDelayer doesn't start, it might as well be that no other program would start if startup delayer wasn't used. That's why it should be possible for the program to move all programs out of the delayer with one click. Now if you disable the delayer program at start up no program from the delay list will start.
